I don't understand the bad reviews for Dapper Dog. I have a miniature Schnauzer - a breed famous for being foot sensitive. I have been asked to not return to a couple of groomers because his attitude. I've taken him to Dapper Dog for about 2 to 3 years now and he actually enjoys getting groomed now. He always looks great when he comes out too. Having said that, I know Dapper Dog is not the cheapest groomer in town, but the fact that they handle my basket case of a mini Schnauzer without complaint, it's worth every penny. read more

I said i would nt give a bad review so im gonna stick to my word but i will speak the truth on the situation and u can decide for urself. I was told i could get all 3 my lil dogs cut, shampoo, nails, anal gland for 63 or 67 dollars cant remember exact but i was 30 min late to my apt and they said they had alot dogs to do so i only left one and he had bad matted hair , i shouldve not assumed hours was same and made sure but i didnt. They have always called me when they was done w my dog and being i had called them twice on the morning i dropped my dog off i figured they would do just that. Well they say they tried call me 5 times but being they never got an updated phone number on my account and no1 thought to look on the caller id at the number i called from twice that morning. So that being said when i tried calling a lil before 4 and no one answered i was in panic mode and when arriving at 4olclock i found a note on the door stating that they closed at 230 that day and my dog was already nestled in for bed and i could pick him up in morning at 730 am . I was frantic. I sat in the parking lot for 2 hours trying to find the owners number out online. I messaged on facebook and finally got a number to call her on , so after telling her i would pretty much do anything if i could have my dog back she called me bk to tell me she found a worker that lived out of town and would meet me at a certian time and said she prolly would appreciate a cash tip for her troubles. When arriving to get my dog i was charged i do believe 130.00 . I was so glad and relieved to have my dog back i gave her my every single dollar i think i gave the gal maybe 10 to 12 xtra for the trouble and left. When i asked why so much she said bc he was matted so badly. I said nothing more bc at that point i wanted nothing more then to have my dog back and i litterally gave them my every last dollar. I will say they do a great job but i feel the whole situation i had wrong in my part and i feel they did as well. Hopefully we both learned something from this , i know i did. We took our Yorki mix Chihuahua today too get s cut bath nails trim Took her at 10:00 and gave instructions on how we wanted her cut. Around noon we got a call from them too pick up our dog that I'm the middle of city she became aggressive, We picked her up and she was cut as short as possible from neck down , her head was not touched at all and nails was not trimmed, We was char 55.00 and when we ask why was told that it was there policy and since she was aggressive it was not possible too finish her. Our dog was shaking real bad and her eyes was red and her face was smeared with tears I called another groomer and they took her in And finished her, we watched her from a distance and our pet showed no aggression at all, we ask her was she aggressive and said no Possible they was rough with her , So please be careful when you take your pet too dapper Dog Just cause they look good doesn't mean they are good read more

Ignore the people that have poorly behaved dogs leaving reviews on here...have been taking our dog here and so have 3 of our friends all with nothing but good experiences...my dog begs me to take him to daycare every day and gets upset when we pass it up to take our daughter to school. read more

Took my 7 month old puppy to Dapper Dog to get groomed for the first time. Within 45 minutes, I got a call to come pick him up and told my puppy is "ungroomable" and acting like a "wild feral beast" on the grooming table! The lady said my puppy "needs a lot of working with and probably needs to be sedated to be groomed!" I went to pick him up and found a $65 charge waiting for me along with an ungroomed puppy. They did manage to bath the wild animal (20 pound poodle mix). I next took him to Kentuckiana Animal Clinic. The lady there was able to groom him fully without incidence, complimented me on how sweet my puppy was and only charged $44 for everything including the bath. Know before you go. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO THIS FACILITY! The worst place and the worst owner I have encountered by far. Ashley is the owner of the establishment and she is beyond unprofessional and in our eyes, a theif. If i could give 0 stars, I would. My grandparents picked our baby up and she asked for the full payment and even tip but didn't mention not washing my dog. She turned him back to us covered in soap and nothing done. Then claimed he tried to bite her. We have the security video of said inicent and she is still holding on to my "dog who bites," who is NOT an aggressive dog and is an 8 year old calm Shephard. The video even shows reavhing towards her once, after she took a razor to him, so i can only imagine it was because she cut him. After that, he went back to being calm. She never notified us of the incident, and called saying he was done and ready for pick up. Upon arrival she asked for payment and tip, still without telling us she didn't do anything. We asked for extra services as well, which she did not do or tell us she wasnt going to, and charged us for those extra services. After receiving the payment she tell us she didn't get to finish him, but we assumed she at least rinsed him off, so imagine our horror when nothing was done to him and he still had soap on him. When I called to ask how grooming worked with her, I was specific and asked if she would immediately notify me if an incident would happen and if they use harness or muzzles, she said YES to all of it. Yet when I confronted her about the incident, she said she wasn't going to have the conversation with me and didn't even apologize or even offer a refund for the services my grandparents paid and they didn't even attempt to do due to her mistreatment of my dog. Please do not go here, for the safety of your dogs go somewhere where a true professional will not hurt or aggrivate them, and where they can handle a situation if a dog were to get stressed out. read more

