We have two kids that currently attend MCS and we have been really happy. The teachers have been great. Our kids have learned so much with the core subjects. In addition, the school also offers extracurricular activities such as band, clay art, debate, and others which they totally love. The entire staff is always helpful and caring, and there is a family feeling here. If you are looking for a great school with great teachers and staff, I would recommend checking out MCS. We had checked out a few schools before landing on MCS, and we were glad that we made the right decision. read more

My son goes to this school since Kindergarten. He is now in 5th grade. Let me tell you why I am pleased with this school. 1) The teachers are very hard-working. They respond to Emails even after 8pm. 2) The teachers are very encouraging to the students. My son asked the teacher a question. The teacher will say, wow you are so detailed. They didn't just reply to the question but gave encouraging words 3) Happy Students. I have interviewed many parents before sending my son here and they all said their kids are very happy attending this school. 4) Polite students. I once took a cake to my son's school and shared the cake with his classmates. When I left, 3 or 4 students came to me and said thank you. 5) Strict discipline. My son was kicked out of school for 1 day because another kid misled him. He had to write an apology letter per the teacher's request. I am pleased with this because I want a school to be strict on discipline. If you are being late or bully other kids or misbehave, and no consequence is given, this is not good for the child. So I am glad my son learned the lesson early. 6) Extremely generous. They give generous financial aid, and I am very thankful 7) A lot of after-school enrichment program choices. read more

Gavin attended summer school here. This was highly recommended to me so I figured I would cut my limbs to offer as tuition fees since enrolling him literally cost me an arm and a leg. Registration was pretty straightforward. Look out for the deadlines. You can always call and talk to the staff here. They have all been super helpful and informative. Registration is cash or check only, no credit cards. Summer school was 8:30am-12pm. Not a whole lot of time but I liked the teacher to student ratio. Gavin's teacher (Mrs. Dawson) was very sweet and thorough. I received an email about Gavin's overall progress and feedback from the teacher on a Saturday. I knew where he was at but I was glad the teacher noticed it, too. The drop-off and pick-up are pretty self-explanatory and I can say that this school will work w/ you IF you cannot meet the times listed. I was having a problem w/ my sitter dropping Gavin off too early. Thanks to them I was able to help them (the sitter) understand how critical it is to not leave any child unattended. It was actually very scary but we got it resolved. Will have him attend next summer. read more

I've been sending my daughter to school here for the past three years and before COVID we were already happy with the school. The staff is attentive, kept us informed of our child's development, and there were helpful activities and field trips that expanded their knowledge beyond the school. It was during COVID and what is happening now, that MCS has truly become more than what we wanted for our child. First, when the shutdown occurred the school was very responsive to the pandemic. Parents were told on Wednesday that our school is closing and that we will be learning remotely on Google Classroom. The next day, parents were scheduling for pick up of their school items and instructions of how to sign up our kids for remote learning. On Friday, I had pickup all of my child's workbooks and we were given final instructions on how to sign into Google Classroom. On Monday morning our daughter was learning remotely with lessons plans setup for them. By the following week all classes, music, bible, and PE were up and running online. Sure, there were hiccups and technical problems, but anyone who has transitioned to a new laptop or new system at work knows that there are always problems with this new change and it takes time for all the bugs to be worked out. The key here is that our daughter did not lose out on any lessons plans. It was 9-3 learning and we didn't feel like our child's brain was rotting away while the school district was trying to get their act together. This was a common complaint with many of our friends who had their kid in the public school districts. Yet, it was the start of the new school year where we were blown away at the level of preparations and vast improvement of the remote program. Everything the school did was to the benefit of the parent and the child. From picking up school supplies, to providing access to online learning, to weekly school wide Zoom meetings where parents can ask questions, MCS has done everything to make this the best school experience we have ever had (including pre-COVID times). The remote learning process was even better than the previous year. Part of it was due to the kids familiarly of the remote learning, but almost everything was by far a better experience. As working parents, the most difficult part is trying to handle our work responsibilities while helping our child with the lesson plan. This was completely REMOVED at the start of the year. Sure there were occasional technical problems like our Wifi went down or my daughter didn't understand how to take a picture, but those were few and far in between. At the very beginning we basically sat our daughter down in the morning and she had LIVE lesson plans and instruction from the teacher. We interacted with them during snack time, and lunch and that was IT!!! We stopped hovering over our kid after the first few days. It was amazing to have a conference call and not have to be interrupted by my child asking on how to do the assignment because now the teacher was right there answering the question! Now what really set the school apart in remote learning was that there was live instruction for the WHOLE DAY!!!! We had family friends who had kids in the Saratoga and Milpitas School District and the max live instruction they had were three hours. Then the kids were off on their own. Pretty hard to work without a live instructor around to address questions or issues. After MCS obtained exception for in person classroom, we were hesitant in sending our kid to school. Yet, the protocols they had in place and the spacing they implemented between the desk by removing the divider and turning two classrooms into one, made us comfortable in sending out child to school. Though parent still had the opportunity to do remote learning, we felt that even the best remote learning can never beat live instruction. Things like developing communication and social skills can not be learned on a computer. In summary, we have already recommended this school to all of our family and friends. As in my past review, there is nothing I take more seriously than my child's welfare and education and this school has earn top marks in my eyes. read more

