It has become very hard to find a good groomer on the Monterey Peninsula since the Covid exodus. We have had two groomers leave the area. My dog has been on "wait lists" for months and was not looking very good. Two friends told me about The Dawg House and I was able to get him in. Believe me when I say he was a M E S S!! His new groomer, Stacy, took three hours and he looks like himself again; such a fantastic experience! (And he also looks puppy-like!) I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. I first found out about it through family, but I can honestly say I'd still be raving even if I'd just walked in off the street. The salon itself is spotless, modern, and smells amazing (which is saying something for a dog grooming spot!). Olivia, Destiny, and everyone else are absolutely incredible with the dogs -- patient, gentle, and seriously detail-oriented. You can tell they take real pride in their work and treat every pup like their own. It's rare a dog goes to the groomer and leaves RELAXED, and that's been my experience here. It was a horrible ordeal with receptionist and manager! I submitted all needed paperwork from vet and breeder. It was accepted by city of Marina, Marina Pet Hospital, Nation Wide Pet Insurance but not to this uneducated establishment . This so called Dawg House was presented by official paperwork from vet and official paperwork from very well known breeder( my dog was raised as a mobility assistant for people with MS). Although the note about vaccination was handwritten, it was written on official form from breeder's establishment. If the request was so needed, they could just contact breeder. They didn't! Instead the manager refused the service asking me for an empty bottle of vaccine! How that for a real proof?! I understand the need for proof of rabies vaccine. To ask for more vaccines I think is wrong especially if it is already had been provided . Besides, have we as humans ever provide proof of vaccination to hairdressers? Groomers are headdressers for pets! Hotels? Restaurants? Just think how ridiculous this sounds! I strongly advise everyone to stay away from them. Just so you know, I am a pro-vaccine person. My dog takes monthly dosage of Interceptor( heartworm prevention) and Nextguard( fleas prevention). I provided them with those boxes, but no, that wasn't enough. We had one excellent grooming visit with our dog. The next time was simply the worst cut he has ever had. It was uneven all-around, parts neglected, parts too short. We took him right back inside, and no explanation was provided. No compensation offered, and it was not corrected. A strange experience. It's a shame, b/c the first visit was terrific. read more

Took my dear 14 year old Lucy to the Dawg House this week as they had a cancellation and could get my maltese/poodle rescue in quickly. Not only did she have a lovely bath and cut over two hours, but a vet technician who was at the front desk alerted me to an existing problem on Lucy's cheek/mouth and prompted me to take her next door to a clinic. Am grateful for their advice and vigilance. Lucy is on the mend now and was treated gently and with care. Thank you, Dawg House!! read more

Thought this place would be a good one, but they cut my cavapoo during her haircut and didn't tell me about it. They claim they didn't know. But the cut was pretty bad (it needed 5 stitches) I saw it when I was almost home (my daughter held our dog during our drive home) which I live 40 minutes away. They were able to fix the issue the same day and they were really apologetic, but I had to drive back twice to get her stitches and to get them taken out (gas is expensive and I have two little kids) I feel like it was a pain with all the time and extra money I put into it and I didn't get anything compensated when this wasn't my fault. I reached out to them that this experience was frustrating and they have ignored my text.Thought this place was gonna be my go to groomer, but don't waste your money. 95 dollars for a bath, haircut and nails filed. Nothing more when that is the big package. read more

I took my daughter's puppy in today to have her nails clipped. This place is bright and clean and the person who helped us was extremely friendly and kind. Even though Labradors don't really need a professional groomer as much as other breeds, I plan on taking the pup back again at the end of the month. read more

After having a horrific experience at a previous groomer in Monterey, I was skeptical about taking my pups to get groomed again. However, my Maltese was in dire need of a groom. The Dawg House popped up one day randomly under my "recommendations" list after I searched and called other places for DAYS. 10/10 recommend this company. I feel very comfortable bringing my pups back to get groomed. The staff are the nicest grooming staff I have ever encountered and if I could have hugged them I would have. They had appointments available the next day and even moved up my scheduled slot for an earlier time which was fantastic. Overall, they were so gentle and patient with with my pups. I have a 16 year old chihuahua and Maltese. My Maltese is running around and feeling like her young self again and my heart is full. Thank you Dawg House! Five stars! Paula did an absolutely fantastic job with my 4-year old labradoodle. My little girl has serious anxiety issues and hates being groomed....Paula was super patient, sweet, and kind with her. She understood exactly what I was looking for with just one phone conversation and gave her the *perfect* cut, which was not too short but still completely even and free of mats and tangles. She came back looking and smelling amazing, with most adorable little pink flower attached to her collar (which we have not taken off!) The appointment was easy to schedule with Gisella (she moved us up by a couple of days when a slot opened, which was terrific) and all the paperwork was done conveniently and quickly online. Just a great experience all around! SO relieved and happy to have found them!! read more
