Wonderful!! We brought our two younger dogs here to board for 11 days. Both of them have some issues and The Dog House was recommended to us. When we checked the dogs in, the staff was super kind and attention. We paid for extra play time which I have no doubt my dogs got. My one dog didn't even want to leave! Best of all, my dog who is kind of reactive came back not very reactive to people and other dogs. The Dog House was also great about giving updates when we called to check in. I found this place nearly 30 years ago and loved every aspect of their offerings. At different Points in time I have used their grooming and boarding services. Every new dog was brought to Dog House for training. In 2020 I adopted a rescue pup, and as usual, brought him to the Dog House for basic training. It pains me to say it was horrible. Although I was not told the head trainer was recently let go and instead of hiring a new lead trainer OR having the owner take over classes, students were leading both group and private training. There was one student who was good, but at one point he left to move home and start his own training business. That left one trainer who was not fully equipped to handle the full range of challenges before her. He suffered from severe anxiety, so training was a bit more challenging. When I would ask for advice on alternative ideas to help him understand I would be told she didn't know, that my dog was "difficult", He was "difficult" because he was not food motivated so treats as positive reinforcement didnt work. If he ate a treat he would just throw it up due to his anxiety. Eventually I just stopped going to my prepaid classes, what was the point. Bottom line, the person in charge was new and did not have any experience beyond what was taught in class. She was not equipped to handle anything beyond "text book" cases. I don't blame her, she JUST graduated, however the Dog House should have hired someone with experience to lead classes OR notified customers that we were paying full price for 100% student led classes. We contacted The Dog House, based on recommendations, to help us with our new 8 month old German Shorthaired Pointer pup, Darby, because her puppy brain, unbridled energy and unfocused temperament was a definite problem in our home. In addition, her separation anxiety was off the charts, and we'd never before experienced this with the dogs that preceded her. After the initial consultation, which was eye-opening and informative, we signed Darby up for a 4-week in house boarding/training program. It was and is still worth every penny! She returned to us a more focused, obedient, much less anxious pup who continues to learn her boundaries (she's a puppy, after all) but is happy, healthy and thriving at home instead of upending it! We have boarded her twice since her "graduation" and will continue to do so in the future because she gets so much attention, activity, and training while there. The office staff, the owner and the trainers are all first rate, honed in on the particular breed presented, very loving but skilled and firm in getting the pooch to understand boundaries so their life and their owner's lives are happy and healthy. I went thru training here with my German Shepherd, but have never used the kennel, so this review is limited to those services. The standard classes here are interestingly structured. Your in one of six levels and you are in them only as long as you need to be, at the end of each class, you have the chance to test out and onto the next level. the great thing about this is that you can miss classes or not go every week and remain in the level you need to be in. the only difference is that the "group" your in is constantly changing. You pay a flat fee for the entire class and you're in as long as you need to be. I liked the trainers and the program seemed well thought out. My dog and I made it thru level 5 but never got to 6, but thats more to do with me than her. There were dogs of all breeds and ages, as well as owners from all ages and interest levels, I and my dog got a lot out of it. read more

Just picked up my baby girl Ariel. She stayed there for training while we were on vacation. We are excited and surprise to see how much she learned. We are so HAPPY we took her there. Her trainer was patient and wonderful with Ariel!! Everyone loves our baby and they know her even by name! They told us how sweet and how beautiful she is. So happy we took her to The Dog House. My friend Norma recommended. Her dog who I dog sit for is perfect so I want Ariel to be perfect too it's the best decision we made for Ariel. Our baby Ariel is 7 years old gold lab mix with shepherd. 56lbs. I was worry she might be too old to learn but the trainers said It is not too old at all. We will be taking her to the weekly Saturday classes to learn more and keep with our training because we need to learn too. She was well take care of. They let me bring her furry girlie bed lol and her squirrel favorite toy too. Ariel loves it! I can totally recommend this place to everyone! Great decision and money well spent. read more

Even though we only came in twice a year or so, the lady at the desk - Nancy, I think - always remembered my dogs and was very friendly. A few things that make me like this place better than a few others I've tried in the area: - they don't charge you extra if you dropped off in the morning on the first day of boarding, but want to pick up in the afternoon on the last day. - food is included and they even have lamb and rice. - while it doesn't include playtime, adding it is only $4 per 30-minute session. - they're always very nice and check in/out is a breeze. - they'd tell me stories about how my dogs did while they were there, giving me the feeling they really enjoyed their presence. read more

I've been bringing my dog, Seamus, here for about a year or so. Before my other dog, Bree, passed away, she came here too. I love that they have inside-outside runs so that Seamus has room to run around, and I always pay the $3 a day for playtime. All I have to say is "Wanna go to the dog house?" and he's at the door ready to go, absolutely losing his mind. Blaze has been at the The Dog House Inc. for the last 48 days for boarding and training. I found out on Friday his trainer and ALL the trainers quit at once. When I came in on Friday for our session blaze was extremely stressed and was eating the bill jack like he didn't eat all day. I decided to end training and boarding today. They had NO LOGS of anything that he did while he was there. 48 days. As we went to leave, he shit and pissed as soon as went walked out. Went in and asked if he had been out this morning and they said no. imagine that! I will be getting my lawyer involved. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! This place needs to be shut down. This place has excellent training. Several years ago we adopted a dog named Rex from the APA. Rex was extremely wild, to the extent that we wouldn't have been able to keep Rex without the services of the Doghouse. We boarded Rex there for training, and when we picked him up he was a new dog! I am sincere when I say the Doghouse saved Rex's life. Rex had already been adopted once by a family and returned just a few days later. Without the training of the Doghouse we would have been forced to do the same thing. I highly recommend the Doghouse both for training and for boarding. They really love dogs, and it shows in everything they do! read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. They are so caring and definitely love animals! I brought my 15 year old dog, Tanner, here for the first time during the holiday, as my normal kennel was booked up. With my dog being so old he wasn't in the best shape and we weren't sure if the kennel would take him. They were more than willing to take him and kept an eye on him. They called us when he wouldn't move or drink water as well as not eat. They allowed us to pick Tanner up before office hours so that we could get him to the vet as soon as they opened. Not only is the business is run by caring individuals, their prices are also affordable. If I ever need to board my other dog I will definitely board her here. read more

