For several years I traveled extensively for work (weekly and 3-4 days). Until his death, my father cared for my dog. When I needed to find a new care giver I was concerned since she had been at the humane society twice, so I wanted the best environment I could find for her. Williamsburg was one place recommended to me. When I visited, I felt very good about the facility and people. The facility was very clean, well organized and staffed. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in the animals under their care. My dog certainly seemed to enjoy her stays (and for a time she was there more than she was at home). She came to know the staff and was always happy to see them. The staff knew her and always treated her so nicely. She was always happy to arrive and just as happy when I came home. While I no longer travel as much, Williamsburg remains the place I trust to take care of my dog. She always seems happy to see the staff and I've been very happy with the service I have received. read more

I took my Great Pyrenees in for a summer trim, but the outcome was not what I requested. Instead of a trim, her coat was shaved very short. The cut is uneven, particularly around her face, which appears choppy and not well blended. Her paws were also not cleaned up to the standard I expected. The areas of greatest concern are her armpit and belly, which were shaved extremely close. Her skin appeared irritated afterward, and there is a small area on her belly that looks consistent with a minor nick from the blade. I spoke with management to address these concerns and am currently requesting a refund based on the result and condition of the grooming. Overall, I am not satisfied with the service provided. If you have a long-haired or double-coated breed, I recommend clearly confirming grooming expectations in advance. read more

Always a great day when Lola goes to day camp. She loves the boarding as well!!! I know she's being loved and taken care of.

First of all, there isn't a "swimming" pool, even though it's featured prominently on their webpage. I was told after choosing this daycare and driving the opposite way from my work so that my pup could enjoy pool time that the pool is permanently closed and being filled in (although there's a splash pad planned for next summer). Secondly, the live indoor video cameras (where all of the dogs were hanging out because of the heat) were not working--again, a main reason I chose this particular facility. The lobby looked nice, and the two employees whom I talked to when I dropped her off were friendly. Based on this experience, I will look for another "playcare" spot for my puppy. read more

We take our dog Freya there twice a week and she loves it. They have an outdoor area that is awesome for her as she has a lot of energy and it is a great place for her to run and play. we have been using Williamsburg for at least 10 years for Day Care, Boarding, and some training and grooming. Initially they took care of our Wheaten Terrier Rowan who is now 11 years old. We now have a second Wheaten Bunny who is 2 years old. Currently we are using the day care service for our puppy Bunny. It has been instrumental at providing a safe and healthy place for her to expend her puppy energy. In addition, her senior brother Rowan is very grateful that she is exhausted in the evening and not constantly trying to engage him in unending play. Michelle has been employed at Williamsburg since we have been going there and she is a superb animal caregiver. Even though Rowan no longer goes to daycare she always asks about him and we have even brought him by to visit her. I've been taking both pups here for a couple of years now. I do boarding, grooming and day play. The staff is friendly, nice and attentive. The facility is very well maintained and clean. It doesn't feel like a kennel and I don't feel guilty leaving my pets for extended stays. There are cameras in the play yards so you can check-in on your pet. They call right away if there is any unusual behavior (one dog was mounting) and take care of your pet accordingly. The dogs are exhausted when I pick them up. If you are boarding for more than a couple of days, the exit bath add on is a must (they play hard and STINK). read more

I went there 1 time for grooming for my golden doodle. She came out a different sad dog with tail between her legs. Obviously they hurt her. I brought Bella to the emergency vet later that evening. I was told her back was injured and she was put on major pain medication. I contacted Williamsburg many times and they only offered to pay half the vet bill. Don't take your cat here for grooming!!! Last Sunday we took Cricket, our 12 year old beautiful Maine Coon cat, in to WPH to be groomed. I spoke with Bonnie, the groomer, and told her that we wanted the same service that had been provided on our previous visit, last September, which was the standard bath, brush out, nail clipping and also a cut targeting those areas where her long hair had become shaggy, like on her elbows and around her bottom. When I returned several hours later, the staff person who brought her out was cradling my naked, shivering, wide eyed cat, who looked like she had just escaped from a concentration camp! I was shocked and angry. I had not requested, we had not discussed, NOR HAD I GIVEN MY PERMISSION FOR THEM TO COMPLETELY SHAVE OFF HER ENTIRE BEAUTIFUL COAT!! I expressed my horror to the desk staff who PROMISED A CALL FROM THE OWNER - which 5 days later I have not received!!! It's not just the aesthetics! Many experts recommend against shaving cats - it can be very stressful for them and can pose some potential health risks. Their coats are meant to assist with regulating their temperatures and protecting their skin. If shaving cats, it is cautioned to leave at least 1" hair (my cat was shaved to about 1/8th"). read more

We have brought our dog here for day camp and boarding. We don't have any proof that he actually gets out to socialize with other dogs. We have never seen any photos of him playing. When we drive by, he is not outside with the other dogs. We typically ask if he was too aggressive and couldn't be around the other dogs and we are always told the same thing, that he had a great day. We boarded him once in a very expensive room with web cam access and it was so depressing that we haven't boarded him since. He looks miserable and is basically on a cement floor with a drain (we assume if he pees in there). We really want to like this place because of the services and location but we think our dog is probably just in a kennel the whole time. read more

I put my dog in their boarding for 3 nights and she came back super happy! I was concerned about some of these reviews on yelp, but their customer service and my dog coming back super happy was a great relief! I gave this 4 stars, i got the stay and play package, where they stay in the gated outdoor area all day (10am-5pm) and stay in their 4x6 room the rest of the time until someone comes later that night to let them go out to the bathroom. I guess its fine that they stay in their area since they have food, water, and the toys and bedding that you provide, but it would be nice to know that she isn't alone all night and that someone is at least in the building. other than that I think she had a great time and ate and drank well! read more

We take our dog to Williamsburg for training, grooming, doggie day camp, and boarding. I cannot say enough amazing things about the staff and team at Williamsburg! They know our dog so well and take extra care of her. We have no worries about boarding her because we know she will get the best care, and get just as much love there as she would at home! Training has been a game changer. We left her for the two week puppy training and now take her fit refresher classes when needed. The staff has done a great job training her and communicating skills with us. I have also taken her one other place for day camp and when I picked her up she stunk of urine. We have always taken our dog to Williamsburg, and he seems to like it. We picked him up yesterday and think things have gone a little downhill since his visit a year ago. They now enter in the main door so doggie daycare is at the old entrance. Our dog takes 22 pills a day for thyroid and seizures, and it is important to get his medicine on time. I typed up a list of medications and times, but the front desk barely looked at it. Frankly, the front desk used to be friendlier. When we picked him up, they forgot to return the food. I went back and got the refrigerated food, but realized when I got home that they did not return the Pupperoni. It was a half bag, so that's about $5 of product. They numbered everything thing, so they should have realized that I didn't have everything. I asked if he got his afternoon medicine, and they said yes. But his pill indicator had four pills in it instead of two, so I don't think so. We may have to rethink taking him back there. read more
