Found this place online cause I needed to get an affidavit with an I-9 notarized for an employer. The notary also needed to be an immigration consultant. From what I've found, these are hard to find. I got a call from them to let me know that my soon to be ex-wife has filed the divorce with The Document People and wanted me to come pick up the papers. So, not knowing she was filing like this, I went to go pick up the papers. Jennifer was the one I was to see whom went over everything with me and wanted me to sign to process the papers. I told her I will go over this because I didn't agree with this. She told me this is what my wife said that she and I agreed on. I had major communication issues with The Document People and Jennifer. I couldn't get a hold of Jennifer for most of the process and she wouldn't return my phone calls or emails. I found out The Document People were not allowed to give advice but only to walk us through the paperwork. Jennifer couldn't even do the paperwork right. Multiple times after me and my wife would tell her what we wanted on the paperwork, Jennifer would give my wife "advice" that worked in my wife's favor over mine which their not supposed to do. Months later... yes, months later, with the lack of commination and not only not allowed advice but poor advice, it was time for my wife and I to officially sign. I was told I can only come in on Saturdays to sign. Jennifer had more than enough time (a week) to complete the paperwork for us to sign. The Friday before I called in the afternoon to say me and my wife would be coming to sign. She told me to come after 12pm because she is really busy and still hasn't had time to draw the revised paper work. I got there at noon knowing I was "early". I waited for over an hour and finally met with Jennifer. She still didn't have anything typed up and said she was waiting for me to give her a list of my "debts" to add to the paper work. I gave her this over a week before (with my wife's) through email when my wife and I decided to list all our debts on the paperwork. After waiting, Jennifer finally came out and knowing how The Document People work and Jennifer, I had to write down everything that was said. I had to do this for months because this company and Jennifer were a wreck and changed stories so many times. We went over everything, I paid for the Notary services, had her give me another signed copy of paperwork because she didn't do that right. (Signature pages where missing). After all was done, I asked her what next. She then told me, "After you wife signs later today, our courier will take it to the court house Monday morning. It could take anywhere where from 8-12 weeks for the divorce to be official. At that time we get signed copies of the divorce degree. One for you and your wife. I will call when I get this." Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. It was coming on 12 weeks since my wife and I signed. Since Jennifer said it could take 8-12 weeks, I thought I would wait 12 weeks to call Jennifer. Why would she tell me the truth at the time of signing when she and The Document People couldn't keep their heads straight during this process? I had a friend call me and said "why didn't you tell me your officially divorce?" I didn't know what he was talking about until he said he heard my ex-wife got remarried. I emailed Jennifer to see status on my divorce. A week went by before she responded. She said it was completed and she has the paper work and she scanned me a copy. IT WAS FINAL A WEEK LATER AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. She told me she provided a copy to their "customer" (my ex-wife) and all they could scan me was a copy that they have. I was furious. I was also a paying customer and regardless, I was told I would be notified and why wouldn't I? Doesn't really surprise me. This company and Jennifer show poor business skills. I told her to not scan me a copy but mail be a copy. She told me if would be the same as what she scanned to me. I wanted her to mail it for proof that I was notified at that time. (Post mark and return address from The Document People". Well, I got the envelope and the Divorce Decree I got, was an original NOT a copy!!!! Stay Away from these place. Not professional and shouldn't be giving advice and pointing toward one or the other to paying customers for something as a divorce. If there was one thing my ex-wife and I agreed on, it was that we should have went somewhere else. Not sure why my ex would say that when she got the advice she shouldn't have got from Jennifer at The Document People. read more
