Horrible is all I can say,my cat came home with chemical burns/ Cut her fur to the skin where she is oozing out. I took her Back to show these inhuman no caring money hungry people what they did to my cat. They said my cat did that to herself from licking... We got our puppy Schnauzer Yorker mix little over 2 months ago. She had skin problem and her coat was not in the best condition. When the coat started to grow back, we let it grow long so she can have a good haircut. I wish I'd read the reviews on google and not just yelp. The told me to drop my dog off between 7-1030 and when I got there at 8 with my husky they said he'd be ready between 2-3. They call and 12 to say he's got some mats and they were going to try to cut them out. I told them that's fine but don't shave him and I'd rather them leave them than work too much and hurt him. 340 rolls around and no word so I call back. They tell me half an hour. 445 and no word so I just show up. They told me 40-50$ and I ended up paying $70. I got home and my dog has a bloody spot and burns on his flanks and belly like they used a hot razor or dull blade. I called and was told to call back tomorrow to speak to the owner. 9 hours there. I'm not happy and I won't be going back. Please don't take your dogs here. read more

The prices here reflect the quality of the cut. My dog was horribly shaking and terrified to come here. I have a shihtsu and have brought him here twice, but after the second time I would not take him because they cut him in multiple places and burnt him with what I'm assuming was overheated clippers. My dog is gentle, loves baths, and loves going places. He was terrified to even be in this building. It's so sketchy- no windows, and all the kennels are hidden. The owner is nice but I don't know why you'd go into a business with animals and abuse them behind closed doors. I have experienced this and many of my associates. read more

In my experience, people who work with animals are not very good with people. That being said, this place's customer service is not totally sub par, but it could be better, especially in the morning when you drop off. (no appointment necessary, just drop off between 7:30 am and 10am) What is important is that they gave my sweet 9 pound dog a great groom even though her fur was a mess. I dropped off on a Friday at 8:15 and she was ready 2 hours later. They called as soon as she was ready and upon return. The service upon pick up was amazing. Saul was very friendly and even though he was busy with many dogs being picked up, he was very pleasant. This place's prices are AMAZING!!!! I've paid over $100 for a grooming before that wasn't near as good as this one at on $25.... Remember, for $25, you are not getting a fancy location. It is no frills and a little warm. There is a lot of noise, barking, dog's whining, growling, and people busy at work and chatter. I will be back every 3 weeks for certain. read more

I was a new resident to CC and was looking for a good priced groomer for my Yorkie. It's true, you get what you pay for! Poor baby was always so nervous and whimpering when we would take him. & started noticing razor burns underneath (stomach/chest area). Especially near his legs. Never again will we go here because today we went to a new groomer and he came home in great condition and so happy. I love this place! I never have to make an appointment. I just drop off my two yorkies early in the morning before 10 and I usually get a call before noon. I've taken my dog here a few times, and I liked it for the most part. After today, I was very disappointed in the way the man treated my dog. He tried throwing the leash over her head, instead of talking to her and having patience. So her not being used to that she snapped at him. "Not trying to bite, just trying to scare him". I dropped her off to get dipped for fleas and she came back basically the same way I left her. And When I picked her up she was acting very aggressive, not wanting to be touched. Makes me feel like they were abusing her. Very disappointed in today's service. If you work in a place like this you should definitely have patience! read more

I am a repeat customer. I have read some of the reviews. There are a few staff that speak with an acent. My dog happily goes in. The owner had his church pray for my husband when he was in the hospital. They are lower priced and in my opinion have done a better job with my dog then other places. Pissed off "Loyal Customer ": I've always loved this place and even though they were unprofessional, I liked their work. But I will never step foot in this horrible place again because today the owner yelled at me (in front of my 9 year old daughter) as if I did something wrong! His female employee answered the phone when I called and told me "Bring my dog in, no problem" and I guess they were full. I get there and the owner starts arguing with the employee, tells me "can't take you" and goes back to ignoring me. I told him his customer service was awful and he rolled his eyes and went back to paper work! NOT TO MENTION THEY HAVE TRYED GIVING ME THE WRONG DOG TWICE AND I STILL STAYED A LOYAL CUSTOMER! Very cheap grooming compared to some of the other places. Two of my dogs (small breed- 8 lbs each) cost only $30 to groom both head to paw. The only down fall is they came back with a couple fleas, not a big deal I understand its hard to control something like that. It was just a little inconvenience to have to give them another flea pill. If you take your dog to get groomed here just make sure you give your dogs flea medication after. read more

