UPDATE: I know a lot of people do not post updates to their original complaint but i am changing my review from 1 star to 4 because of how they handled my complaint. THEY WERE GREAT! They immediately called me first thing in the morning to apologize and sent their supervisor Keith to come clean up all branches...and when i mean all of it he racked up EVERY leaf! He called to confirm that he was coming and after he left to make sure i was happy. I was in total awe that they took the care they did to make the situation right. I'll never knock a company for making amends to do the right thing. Just hope its a lesson learned as an example for their future employees. Thank you Davey Tree & Thanks Keith! ORIGINAL REVIEW: WORST TREE COMPANY. They came to clear the power lines and left branches HANGING ON THE POWER LINES. They literally left my yard in shambles, branches, leaves and logs were left on the ground. Had to call Emergency OUC to come clear the line because they are inadequate to do their job. They were trimming the trees around the powerlines and letting branches drop into my garden, which totally destroyed all of my vegetables. This company is useless and I asked them if they were gonna rake up the leaves and stuff they left outside and they said F no would not recommend them for anybody. read more

I called them and it took almost a month to get someone out. when I did the guy suggested my palm tree was buying because someone cute the palm with dirty tools well my house is 2 years old and the palm tree has never been cut. he then mentioned some disease when I asked further questions he shrugged his shoulder and said it would always be in my yard... please do yourself a favor and call someone else. read more

Davy placed three cables about six years ago to support the large limbs of my live oak. I told the arborist immediately they looked way too small for the size and weight of this tree , he disagreed. A thunderstorm, six months later, broke one of the cables and they came out and replaced it with a heavier one. at the same time I had them what's called a cobra cable on another limb and paid for that . another year later, another cable broke , the fixture placed into the tree snapped off leaving the cable dangling down from the tree. I was very frustrated and just did nothing. Now, a couple years later, the last of the cables is frayed with one strand of wire holding it. out and they do not stand behind their I was quoted $1200 to replace the failed cables that they already placed . No warranty,no credit no integrity in my opinion, no back up on the quality of the work they've done. never recommend or use them again. read more

They were contracted by OUC to cut trees in my back yard. They piled the refuse by the street in a huge pile that waste management will not pick up. I called Davey and they hung up on me 3 times. They were contracted by FPL to prine around lines (who should've buried our lines long ago. We lose power every time the wind blows). They've been coming about every 3 years. This is the third time and most brutal butchering. They are extremely aggressive and they do it with not care or skill. It was a healthy tree before this started, but since the first scalp its become more and more diseased. Our tree has a lot of sentimental value to our family and this just makes me sick. read more

Great job by Davey tree corporate they damaged our sidewalk then they denied that they were ever on our property even though we have a neighbor who stood and watched the whole thing watch their truck run over our sidewalk on the side of our house over our septic tank access pipe denied it then they said it too and insurance adjuster who did the Great ACT of never returning our phone calls or corresponding with us until they denied our claim these people are out of state working in Florida for power companies damaging property and not taking responsibility of it that's why they're 1.5 billion dollar company because they just roll over whatever they feel like with no repercussions all claims have been denied even though we have witnesses they're from Ohio don't use them we have locals who need work who care about their neighbors read more

Davey Tree thinned and raised the canopy on three 25 year old large oak trees in the front of my house. they were quick and efficient and they left the yard like they were never here. they explained the process and what large sections of the tree they'd be taking before starting. the trees look great and all the dead growth inside has been cleared out. I couldn't be happier with the service they provided! read more

I initially gave a bad review because I felt like our trees were butchered. But today a member of the tree trimming team stopped by and gave an in-depth explanation as to why they cut back so much. The crew came to my house and sat in the truck for an hour ( 11:30 -12:30) eating lunch I think. They started the saws a few minutes later and finished in less then 45 minutes and charged me $800. They did a nice job but the price was excessive. There are plenty of other companies that can do just as good of a job and not charge me so much. They should have at least included stump grinding for that price. It was my understanding that you should always have plywood or pads when you pull a bucket truck on your driveway and this was not done. read more

Where to begin....STAY FAR AWAY from this company. I obtained several bids before deciding to go with this company for tree work. NOT because they were the cheapest, but I thought hey, if the City of Winter Park uses them, and me being a resident, then they must be okay. I applied for my own permit on 9/11, and the Davey rep said that I had plenty of time because this was their busy season and it would be about a month out before the work would be done. They were to call me to let me know when I would be scheduled. Well, on 9/20, 9 DAYS LATER, as I drove home from work and pulled onto my street, I saw Davey trucks in front of my house. THE TWO TREES WERE GONE and I hadn't even received the permit!!! I could not believe my eyes, as I would NEVER have let someone on my property to do tree work without my being there. On top of this, they had damaged a hedge and smaller tree where they had dragged stumps to get them in the truck (there was a much clearer path to do this so there was no need to damage something else!). And, much worse, there were several big long scrapes on our paver driveway! When I asked about it, one of the workers said it was a branch that drug across it, and I said this was not a branch, it looks like chain scrapes...he then says yes, I guess it was a chain scrapes. I called the office to find out what in the world had just happened, and no one knew anything about why they were there without the permit and why I had not been called. The rep, who had given me the quote, came out on 9/21 (the next day) to look at the scrapes and the mess. He said someone from their office would come and pressure wash the scrapes to try and remove them, and that the plants would grow back. So, on 9/28, someone from their office showed up after 10:30 (was supposed to be 8 a.m.) to pressure wash. It is now 11/19, almost TWO MONTHS LATER, and there has been NO follow up to see about the pavers! I sent a customer complaint to the headquarters two weeks ago and NOTHING. I continue to receive invoices for this botched job, but I made it extremely clear that I will not be paying anything until we reconnected to inspect the pavers. I'm still waiting! Not sure how this will turn out, but I can not ever recommend this company. It makes me sad to give a bad review when all I wanted was for the job to be done well. read more

