Their online portal was nice and easy and Soolah was communicative the entire time to ensure we had everything set up to go. We had some unconventional things during our reception (live singer for first dance, etc) and she made sure we knew it wasn't the tiniest bit of an issue. During our reception, she had one of the co-owners with her as well, Jack. I got to have a lovely chat with him about their business, the job, and just various other things that was an absolute pleasure. In general, they're just good people all across the board. We hired Alex from the Dapper DJ's for our October 2016 wedding. From our initial consultation with him, he was fun and engaging and honest. We liked his straightforward pricing options and his cool style. Alex had two DJ setups at our wedding, the main one serving the ceremony and reception, and a vintage setup for the cocktail hour. Our guest loved the vintage vibe at cocktail hour, and all evening they kept raving about the music selections. Alex was great at seeing what the crowd was into and playing a great mix of oldies and new stuff to keep people dancing. He was even able to find some special Cuban music that we wanted to play to honor the grooms culture. We worked with Alex from Dapper DJs after being recommended the Dapper DJs at a wedding show from another vendor and from the rave reviews from our other vendors. Alex was great to work with. We talked via phone and email many times before the day of, and met once for drinks, so we could go over some final details. The most important thing to us was our guests have fun and dance at the wedding, and he made sure that happened with his song choices, which appealed to our wide range of guests (aged 6-76). The only critiques I would have is he didn't play all of our must play songs (we had I think ten on our list), and the sound system he set up for our ceremony kept cutting out during my husband's vows unfortunately, but the overall experience with Alex was excellent. Our guests shouted for one more song at the end of the night until the venue allowed Alex to play one, as they were having that much fun. I would definitely recommend Dapper DJs for your wedding! read more

We booked The Dapper DJs at the recommendation of another vendor and because they had great reviews and we really liked the idea of a Victrola at the cocktail hour. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed and don't feel we got the quality we expected for the cost. I was a little upset that I was being asked questions the days leading up to the wedding and even more disappointed that Alex came into the room where we were waiting in to be announced (after the reception was already starting a half hour late) to ask questions about order and pronunciation for introductions. During introductions, Alex had a technical issue and didn't play our entrance and first dance song when expected; instead of filling the time or silence he just left us hanging there awkwardly with 120 people staring at us waiting for it to come on. Afterwards he did some over and apologize and I told him it was alright (things DO go wrong after all). If it had been left at that it wouldn't have been too bad but I continued to be disappointed. It seemed Alex was constantly missing in action and did not announce speeches as dinner was served as was the plan and the day of coordinator wasn't able to find him to remind him to get them going. Because of this the whole reception ran behind and we had to push all the events (speeches and cake cutting) into a crammed few minutes so the vendors could get to their meals and we were late getting around to tables to greet folks, most of whom had already left their tables since dinner was over. I was also very disappointed that he played almost all of the songs on our "must play" list while we were walking around to tables and weren't able to dance yet (which we specifically discussed he was to play the must play when we were in the room and able to dance); by the time we could get to the dance floor he was playing a bunch of songs we didn't like. I'm very pleased with all my other vendors but the DJ was a disappointment read more

I was lucky enough to have Alex of The Dapper DJs at my wedding last weekend, and I can't imagine a better person for the job - he is incredible! From the very first time my husband and I met Alex, we were amazed by his expertise, professionalism, and kindness. He met with us in person multiple times and spoke with us on the phone a few times as well to help us organize the music and announcements for our wedding day. We were so grateful for his knowledge leading up to the day and his amazing skills on the day of. We had a lunch reception, so we weren't sure what the dancing interest level would be like during the planning, but Alex had everyone out on the floor for the entire reception! He played all of our favorites and did a truly masterful job with the playlist and the timing of the day through announcements. He also did the ceremony music, which was incredibly lovely and exactly what we wanted, and the hors d'oeuvres/lunch music, which was equally perfect and wonderful. Many of our guests complimented his work to us during and after the reception, and one of the first things my husband and I discussed on our ride away from the reception was what an amazing job Alex did and how much his work made our day so extra special - we are still giddy thinking about how fantastic he made our celebration! He added a unique element of fun to our wedding that I'm sure he brings to every gathering, and everything from his one-of-a-kind DJ equipment (the vinyl records and gramophones and suitcases) to his personality made the musical portions of our wedding so charming and wonderful. We had a relatively remote wedding in Cumberland, MD so we looked for DJs closer to western MD and we couldn't be happier that we found Alex. He was easy and fun to work with, extremely into doing whatever would make us happy, and so kind and available. Originally we wanted a live band after my sister had had such a great experience with hers, but we just couldn't afford it. So when we found Alex, we were pleasantly surprised by his extremely competitive pricing while offering interest and entertainment value, going beyond simply playing music by bringing the "dapper" persona. He played vinyl oldies during our cocktail hour and transitioned up to current music and kept the dance floor hot during our reception, all while acting as a top-notch MC. We initially booked the Dapper DJs because they seemed like the next best option after the live band we wanted, but I think we ended up even happier with Alex than we would have otherwise.
