I chose this salon because was within walking distance from my new apartment. I finally got a text message saying they didn't have a receptionist, and they would contact me shortly with a date and time. 3 more days went by and I texted again. After having a blonde foil by Nikki at the Desert Lounge I had a very severe reaction to a Redken product she used containing PPD. PPD is a petroleum byproduct that causes severe contact dermatitis. I called Nikki to let her know I was having this reaction. she said' her manager Evan Stowers told her this had happened at least twice at the salon". I told Nikki I was going to ER because it was so painful. I have had painful recurrent outbreaks for a month now. I asked for a refund and or help with my medical bills and prescriptions. Evan and Nikki have refused to help in anyway. I would not recommend this salon. read more

I drove almost 2 hours from Las Vegas to St. George to get my hair done by Taylor. And let me tell you, it was totally worth it. She cut, colored, and did beaded weft extensions for me. I cant even tell I am wearing extensions. They aren't to tight, and they look very natural. I will be back for my 8 week move up! read more

Very pleased with my experience at The Desert Lounge Salon! I haven't found a stylist I like where I live and started to research areas in St. George as we were visiting family. I saw good reviews for this salon and looked through their Instagram. So many talented stylists! I chose to book with Courtney Taylor and I'm SO happy I did!!! She did a phenomenal job. I told her what I wanted and my concerns with what I've had done in the past. She laid out a perfect plan and executed it! I am THRILLED! On top of loving my hair, I loved the environment. I've had a few experiences at Desert Lounge Salon, with two different stylists. The first was pretty great, but the second not so much. I was quite surprised because it is the owner of the salon that disappointed me. He was heavy handed (pulled at my hair and was the opposite of gentle), sloppy, talked about himself the whole time, left my hair wet, and rushed me out of the door. My haircut is uneven. I told him I wanted longer bangs and he cut them short. I was tense the whole time and couldn't feel comfortable. All around it was a horrible experience, which sucks because I don't feel like I can go back in again even to have another stylist work on my hair. I'm still so angry that I'm writing this review after some time after and this is my very first review on Yelp ever. I'm that upset. This salon spends so much time posting pictures of beautiful hair on Instagram, so it truly makes me wonder why I didn't have the same experience. Bad night? Were they just slammed? It just doesn't feel like there's any excuse. People go to salons to feel pampered and beautiful, but I left feeling anything but. Plus...dude...you're the owner. The boss guy. The teacher. Makes no dang sense. You're the last one I would have expected this from. My advice is to take your time with clients. Listen to them. Ask questions. Be gentle and encouraging. Give them a finished product aka don't let them leave with unfinished and wet hair. I don't care if you have to lie or if you're stressed or busy or you have to make your next client wait.
