We came in expecting a supportive and understanding environment, and instead left feeling confused, judged, and honestly a bit shocked. After just a trial day, I was told my child was not invited back -- with very little clear explanation. For a school that specializes in children who may need time to adjust, this felt extremely premature and contradictory to what they advertise. Children with communication challenges don't always show their best on day one -- that's exactly why families seek out schools like this. What was most concerning was the lack of professionalism and communication. When my child was struggling to express something on the playground, I experienced a moment from a staff member that felt dismissive -- including an eye roll -- rather than supportive or patient. As a parent, that is incredibly unsettling, especially in a school that is supposed to be equipped to handle communication challenges with care and understanding. Instead of guidance or collaboration, I was left with more questions than answers. If this school is truly designed to support children with different learning needs, there should be more patience, clearer communication, and a willingness to work with families -- especially on a first visit. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the inclusive and supportive environment that is promoted. I would not recommend based on our experience.

We were at a very well known school that unfortunately would not continue to educate my son and less I medicated him. Him only being in kindergarten that was not an option at the time for us. OakHill not only helped my son learn to read but now has made it where reading is one of his favorite past times. The teachers are wonderful and truly care about the students along with the principal and all staff members. We have been at the school for going on six years now and you cannot put a price on the confidence the education and happiness this son has helped and still and my son. If I could give 100 stars I would, there actually is not enough stars to grade how amazing this school is. I read the review above stating that the principal is a bully I'm sorry that that person had an experience in that manner. In the six years I have gone there I have not heard anyone else complain about that problem and frankly feel that it is false. Many many would agree that Oakhill and their staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone involved in your child's education and happiness is on your team. I am a single mother and father is not in the picture. I have not once felt judged or looked down upon. In fact I have never felt more comfortable and confident in my life knowing Oakhill is in our lives. Thank you Oakhill and Staff for helping me educate and raise such a smart sweet boy. We have gone to the best and we have researched it all. Oakhill Is not just a place for education, it is also a place that we call home. If you are so blessed to have a child that would need the type of education Oakhill provides then you would be doing your child and yourself a disservice if you didn't give them a try to see what options are needed for your child. This is an update to my original review as of 5/16/2024…read more Miss Bloomingdale's continues to be such a great school for our youngest daughter. She is now 5, and in the Pre-K/Kindergarten program, and just loves all her teachers there. Miss Chere is clearly one of her favorites. And even though she is not in Miss Chere's class anymore, she always wants to make sure I take her to Miss Chere's classroom so she can say hi to her and give her a hug. But all the teachers continue to be great. And Miss Bloomingdale's as an institution is really an excellent value. For the combination of care, education and tuition rates...they are well worth it. And it's evident that they do the best they can to keep their tuition rates as reasonable as possible while still being able to provide a quality education and stay in business in this highly competitive environment. This is a locally-owned, family-run business that I'm proud to support, and I genuinely feel they have been overall a better fit for our family than other daycares/schools in the area that are most likely cookie cutter franchises -- and more expensive.

My children also have experienced transitioning from one environment to the next due to age and readiness of skills. Here's a few examples of what I love about my children attending Park Cities Montessori in their crucial early years of life. The skill set of building concentration on one activity and putting it away before moving on to the next is huge. It teaches a sense of order, helps build patience and perseverance within a task, as well as learning how to take turns and wait until the work becomes available. No matter what activity the children engage in, there is a focus on the process and the beauty of slowing down. There is also ample opportunities for the children to experience nature. There is the crucial benefit to circle time and singing with one another and building camaraderie with one another as a class family. Zero screen time is a huge piece of what makes PCM great because it encourages children to use their imagination and engage in exploration when boredom arises. The practical life skills that my children have developed is incredible. When out in public, the amount of strangers that compliment the table manners our children have at such a young age is a testament to the time they spend at PCM. We put the work in at home, but it is with the guidance and advice from PCM that has led us down such a successful path. Plus it's super cute to see our 20 month old walking everywhere he goes with his hands behind his back. Finally, one irreplaceable quality that PCM staff demonstrates is the love they have for each of their children. My son was enrolled in Nido from 9 months old- 18months old. His bond was so strong with his Nido teachers that after he transitioned to the toddler environment, he would constantly want to show them the new things he was learning and show off his new glasses. The staff always made time for him and made him feel seen, even at a young age. My daughter started in the toddler environment when she was 2.5 years old and transitioned to the Children's House environment a month before she turned 3. Changing environments was worrisome because she was going to be part of a larger class with new teachers and it's always hard to start anew. However, she was always filled with joy and looked forward to going to school. She would get sad when the week was coming to an end and I know that's because of the love she had from her teachers and the love of learning they instilled in her. I cannot thank these ladies enough for everything they have done for my children. I also have a unique perspective being a toddler teacher at PCM and have grown very attached to my class of children. We learn all kinds of skill sets together from putting on our shoes independently, to what it means to listen and create friendships with each other, to learning endless vocabulary, as well as learning how to navigate through big feelings with one another. The children have become a part of me and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Tears fill my eyes as I write this review because I'm so grateful for Park Cities Montessori. Do yourself a favor and get on the waiting list- fast. You do not want to miss the opportunity for your children and family to join an incredible community.

