I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! I originally purchased the tickets for my fiancee and me, thinking it would be just a silly thing to see in the heart of OKC. A different sort of date night, and I wasn't holding my expectations too high. My man is a lawyer so I thought maybe he'd like to experience a who-dun-it. The actors come from all over the city - some are improv, some are students, all are hilarious. The whole time I was waiting to see who was actually an actor and who was just super extroverted...and there were a couple of both! OMG YOU GUYS. I HAD SO MUCH FUN. My face hurt from laughing. The comedy was spoofy but not overdone, the dinner was the perfect portion (not too much, and not as much as I was expecting, but it takes three hours so well digested) and the chocolate cake at the end wasn't bad either. I liked having an option before getting there, so you already knew what you ordered as did the wait staff. If you are looking for an amazing date night that leaves you in suspense and full of pop culture jokes, GO TO THIS and have a wonderful time. PS the bar is cash only, but well worth it ! read more

We were served chicken and salmon. Both were extremely dry. Our whole table (8) left most of their meat. The meatballs served for appetizers were excellent but they went fast. The salad was excellent. But rabbit food (lettuce, cheese and some kind of garnish) only goes so far. The service was excellent. But only water was offered. No tea or soft drinks. Bar was available for $. The show itself is probably the worst murder mystery I've ever attended. The paid "actors" read their lines and while it added to the silliness of it, it was rather distracting. Not sure if one of them already had too much to drink or if it was part of his character but he acted inebriated. Our table (of 6) also was the only table that was not included in the skit. The table next to us was hit on at least 5 times and the rest 2-4 times. So for us, it was boring. The Guthrie mystery dinner is lots better and the actors really know their skit and involve the whole audience. read more

Great show! We enjoyed the Dinner Detective at the Skrivin for a family birthday celebration. We came in not knowing what to expect and left glad we tried it! Before you enter the dining area you have to pick your alias and write it on a name tag. This was a fun addition to the show, many people got very creative, lots of word play and puns! The show itself was pretty good, the actors did well, although you could very quickly pick out each actor after talking to them versus talking to one of us less prepared awkward participants.(And yes I said talk to, they insist you do some interviewing at the beginning, a rough task for our extremely introverted family). However they do offer a bar in the corner of the room, so if you are interested in any of that action I would suggest hitting that up and the night will more than likely go much more smoothly for you! Once the show officially starts your meals begin. Throughout the show they bring you salad, your main entree (chicken or fish) and dessert(cheesecake). Overall the food was very good, I really liked the chicken and the bit of spice that was added to it. While I normally enjoy salad, I could have done without this one. It was aggressively leafy and the plate was too small for any movement at all. The two options for dressing was ranch and some sort of Italian vinaigrette, I would suggest the ranch, as the Italian did not work well for me personally. The dessert for the night was cheesecake and it was very good, can't go wrong with cheesecake! Our meal was appropriately timed throughout the performance. Plenty of time to eat and plenty of time to consider clues. The actors all did well, we laughed and had a great time so at the end of the day it was a success! read more

You would think the food would taste somewhat good since it is at the Skirvin Hilton downtown, however that's not the case. The food was the worst part about it. Also, the valet parking seemed like it was cheaper since we were attending the show for the night but it is the same $15 charge. It was my first time doing something like this and I enjoyed it all. Uncommunicative and dishonest, avoid doing business with this company. Weeks of attempted communication via emails, website inquiries and phone calls were all ignored. Two separate phone appointments were set to discuss plans and booking and we were stood up on both occasions with no notification and no calls received during the times we had booked with them for calls, Once we finally badgered them long enough to receive a response we were then provided with dishonest booking information. It was only after we had agreed to a date, venue and plans that we were then told that they had lied to us about the terms that they had provided to us for booking and now they were going to change the terms to charge us hundreds of dollars more than what we had previously been told, and which was in direct conflict with their written materials, both on their website and that they had given us, showing pricing and terms that they were no longer going to honor. Once we showed them that the materials provided to us and on their website offered deceitful terms than they were now not going to honor, they confirmed the fraudulent nature of the switch and offered no remedy. This company is as shady and dishonest as they come and you should find any other offering possible (of which, there are many, better, ethical options), for this type of event. read more

