Just picked up my baby girl Ariel. She stayed there for training while we were on vacation. We are excited and surprise to see how much she learned. We are so HAPPY we took her there. Her trainer was patient and wonderful with Ariel!! Everyone loves our baby and they know her even by name! They told us how sweet and how beautiful she is. So happy we took her to The Dog House. My friend Norma recommended. Her dog who I dog sit for is perfect so I want Ariel to be perfect too it's the best decision we made for Ariel. Our baby Ariel is 7 years old gold lab mix with shepherd. 56lbs. I was worry she might be too old to learn but the trainers said It is not too old at all. We will be taking her to the weekly Saturday classes to learn more and keep with our training because we need to learn too. She was well take care of. They let me bring her furry girlie bed lol and her squirrel favorite toy too. Ariel loves it! I can totally recommend this place to everyone! Great decision and money well spent.

They love Dogs and my Brigi loves them! I am confident that she is happy while I'm out of town while she is in their care.

We drive quite a distance to board them, but it is so worth it and we wouldn't take them anywhere else!

    The Tom Rose School

    The Tom Rose School

    (9 reviews)

The Tom Rose School is a complete fraud. My partner and I moved across several states specifically…read morebecause the school advertised itself as a place to train directly with Tom Rose. However, when my partner, toured the school last spring, it had already been sold and placed under new ownership and instructors. This crucial detail was never disclosed--then or now. Tom Rose is rarely involved with the school, yet they continue to exploit his name and reputation to mislead prospective students. Meanwhile, tuition has been increased, courses shortened, and important parts of the curriculum removed. The misrepresentation doesn't end there. They advertised Tom as a head instructor however, Tom met the students for lunch the first week and came to the school once to do a demo, and the methods he demonstrated were vastly different from what is currently being taught. Students no longer have access to the Tom Rose Ranch--this class toured it once, and that was it. In the past, students were taught pet first aid and CPR, but this class didn't receive that training. I feel this school has grossly misrepresented itself to both students and the VA. The new owners lack the knowledge, experience, and competence to run a program like this. They advertise job placement and claim to teach business and marketing for dog trainers, but none of this is true. Graduates leave with no assistance finding work, and the business and marketing training is practically nonexistent. The training methods taught here are outdated, excessively harsh, and unethical. The school relies heavily on compulsion training, emphasizing "yank and crank" corrections with prong collars and e-collars. To prevent exposure of their aggressive practices, students are prohibited from recording during class. I've personally seen dogs broken down, with tails between their legs, and many of them are just puppies. Some dogs are malnourished and treated poorly, I've witnessed puppies being subjected to e-collar corrections set dangerously high and other aggressive means of corrections. Whether the dog is a pet, a future service animal for a veteran, or a potential working dog for law enforcement, they are all treated with the same harsh methods. This school is nothing more than a cash grab, riding on the coattails of Tom Rose's name and legacy. It has misrepresented itself to students, veterans, and the VA. If you're considering this school--especially as a veteran using VA benefits--don't waste your time, money, or effort. There are far better programs out there that are ethical, transparent, and genuinely dedicated to dog training.

Hayssum and Keirsten care deeply for the students, clients, and staff. They always put the dog's health and safety first. I was very impressed with how well they managed both the school and the boarding facility.

When I needed to find a new care giver I was concerned since she had been at the humane society twice, so I wanted the best environment I could find for her. Williamsburg was one place recommended to me. When I visited, I felt very good about the facility and people. The facility was very clean, well organized and staffed. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in the animals under their care. My dog certainly seemed to enjoy her stays (and for a time she was there more than she was at home). She came to know the staff and was always happy to see them. The staff knew her and always treated her so nicely. She was always happy to arrive and just as happy when I came home. While I no longer travel as much, Williamsburg remains the place I trust to take care of my dog. She always seems happy to see the staff and I've been very happy with the service I have received.

I took my Great Pyrenees in for a summer trim, but the outcome was not what I requested…read more Instead of a trim, her coat was shaved very short. The cut is uneven, particularly around her face, which appears choppy and not well blended. Her paws were also not cleaned up to the standard I expected. The areas of greatest concern are her armpit and belly, which were shaved extremely close. Her skin appeared irritated afterward, and there is a small area on her belly that looks consistent with a minor nick from the blade. I spoke with management to address these concerns and am currently requesting a refund based on the result and condition of the grooming. Overall, I am not satisfied with the service provided. If you have a long-haired or double-coated breed, I recommend clearly confirming grooming expectations in advance.