MY YORKIE IS BOTCHED. I took my little yorkie in for a haircut at The Dog House Grooming on Alameda for the FIRST and LAST time. The gentleman at the front was very nice, cheerful and welcoming. I told him I would like my yorkie to have a teddy bear face haircut and said that the groomers are very aware of a teddy bear face. I also asked for the groomer to cut her hair but still have her little skirt and as well as her flag tail. THE GROOMER did a horrible job. My yorkie did not have a teddy bear face. It was slightly trimmed and still long (like when I dropped her off) Her leg hair is uneven, her whole back area is uneven and you can see the scissor markings where it is uneven. SHE BASICALLY CAME BACK STILL LOOKING THE SAME AS WHEN I DROPPED HER OFF. They said a nail trim comes with the package, but her nails were not even touched. HER FACE HAS A MARK BETWEEN HER EYES WHERE THEY CUT HER. PLUS. IT ONLY TOOK AN HOUR. In experience with dealing with animals and grooming shops, it should never take just ONE HOUR. (Dropped her off at 7:30AM and picked her up and 8:40AM) First and last time at The Dog House Grooming!! I took my dog in today mary at the desk was so nice she took teak he doesnt go to people he doesnt know but he never put up a fuss with Mary. Warning!! Please do not take your dog here for grooming! Took my dog for grooming because of the competitive pricing but ended up taking my dog to the vet for a razor burn infection due the groomers. The infection required two shots and oral medication and a hefty price tag to go with it. I do believe that they overbook dogs on Saturday for grooming as well. read more

I was hoping for assistance from someone out there. Our puppy which we adopted one month ago is definitely not our puppy. We took her to The Dog House groomers 10 days after adopting her. When we picked her up she of course looked pretty different. The groomers assured me she was my puppy. Well, we immediately noticed her behavior was odd as if it was her first time here. She was frightened of all of us and was constantly hiding. See our pup was so energetic and a biter. This pup completely different lays around all day ran away from our other dog which was strange she would jump all over her before. We convinced ourselves she was just traumatized from groomers and she would come around. Two weeks later she's opened up a bit but still so different. We realized this dog looks pregnant. Our pup just turned 4 months old. Her appointment with the vet is finally coming up this Monday. I love taking my dog here for his baths and de shedding treatments. He's a cuddly 70 pound husky/malamute mix with long fur which can take a lot of effort to manage. The dog house is always ready to take him in any day and does a great job in under 3 hours. My dog always leaves looking like a cloud and smelling amazing. Although the de shedding treatment given here doesn't last my dog as long as other places do, they charge me significantly less than where I used to take him, and I mean they charge me a third of what I used to pay. It's time to retire when you tell the owner that their 17yr old partially blind poodle that has been going there for years, "was too much trouble" because she"wouldn't cooperate" and won't be grooming her again. Unfortunately you pay for the services before you see your dog. I paid for nail polish and bows. She didn't get either. The owner said you're lucky we bathed her! That was sooo rude! Hmmmm, I guess only "cooperative" doggies are allowed to get groomed in your world. I have 3 bichon frise's and 2 Yorkshire Terrier's. I have taken my dogs here for about 6 years and only had 1 issue last year so I decided to still use them because they had a new groomer at the time and she was the one who messed their haircuts up and they let her go do I decided to continue using the dog house. Yesterday I took 2 of my bichon frise dogs to the dog house to get groomed. My dogs had very long hair but when I went to pick my babies up they were both shaved down to nothing and I couldn't even recognize them. At first I thought I had the wrong dogs but when I called their names they reacted the way they normally do so I knew these dogs were mine. The dog house butchered my dogs from head to toe, even shaved off their tails. If you want a good groomer u suggest you go somewhere else. The people at the dog house know how my dogs get their hair cut, they have done them for quite a few years. I even heard one of my other friends say they cut off her dogs ear then super glued it back together. Please look around before you make the same mistake I have.