I've had the privilege of being an Milpitas Christian School parent since 2014. As a parent, I can't ask for more than being able to drop off my sons and know they are educated, safe and loved by a caring faculty and staff. Teachers and staff go above and beyond to communicate with me and my wife which I love. The music and STEM programs are very well put together and offer many opportunities to my kids unleash their creativity. The fact that my sons are being taught the importance of truth, values and having a strong morality compass is what really seals it for me. My son started his 2nd year at MCS after we pulled him out of Ruskin Elementary. Ruskin is one of the best public schools in the area, but the CA Teachers Union and the Public School System do NOT have the student's best interests in mind. We are very happy with MCS; my son's reading has improved after being below grade level. The customer service is outstanding, and the teachers are great at teaching. I love that MCS teaches the same Christian values at school that we teach my son at home. He has made many friends in the past year and thrives emotionally, spiritually, and academically. Parents beware: "Mean girls" are present at MCS! Though the school touts its anti-bullying curriculum, its efficacy remains questionable. The nurturing, Christian environment the school fosters is also its Achilles heel--the administrators and teachers do not take a firm enough stance on bullying and other behavioral issues. Through endless flowing tears, my child said these heart-wrenching words to me one day: "I treat others like the Bible tells me to but not everyone does what the Bible says." That was in Kindergarten. (Yes! That young!!!) Now a 7th grader, my child is again confronted by mean girls. I cannot fight her battles for her, and it PAINS me to see her suffering day after day. When I asked my child, "What can I, the principal, or teachers do to help," my 7th grader said, "Teachers and adults at the school who allow bullying to perpetuate are in no position to aid the situation. They should just keep turning a blind eye since that seems to be what they want to do anyway." Powerful words from a child who survived bullying at MCS. (THANK YOU Mr. Richards for helping my child find self-worth and confidence!) There are only roughly 40 students in any given grade (2 classes of 20), so "social" issues common in the upper grade levels are HIGHLY concentrated. Many of the children have been together since K or 1st grade. If a couple of kids don't like you, it's really hard to hide or make "new" friends because there are so few students and new transfer students are RARE (but a welcomed blessing). I have been a long-time supporter of MCS and have recommended countless families to the school. The school has its positives and negatives. MCS is not "the best" school in the Bay Area; it does have a blemish or two. The elementary program, anchored by knowledgeable, loving teachers like V. Urbach, K. Carag, and K. Uzake, is strong and the small class sizes seem more advantageous for this age group. Each teacher has a dedicated aide to grade papers so the focus is on teaching and your child. More face time with teacher per child. The middle school program is academically strong but socially broken. Some teachers are too rigid and set unattainably high expectations. Students with learning disabilities or committed to after-school sports are at a huge disadvantage because the homework load is relentlessly dense. Teen issues are also highly concentrated and not addressed as sternly. If you or your child has an issue with a particular teacher's teaching style, you are stuck--there isn't another teacher or class to transfer to. Bottom line: I made the financial investment all these years because I assumed teachers at a private Christian school will create a safe environment for my children and give them extra help if they needed it. A private school "must" be better than the public school down the street, right? Not necessarily. I did not pay thousands of dollars to have my children bullied or made to feel ignorant. Children will be children whether at a public or private school. Select MCS for your child knowing that the school isn't perfect and is similar to a "good" public school (but the overall quality of your child's experience here is highly dependent upon the teacher and student body). Every school will have its fair share of issues. No school is perfect. MCS is no exception. read more

