The food was awful and the actors were terrible. Don't waste your money. The only thing that was good, was the service.

Fifty-five bucks for dinner and a show. Not bad at all…read more When you walk into Bravo on Saturday night, keep on walking (more or less parallel to the bar), until you see the staircase up to the second floor. You will emerge into a big private dining room which doubles as the home of The Murder on Us Dinner theater. They rotate a series of different plays, and tonight, as we hit the top of the stairs, we were greeted by the perplexing sight of a coffin ! We started off with a cocktail hour, and about half way through our drinks, we heard the sound of a wailing banshee. The mourners had arrived ! We met four members of the O'Sullivan clan, and Mary Margaret who were all on hand for our play -Murder at the Irish Wake. They mingled with us in character for a half hour before we were seated, and that was a lot of fun. Scenes of the play were interwoven through the various courses of dinner - soup, salad, your choice of four pre-selected entrees (Sirloin, Salmon, Chicken, or Rigatoni, all with mashed potatoes and a medley of vegetables), a terrific loaf of fresh French bread, and a slice of chocolate cake. The play involved the mid-wake death of one of the mourners, and we had to figure out who the murderer was, how the dastardly deed was accomplished, and what the motive was. It wasn't fine dining, and it wasn't Al Pacino or Meryl Streep, but we sure had a very fun time!

The performance starts upon arrival with lively greetings. The venue allowed for the event to take place on the second floor which we had all to ourselves. The venue was a great place for a murder mystery as after dinner we were allowed to wander in specific areas to continue searching for 'clues.' We definitely liked that the characters were interactive and polite plus kept their role at all times! A few things we would have liked to see differently: 1. There were too many tables (we were Table #1 and way too close to the bar) 2. When we were done eating only half the people had made their way up to the food- left for lagging time 3. The food was not wonderful (see Bull mansion review) 4. 1 tray of dessert for ALL those people?! WEAK. 5. We thought they could have utilized their time a little better (like too much down time wondering when is this going to start up or pick up?) We had fun, enjoyed their humor even making jokes very relevant to current time. If you are thinking about taking a child 12-17 you might want to re-think it since there is adult humor included! They allow 12+ in but really leave the kids at home and have a night out! Heads up- there are prizes so put your best detective skills to play! Overall the cast did a nice job.

I was excited to see that the Lion King was playing at the Providence Performing Arts Center! The theater is very easy to get to and there is a ton of parking nearby. Admissions was swift and not crowded - they definitely are organized and know how to keep the traffic moving. They sell various snacks and some are even locally made like the popcorn I bought. The venue itself is beautiful, especially the theater. The seats are as you would expect - velvety and small. The sound and lights were great. I really enjoyed the show. I will say that at times, I felt distracted - it seemed like the audience was louder than I expected - especially with the snack bags. Oh well, what can you do At intermission the women's bathroom was a little bit of a you know what. But this seems to be a common problem with older theaters. Regardless, I had a great time and would def come back to see another show!

I went to see The Lion King and it was fabulous! The theater is small enough to capture the details without binoculars or an additional screen. The music was captivating. The colors were vivid. The storyline was familiar, and the characters were great. I would absolutely go back to PPAC to watch this play, and looking forward to other plays coming later this year and next year.