Absolutely a wonderful experience!!! Love them and they love my baby too

My dog was mistreated at this establishment! To start, our dog was being held in the back which was completely out of sight of the customers instead of the main waiting area. We paid almost $100 and received our dog completely shaved or "dematted" even though they acknowledged it was only her backside that was matted as I was dropping her off. She also came home with poop all over her butt. My husband called to see why we received her in such a state and we were told she was so nervous she started pooping everywhere. Our dog has never pooped out of nervousness and at our past groomer they went on and on about how sweet she was. Clearly our dog was mistreated at this establishment. I will never take her back. If you take your dog here, you will pay more to have your dog abused. They are horrible people who should not be allowed to own a pet grooming business. read more

I used their self-service dog bath. Way more than I expected. They supply the towels. I brought my own shampoo. Their self service is small, but they are equipped to handle any size dog. $12.00 is worth it to me to have a comfortable way to bath my dog. Sinks and groom stations, with blow dryers are provided along with various bathing and grooming tools. The only thing missing were dog clippers that I wished they would supply. I recommend this place for anyone who bathing their dog in their bathtub etc. has become difficult or anyone else who hates the cleanup after the bathing. Just bath, blow dry and go!! read more

I would not recommend. If could give a zero star I would. My dog was given back to me worse than when she went in. I was told she was nervous and was pooping everywhere because of it, which I get, that happens sometimes but they did not clean her and the staff knew she was still unclean but the manager told the people up front to give her to my wife like that anyways. We don't usually is this place but has to due to scheduling purposes. And my dog has never had this problem with the other place, which unfortunately leave me to believe they are mistreating the animals. I will never go to them again. When called to ask why my dog was not cleaned they could not give me a straight answer and hung up on me. read more

This is the first time we've taken our dog to Dapper dog for grooming. I didn't have a great experience while dropping her off and spoke to the owner about this. When I went to pick Harley up the experience was no better and I saw the guy changing a light bulb pay more attention to my crying dog than the groomers. It seems with all the bad publicity going on in this area with animal rights we would see businesses, that deal with animals, acting better since we are more intune with mistreatments of them. When I got Harley home it was evident she had not been offered water and her bathroom privileges neglected. I would not let these people touch any of my animals and hope you keep your babies away from them as well, there are too many other places to choose from and I will definitely be going back to my original groomer who was on vacation. read more

The service here was great- the ladies answered all of my questions politely and clearly knew what they were talking about. Fairly decent prices, and they have an option to skip the "line" and have your pet groomed quickly called the Express Grooming. This was my first time taking my dog to be professionally groomed and he is what I would consider a "nervous" dog. They recommended this service to get him in and out quickly, and afterward, they told me next time he wouldn't necessarily need the express because he did so well. I really appreciated their honesty, it will save me $15 next time! They truly care about taking care of your pet and not just making extra money when they can. They informed me that my Golden Retriever has a "double coat" of fur so they didn't recommend a hair cut because it could grow back funny, discolored, or not at all, which also saved me money (and helped keep my dog looking nice!) because I originally wanted him to get a haircut. They trimmed all of his long hairs around his feet, ears, belly, private areas and tail and he looks great! Not to mention they do it in a timely fashion- it took them only a little over an hour. Their packages really include everything you could want for your pet (bath, blow dry, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression) and while it is dependent on the size and breed, my dog weighs over 80 pounds, my price for that package was under $70 while my grand total was under $100. (I paid a little more for nail grinding instead of only clipping them and I also paid extra for the express grooming.) I highly recommend The Dapper Dog, they treated my anxious dog very well and he came out looking so handsome. They also have other services beyond what I got for my dog, as well as Owensboro's only Doggy Daycare Service. I will definitely be bringing my dog back! read more

Because Pet Food Center closed I was forced to find a new place to give my dog a bath. I tried Dapper Dog. Their setup was pretty good. Adequate tub for my medium sized dog & a couple good towels with a pretty powerful blow dryer. But the shampoo was terrible! It would not lather and it did not get my dog clean. I was used to good smelling shampoos at Pet Food Center. Dapper's shampoo looked like 90% water with a little soap in it. I was very disappointed because I felt like it was a wasted 12.00. The black ring around my dogs neck from his choker chain was still there. He smelled like a wet dog. read more