I definitely give this place five stars. I always take my 3 (used to be 4) dogs for boarding here while I'm out of town. I own a chihauhua, shih tzu and Pug. There used to be two pugs, but unfortunately one crossed the rainbow bridge. My pug has medical issues too. She has to remain in the a/c due to her trachea and they are always so attentive to my little furbabies needs. Service is always too notch at the desk on check in and check out. I couldn't really ask for more. I even had a situation where one of my dogs was sick and they noticed it right away. They took my baby to the their vet because mine could not be reached. Afterwards they called me to let me know of the situation. Upon return I took the dog back to my vet and sure enough he needed surgery. Went for 2 week visit instruction for my dog they knew we were coming and he smelt like feces and was cover in it.He had lost weight and picked very bad habits . His bed was soaked in urine and feces ($100 bed)HAD TO THROW IT AWAY Immediately!I would never recommend this place to anyone.The head trainer was arrogant and rude. Let me start off by saying that the training was generally successful and good. We left our two pups there for two weeks while we traveled. Overall, the training would be a B+. However, when we went to pick up our pups and get our training, we learned that they had been calling them by the wrong names (switched their names) the whole two weeks. They told us that they didn't seem to know their names that well when they got there - that is because they used the wrong names. This is despite going over this in detail when we dropped each of them off AND, their collars they had on when we dropped them off had their names on them. I emailed them and heard back from the training staff. They apologized and offered some free training and said I would hear from the kennel manager. It has been almost three weeks and I have not heard a word. I emailed back to the training staff and told them I had not heard anything - and silence. I get that it gets busy and we make mistakes - but this is a pretty important detail to get correct. If this is your business and someone is trusting you with their two pets, you should ensure that you get it right. If you don't get is right - then you should acknowledge it and be in touch with your customer. On top of this, both came back with kennel cough. It was a bad experience. read more

The Doghouse has been amazing and we have been so pleased with many of their services from training to boarding to just feeling comfortable dropping off two of our dogs. We have big Bernedoodles and they are always so happy to go there especially when Chance is there to greet them. We drive quite a distance to board them, but it is so worth it and we wouldn't take them anywhere else! This place does not deserve one star. We picked up our dog after a week and he was suppose to have a bath- they handed him to my daughter with crap all over him. I mentioned it and the did give him a bath. The crap must have been there for a long time because they could not get him clean- he smelled so bad . Then the handed me his bed which the said "he just messed in a short time ago". WRONG our dog must have sat in front for the dull 9 days there at that kennel. The bed had to be thrown out. I personally would never recommend Thr Dog House training facility. My story is a long one but in short we took our dogs there for their in house 10 day training which cost us a little under $1000. Just a few days in they realized the dogs would need two additional weeks which we couldn't afford. I recommended them we pull them from the program and look at some other sort of training to which they told me to give it time. I trusted them as "professionals" and after two weeks when we picked our dogs up they were terrified with their tails tucked so far under them I couldn't see them. Our bigger dog had also lost weight 5 lbs. For the amount of money we spent their level of training was unacceptable. The Dog House took forever to respond to my concerns and actually blamed us for the dogs lack of training because we didn't go home with one of their expensive training collars even though on our own we bought them and used them. I feel they just wanted to get as much money as they could out of us. I felt they did not respect us, our dogs, or our money. Please do not make our mistake by trusting them with your pets. read more

Warning: do you not leave your dogs here. I've been taking my three dogs here for several years and always had a good experience. Two of my dogs were boarded for two night a week ago. First, they didn't have the reservation in the system when I got there and no one seemed to be in charge or know what was going on. When I picked them up two days later, I could hear the puppy crying and barking from outside. When I asked why, I was told that she had "escaped and had been separated from the other dog." After waiting a long time for my dogs they finally brought out the puppy and I was told again that she had been put in a kennel by herself. The woman handing who brought my puppy out called her by the wrong name. After more waiting, my three year old dog was brought out. Both dogs were very quiet and subdued which is not normal for either one. The three year old was missing two teeth and spent the next 24 hours growling and whining which is totally uncharacteristic as she's usually friendly and playful. She has never growled at me in three years until after her last stay at the Dog House. No one could tell me anything about how the puppy escaped, why the dogs were separated, or what happened to the three year old. I asked them to call me with a full explanation which never happened. When I called and asked to speak to the owner, they refused and gave me a "manager" named Jennifer who said the whole staff walked out the weekend my pups were there. She lied to me and said the dogs were never separated which her own staff contradicted. She hung up on me twice and there was no resolution or explanation. The most disturbing thing was that she never once asked how my dogs were doing. She was rude and confrontational. Check the dates of the previous reviews - before this happened I would have given them a high rating. Do not trust this current staff with your pets. read more

I recently took my dog to Dog House to help her with her problem...she's afraid of people. After her 2 week stay, they told me they could not help her when at the Orientation they said they could. She came home not only still afraid of people but now afraid of the car. I'd say we are back at square one but, I think we are further back than that.