This is the most uncommunicative company I have ever dealt with. I hired them for a $1900 job, and they came out one day and did some work. The weather turned before they finished, and that was understandable, but never came back. When my wife caled in about then coming back, the salesman said he would reschedule it. She never heard back again, and 3 weeks later I called. I left a message for the same salesman, Mike Hoffman. He didnt call back to me either, so I went ahead and called the office. Mike then finally called me and told me he would set it up, and called me back to tell me they would be here last saturday 8/4. After that no show, no call, I called in to the office again on Mon 8/6, and spoke to a woman who told me I was on the schedule for Sat the day 4th, but she had no idea why they didnt come. I told her I wanted to speak to the general manager, and she said his name was Adam, and she would have him call me. Still no call, from anyone! Stay away, this national company has no cred in Orlando!! read more

This is the second tree company we tried for trimming and this time tree removal. They showed up earlier in the day than expected which was great. The two guys did a great job with the trees but did not bring a stump grinder with them. We were then told they would need to call the county out to mark the water lines and then they would be back out. We never heard from them again but luckily the quote was updated to remove the stump grinding. The three star review is for the service that was actually provided. They then called a little over a month later about grinding the stump and told us that they wouldn't be able to do it based on the location. No one from the county had come out to check waterlines. We said that's fine please cancel the service and we thought we were done. Well, yesterday a man showed up at our house out of the blue. Rang the bell once and then proceeded to help himself to walk around our backyard. He was in clothing with no company logo, driving a truck with no company logo, snooping around our backyard. A stranger that we are not expecting opening our back gate and coming onto our property without our acknowledgment or consent, I consider that person to be a threat and I was honestly getting ready to call the cops. When I waited for him to come out of the back yard, I asked him what he was doing. He never identified himself with a name or a company name, he just said that he was there a grind a stump. I told him that we did not seek out that service and were not expecting anyone and again asked him what he was doing on our property. He told me he rang our bell and I didn't answer (in a tone that jusitifed him to have free range of our property). I told him that gives him no right to trespass. On top of this, he didn't even know where the stump was located! So, the guy had no paperwork with him? The stump was located in the front yard, not the backyard! He then just walked away without saying anything, probably cursing me under his breath. VERY UNPROESSIONAL. If I had been in the backyard with my dog when he decided to come onto our property the cops would've been called and I would've gone into defense mode. I called the company immediately after he left to verify that they had sent someone out there and to cancel any service they might have unwillingly signed us up for and I actually received a call back from a supervisor. But the supervisor told me that they didn't send anyone out and didn't know who it was. Maybe it was a contractor? Clearly Davey does not communicate properly. The supervisor told me he'd call me back after "looking into it" and of course never did. So... did I just unknowingly thwart a would be robber? I don't appreciate strangers coming onto our property and then getting an attitude when I question them. If you are on my property without us expecting you, I'm going to assume you're there with ill intent. And if I hadn't have been home when this guy showed up, would he have just grinded the stump without knowing where waterlines were, potentially causing us thousands in damage, and we would've been subject to a bill for a price we did not agree upon? Again, the guy didn't even know where the dang stump was located! Seems like he would've had to have left without performing the work anyways but I guess I'm the problem for asking him what the heck he was doing? And the hunt will be on for yet another tree company... read more

Avoid them and save yourself a lot of grief, overcharging and poor customer service. We contracted with them, and in particular a self- proclaimed expert that Davey sent out to meet with us, with the initials AJ (Davey, if you don't know to whom I am referring, please feel free to reach out and ask me....I am biting my proverbial tongue and not giving his name here), for tree trimming and an annual fertilization contract for multiple palms and other trees. The contract price, as initially agreed to, was just that: contracted for and set, for quarterly treatments/fertilization/nutrition at a set price. Once the first quarterly bill came, it was for 15 percent higher than the contracted rate. The excuse provided to me was that supply and other costs are always 'subject to change'. To keep the peace and hope for a good professional relationship, despite this, we paid it. The next quarterly service was billed to us approximately three months later; however, the treatment never occurred. My emails to them, of which there were several, went unanswered, as did my voice mails to our designated "expert". Nevertheless, they continued to send the invoice with threats of action against us unless we paid it. I finally got ahold of someone, several weeks later, and got them to withdraw the charges for the work that never occurred. In short, they will charge you more than you contract for, at the outset, and then you'll be lucky to hear from or see them again (yet you'll still be billed, in my experience). I have since found a much more responsive, reliable and honest company to assist our needs. read more

My review is based only on the customer service I received to get a bid from this company. However, if the customer service is this bad before you sign, I would beware. Their work may be good and they were recommended by the city but the office representative was so rude and disrespecful, I can't imagine doing business with them would be pleasant. I made an appointment and was given a time for the appointment. When I called the office 20 minutes after the appointment time, the scheduler was extremely rude and denied she had given me the time she gave. In a tough economy where every dollar counts, I would not give them my business. I have a huge job and they missed out on the opportunity. read more