I can't believe this school. They give kids detentions for being 1 second late for a class. I heard that people have gotten a 30-minute detention because they wore a jacket in the classroom. I can't believe that! They teachers are all too strict. Only 5% of the teachers are cool. It is like prison. Please give more grace to the students because wearing a jacket in the classroom is not a sin. They should forgive like Jesus forgave them. They should act like Christians that can actually forgive. Only enroll in this school if you like detentions and people who have no knowledge in teaching. Is the price worth it? If this is your question, the answer is no. They are thieves that have stolen money from my family. We did not have time to do parent volunteer work. They charged us $400 dollars because we didn't do enough parent volunteer work. When I think of $400 dollars, I think of a bottle of Creed Aventus. Please stop stealing money from us. My family and I have many things to do on the weekends. Everyone at home is working non-stop. My son has been going to Milpitas Christian School since kindergarten and he is on 3rd grade now This is one of the best decision we have made. This school has been such a blessing to us. My son always looking forward to go to school everyday. The heart of the leaders and teachers at this school is amazing. Everything they do, they do it unto the Lord in excellence. They love their students beyond academic. Can't speak enough good things on how this school operate during Covid. They opened up school in Oct 2020 while most of schools are still closed. They did it with amazing diligence and able to operate like no pandemic. Teachers did a great job during those difficult season to keep the school going with both virtual and in person attendance. I am so happy this is a better season now when hopefully pandemic is going away soon. This school has been put in a pandemic test and they did amazing job in taking care of the children providing a great balance of academic, safety for children, and continue helping our kids to grow well rounded. Although my 6 years old son passed the entrance exam, but they said my son would not be "a good fit" there, since he needs a lot of redirections from the teacher during the test. Apparently they prefer kids who listen well over kids who do not listen well. Sadly, as a Christian school, the teachers still hold bias towards kids. read more

