He just turned 4 and is in the Sunflower classroom with Ms. Thanh and Ms. Hillary. This was our first time leaving our kid in the care of others who are not family. We were feeling a little anxious. But when we toured the facility with Ms. Varsha and Ms. Lucy and met the teachers, we instantly knew he would be safe and well cared for. They are very warm and welcoming and most importantly our son felt comfortable with them. The communication is great. We get updates throughout the day about if he's eating and when he's napping. They'll send pictures and videos as well. If there's an incident we are notified. He fell on the playground and got a scraped knee, they reported it with photos and how he was feeling. And they cleaned him up. Any concerns or questions that we have, they respond quickly. We get weekly lesson plans and weekly newsletters that report what they learned in class and what parents should focus on at home to reinforce their learning. Their summer program is a lot of fun. Each week their lessons are themed. They have water days and lego days once a week, and they also have people come for different types of activities. Every day, I would rush to drop him off with mixed-matched socks and messy hair, but my son always came home well-groomed, clean, happy, and singing out loud about what he learned at daycare on the ride home I still vividly remember observing how my son never had diaper rash while at daycare. I used to joke that on weekends his little bottom would turn red, but by Monday evening it would be magically fine again -- all thanks to how gently and carefully the teachers cared for him. I once asked the teacher what their secret was, and the teacher just smiled kindly and said they simply have set up a routine schedule for that, and sometimes this the little things that busy parents might sometimes miss. Now they're even helping him through potty training -- with the same patience and love. Even as a toddler, my son learned to care for the younger babies by watching how the teachers showed such love and patience every day. Ms. Anita, especially, cares for every child. She is so observant and attentive, and always keeps me updated about how my kids are doing and feeling. When our family went through a time of loss a few months ago, my son struggled with grief in ways I didn't expect. Ms. Anita noticed and gently shared how sometimes he seemed super sad and groomy -- her care extended far beyond the classroom walls. With her support and presence, my child felt seen and held during that difficult time. Together, they learned about dinosaurs, sea animals, holiday traditions, ladybugs, and caterpillars -- all in both English and Spanish. and got to first-hand experience with the lifecycle of butterflies She even drew her favorite moment: a picture of Ms. Anita and The Little Rainbow-- and that drawing said all the love her heart wanted to say. It really does take a village to raise a child, and The Little Rainbow Daycare is that village for us. The teachers genuinely love the children. That care overflew to our parents has come to know and support one another too -- sharing learning stories, lending a hand, and looking after each other's kids as we get to know them more. In this busy Bay Area, where many of us don't have extended family nearby, Little Rainbow has become that bigger family for us.