PCM has become a second home to our children and the teachers have become surrogate parents to our girls while we are working. They have both grown leaps and bounds over the two years they have been there. Reading, writing, vocabulary, independence, confidence, practical life skills - academically and emotionally I couldn't be more thrilled with their progress and I credit PCM with fostering all of these qualities in a loving and positive environment. Looking back on our experience, there is absolutely no question in my mind that the 2+ years we spent with St. Christopher's were the best for not only our boys (now 5- & 6-years old), but our whole family. From the smart, personable, and observant teachers, to the diverse (international!) feel of the community, to the bright & welcoming atmosphere created by Becky and the front desk staff, St. Christopher's truly raised the bar for our expectations of a school & faculty. Prior to finding St. Christopher's, our boys had attended both Montessori and non-Montessori schools in the White Rock Lake/Lake Highlands areas, and they've attended 3 other schools (1 Montessori, 1 public, and 1 private) in Dallas & Rowlett since. Being a part of so many different schools (not all of which were bad, by the way!) has taught us to appreciate the "small" things (hygiene!, front desk friendliness, student diversity, parental involvement) as well as the "big" things (safety/security, curriculum, communication, caring & nurturing atmosphere). St. Christopher's gave us all of those things and then some. As parents, we always felt welcome, and we rested assured knowing that our children were being exposed to cool neat things (languages, art, etc.) and ideas by people who cared about them & their respective development (our boys are pretty different from one another!). When my wife & I finally settled down in Rowlett (20 miles east of Dallas), our biggest regret was that we'd have to leave St. Christopher's - and even then, we made the daily 2-hour commute until we couldn't take it anymore. If you have the opportunity to send your kids here, I truly can't recommend it highly enough. It's the best, most nurturing and inspiring school we came across. They forewarn you that it may seem they aren't learning anything but it will show in a couple of years. That is crap. My daughter really wasn't learning anything because all she wanted to do was play & that's what they let her do all day. She was at another Montessori & learned more there in 3 mths then what she learned at MCHS in a year. I raised concerns with the guide like the director told us to & instead of trying to resolve the issue she just hated me & basically refused to talk to me. On 3 occasions I left messages for her to call me directly & she would say the answer to the secretary & that secretary would call me back, this became extremely frustrating when I had follow up questions. The director never believed how rude or callous her teacher was so I took a recorder to one of the parent teacher conferences to prove to her how she acted. As soon as it was my turn to go in she walked out her class to go get the director. The guide only said maybe 3 words while the director talked the rest of the time & answered questions I directed towards the guide. There was zero communication between myself and the teacher. I also had concerns about her coming home looking like she rolled around in a mud pit. Her pants and shoes had chunks of mud on them. MCHS never did anything about it. The guide dismissed us and the director just said that's how kids are. I spoke with at least 2 other parents who also had the same concern about the dirtiness. Yes kids can get messy but there is a line & adults should "guide" them to not get so dirty. They show you how some kids are solving complex math problems & other advanced projects but I guess it's only for their favorites because I never saw my daughter or anyone in her class do any of that. Also, her teacher told me that my daughter doesn't want to learn! I was shocked to hear such nonsense! Never ever has my daughter not wanted to learn! She is quite the opposite & all of her previous 4 teachers in other schools & current teachers can attest to that. They always are Surprised at how quickly & how much she wants to learn, even her Arabic teacher at DIS wants to put her in advanced classes. One time my mom sat in class to observe & she observed 2 kids pushing a little girl outside & locking her out. It took several minutes for the teacher to figure this out & my mom wasn't allowed to talk or "interfere" (as the guide said). When they finally brought the parents in to discuss what occurred they basically ushered them away from my mom when she greeted them. We knew those parents & finally told them the true story of what occurred (MCHS gave another version). I almost forgot my favorite complaint. My daughter was still perfecting her potty skills & one time she peed on herself & went to the bathroom to change. She couldn't get her pants off & was too shy to ask for help & she fell asleep on the bathroom floor for 10-15 minutes until the teacher finally checked in on her! I was so infuriated! What if she had fallen & busted her head open?! She would have bled out before they found her. Several times I picked her up with her pants soaked from urine. She has a change of clothes there & that witch just let her be wet in a 60 degree environment. My daughter had some of the worst rashes & colds because of this callous treatment. I would have been better off leaving her with a pack of monkeys than these guides. (At least the monkeys would lick her but clean!) It seems like they are just watching over the class but not really taking care of them or teaching them. I can't remember the teachers name. She's an older puerto rican lady. My daughter was at Garland Montessori where she learned a lot but the owner seemed too creepy for me. Now she is at Spanish House & we both love it. She learns sooo much! They have a Montessori way of teaching but with more guidance than MCHS (where the kids do whatever they want). I actually went to Spanish House last May & begged for a spot--i was 3rd on the waiting list. I told the director about the terrible problems we have at MCHS & she called me 2 hours later to tell me she gave my baby a spot so she won't continue to suffer at MCHS. Can I tell u I was sooo relieved & elated that I cried! SH has been the best move ever. She had attended their summer session previously & loved her teachers. The owners are this wonderful, sweet couple that also has their kids in their school. Now my daughter loves school. That being said, there are numerous parents that are happy with that MCHS but my experience was horrific. I would never recommend MCHS but others do. I'm just one untold experience. If she wasn't in SH I would put her in Dallas International School, that's where she takes her Arabic class & the teachers & staff I have interacted with are awesome.