Full disclosure alert: I work here, but I also send my son to school here. He's going into first grade, and I have been so excited, since he was born, to have him go here (not just because I am an employee). I have to say that Milpitas Christian School offers the best value for its price. Natasha N. (a former student of mine) said the school is expensive. Tuition for three kids at one time surely must have been. But compared to other private schools in the area, you get more for your money at MCS, and it's much less expensive than the other comprehensive private schools around. I have yet to meet anyone (and I meet parents and teachers from all over California and elsewhere) who has ever heard of a school with an outdoor education program like MCS has. The fourth grade trip is an overnight, but 5th-8th go for 4 days and 3 nights per year (sometimes longer, depending on the calendar). They go to Columbia (4th), Sebastopol (5th), Marin Headlands (6th), Boulder Creek (7th), and Coloma (8th). The students bond with each other and with their teachers so much during these experiences. I look forward to my son attending these trips. The 8th Grade DC trip, which I got to go on in in 2008, is the perfect culmination of a fantastic educational experience. One thing I have noticed at MCS is that students who are new to the school fit in really well fairly quickly. The kids are great, like a family, and they accept with open arms almost everyone with little coaching. By the end of a school year, it's hard to tell who started just that year and who has been there since preschool. Finally, the technology education is streets ahead of what most schools offer. Students attend computers class once a week in grades 1 through 5, and twice a week in middle school. They begin using Microsoft Office applications right away in first grade. They build on their skills more each year, get their own e-mail account (filtered) beginning in third grade, and use more "cloud apps" like Google Docs as they progress through their years at MCS. In middle school, they get to make movies and create photography projects. They create new content for Google Earth starting in fourth grade. I am VERY excited to have my son begin attending computer class this coming year. There are also many after-school opportunities available at extra cost. The instrumental music program is excellent. My son has attended MCS since Kindergarten and he will be a 3rd grader after this summer. He LOVES this school. The school offers a good AR program to motivate students read. It also provides fun project such as building family tree, sandy beach poster and beach field trip to encourage student acquire knowledge and have fun at the same time. The school on site day care program closes until 6:30pm which give busy parents great benefit. My son enjoy playing in day care so much that I have to drag him out of there when picking him up. It is Christian school, so the students are required to recite Bible verse every week. It is a great way to build kids' character which I as parents really appreciate. This place contains my childhood Ive attended this private school from TK up to eight grade year. Going to a small place like this, ive grow up with the same people, and developed a lifelong friendship with most of them. all of share childhood memories and funny experiences. Im in the graduating class of 2007, which is 37 people! you get an outdoor ED ( i think they call it science camp?)each year starting from 4th grade. overnighters in the forest. Each progressing year the days get longer and more intense. ( 4th grade is one night, eighth is 7 nights.) For the eighth grade trip we went backpacking for a week. in a group of ten. Everyday we hiked about 2 miles in uphill terrain. one day was solely dedicated upon a hike up a ridge and repelling of the face of the cliff. We took shifts cooking, cleaning, iodizing water and on the last day, the leaders gave us a map and told us to find the way back to basecamp some 5 miles away. the nights were cold and we had no showers all week. we also had a choice of taking a plunge in the lake which consisted of melted snow. freezing! but, it wiped off the grime and dust from hiking. at the end of the day, we gathered around the fire we lit ourselves and had reflections. we talked about God and our relationship with him. then we fell exhaustively into our sleeping bags and slept under the stars. one the last day, everyone was separated and sent off to different parts of the woods. the best trip though, was the Washington DC trip. Everyone goes on a plane and heads off to the East coast. It was a shock, because we werent used to the frigid weather, being Californians. we hit Washington DC, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, New york. and the states in between cause we took a charter bus. stayed in nice hotels with two friends you choose. I had a room with no chaperons and it was hella fun. and everyone toured the national mall and lots of memorials and museums. Smithsonian, Holocaust, Iwo Jima, Vietnam, White house, Pentagon, statue of liberty. Broadway was spectacular! paid 65 to see ' Wicked' in the Gershwin Theater. Most of these places i would not have been to if not for this trip. my, entire class went and we had a simply marvelous time. this isnt even going to the everyday happenings on campus. teachers are phenomenal and you get to know each one of them personally. classes split our class in two. homerooms divide us into three. the middle school section is relatively small, we had cubbies instead of lockers. and you hang up your backpacks and carry a binder around instead. We ate in the cafeteria for our elementary years and outside for middle. each Tuesday we have Chapel.There were load of field trips, assemblies and who can forget, Ocean WEEK! Its amazing how close everyone is. its like having a big family. MCS shaped me into what i am today. To always try my hardest, push for the best, and instilled in me a sense of morals. thanks. there is a uniform system here. pleated skirt or pants. in Navy or Khaki, and you have to wear a belt with it. ( its rumored there was a "pantsing" epidemic. All the teachers insist the rule is enforced so that the school looks "nicer") polo shirts in maroon, navy, white, ( used to have green and it was my favorite :c) school logo sweaters in navy, maroon. the embroidery is gold. navy cardigans. maroon and gold sweatvests. elementary kids can wear plaid jumpers and skirts. socks must be white or navy, or not showing if their colored. shoes are all black or white. so, you can understand my enthusiasm when i came to a public high school. i haven't ever worn a polo shirt after. alas there is no : Gym, Pe uniforms, tuition was expensive, parents sent all three of us. read more

I attended MCS from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I'm now entering UCLA as a freshman. I could write about my experiences here for hours, but I'll just sum up its good points: - Great teachers - as committed and passionate as they get, at least for the primary class teachers. Can't say the same about the computer lab lady, haha, but that was years ago. - Small class sizes = family-like student body. Also means that the kids get more attention than they can ever hope for at a public school. - Field trips, a whole lot of em. - Everyone comes from good backgrounds. Tuition was pretty high, but the kids were well off. Combine that with a good-moral Christian upbringing and woolawalywoop you've got a bundle of success (most of the time). But I do have some minor complaints: - Microwaved-pizza Mondays, microwaved-burger Tuesdays, microwaved-hot dog Wednesdays, deep-frie... hnnnnngghh heartattack.