This was a memorable date night for my boyfriend and I!! Booking our reservation online was easy to do, and you pick your entree (chicken, salmon, or vegetarian) ahead of time too so the wait staff knows what to serve you. The show was being held in the Sheraton in downtown Oklahoma City. Once we got into the lobby of the hotel the friendly hotel staff pointed us in the direction of the Dinner Detective Show that was taking place in a large event room of the hotel. During our check in we got a sheet of paper that explained some general guidelines of the dinner/show and on the back of the piece of paper were some guiding interview questions to help you to interrogate the people sitting at your table and all around the room and a section for taking notes! Also during check in we got to pick out an alias name to write down on a name tag and wear it for the evening. The more clever the alias name, the more fun you'll have embracing your alias character the whole night! Once we entered the event room our table was assigned to us, so we located our table and grabbed some appetizers and started mingling around the room to get to know other people. Thankfully those sample interview questions given to us at check in really did come in handy because I'm not the best at small talk! There was also a mini bar located in the corner of the room that served beer and wine. After the appetizers and mingling the hosts asked for us to find our seats. The salad was already at our table to begin eating, and all of a sudden the show began very unexpectedly!! I don't want to give anything away here but you will be on edge the whole dinner not really knowing what to expect next or when to expect it! The show lasts for 3 hours, with a few breaks here and there to give people time to actually enjoy their food, use the restroom, and ponder over who could be potential suspects! I was totally shocked, in a good way, by how well the actors kept their covers since they are literally placed all around you and could even be sitting at your table!! At the end of the show, during the dessert portion, we got to fill out an answer form to explain who we think committed the murder and why. The hosts pick one winner who guesses the suspect right and has a good explanation for why and that guest wins a prize. My only complaints were about the food and service during the evening. On the Dinner Detective website it discusses how the food will be a 4-course meal, and I know I didn't eat much the day leading up to our dinner show, but I was not too wowed by the amount of food that was served. I was left still feeling hungry at the end of the night! Also, the event room we were in was very warm temperature-wise, which made it difficult to get comfortable. Lastly, the servers weren't very attentive to our waters being refilled. We felt like we were bothering the wait staff just to get more water throughout the show. I get that the wait staff probably didn't want to interrupt any of the action, but we could've used a large water pitcher sitting at our table the whole night to share so as to limit their interruptions. Since the Dinner Detective actors and hosts couldn't really control the service and food I still think they deserve 5 stars for a wonderful and unique evening that I'll never forget!! read more

I liked being able to pick a new name for myself when we walked in. It was fun trying to stay in character for the entire evening. My date and I were both surprised when two of the people sitting at our table turned out to be members of the cast! We didn't suspect them of that at all. We both managed to identify the murderer correctly, but we didn't win the prize. The actors had us laughing through each act. The food was okay. I don't care for brie, so the baked brie appetizer was not appealing. The salad tasted good and was presented well. The ranch and balsamic dressings tasted like food service grade dressings - not bad but made on the premises. We both ordered the tilapia entree. The rice was cooked and seasoned well. The tilapia was fork-tender and had a mildly sweet sauce on it. The accompanying green beans were also fork-tender. Some other guests at our table got the chicken parmesan. They got two rather large chicken breasts on each plate. If you really like chicken, then this is a good one to get. Otherwise, I would advise going with the fish. For dessert, we had creme brulee . I don't care for this dish very much, so I appreciated the smaller serving size. Those watching their diets will appreciate it, too. Our primary complaint on the night is that the room was far too cold. Most guests (including me) were shivering all night. We were told at the beginning by our host that the temperature would rise, but it never did. read more

This show was amazing! I secretly signed up my hubby for a suspect package before taking him there for his birthday. He was really surprised by how smoothly they included him and we had SO much fun laughing at the actors' antics! We talked about it the whole hour and a half drive home. The only downside is our faces hurt from smiling so much! (An awesome problem!) The food was great too, and very appetizingly presented. So, so worth the trip.
