Pet lovers beware! I read most of the reviews and was sold on where to bring our wonderful adopted Lhasa Apso , the love of our life . All sounds great until something very BAD happens that THEY were responsible for and the owner could care less . Colby left his grooming with a star sharp pointed sticker on his forehead and by the time I could get it off in the car it fell into his eye! Who puts a sharp edged sticker on the fur of a young dog just above his eyes ?! They did and it fell right into his left eye scratching over an inch of his cornea so deeply, he will permanently have a scar. He was in so much pain, I brought him to the Vet the next day and he had to go on an antibiotic and a lubricant in his eye to sooth and heal his aching eye twice a day for a week . He didn't eat or drink the whole week ( several days in he would let me hand feed him a little ) . He was so depressed when we took him home in that awful cone he needed , it literally broke our hearts . He thought he was being punished and didn't understand what was happening . It was the worst week of all of our lives. . I called the Dog Wash the night it happened as well as the next day and they said he left there ok and it wasn't their problem ! The owner pretty much said the same thing when we went in there with a $400 bill they caused , never mind even caring about our poor dog ( not even asking how he was doing a week later ) with all the pain and depression he suffered solely because of what THEY did to our baby . If you care about your dog, you should NOT go to this place who puts on a show and at the end of the day they could care less about your baby . Absolutely Shameful ! read more

I cannot give enough stars in my review about our experience with Lauren at The Dog Wash. After seven years with the same groomer we had to look for someone new. My seven year old dog is very anxious and does not like grooming normally. The first groomer at a different location told me that I would have to medicate and muzzle my dog before she would try her again, since the at her first attempt my dog tried to nip her. After a few phone calls to several other groomers who came up when I googled "anxious dogs groomers", I found Lauren. Lauren wanted to try to groom my dog without sedation first to see if she could work with her. Today, I brought her in and in two hours she was done, happy and she didn't have to do anything extra to get her groomed - no medication needed! She said she was wonderful and not a problem at all. She truly is the dog whisperer! My dog looks wonderful, was happy and playful when she was picked up and I am so pleased to have found my new groomer! BEWARE! It has taken all I have to write this because my family and I are heartbroken. We had to find a new groomer because the one we loved was closing. I made the horrible mistake trying this place. My just newly 5 year old healthy dog passed away from being there. My dog was dying there and I did not get a phone call, in fact when she was picked up thinking she wasn't finished yet, payment was asked for before even bringing attention to my dog in desperate need of medical attention. My dog passed away in our arms on the way to the vet where they tried reviving her without success. My dog could not breath when I came to get her. When I called The Dog Wash to say she passed, I had the groomer on the phone and she said she was panting through the grooming. The owner called back to say not true (shocking) and said I must not have told them something when brought in. She had been groomed since she was a puppy every 6-8 weeks faithfully, has always been to the vet for physicals and vaccinations, she was very healthy!!! The vet has ideas what happened and they took 0 responsibility in fact the owner was very cold about it. I didn't get a call and was asked for payment before telling me how my dog was. She said her tongue was turning purple and something wasn't right. So many feelings, obviously heartbroken and guilt for sending her there. Her last touch was there and it she was completely ignored, during and after. This is heart wreching for our family. I have thought about not writing this but I do believe this has to be said for those looking for a compassionate groomer. read more

I was surprised and a little put off that they refused to groom my dog due to his age. He's a rescue so we aren't sure of his exact age but we believe he's close to 15 years old. He is physically in pretty good shape, a beagle, severe hearing loss otherwise very easy going. *This review is based on my experience on the phone with the business, I have not used their services* Just called this place for an appt for my 15 lb dachshund terrier mix. The woman on the phone was fairly short with me and asked if I just wanted a bath. I said no a haircut or at least trim around the face and legs. She told me to hold on and put the phone down (not on hold) and then asked someone what a dachshund was. She came back and immediately said the earliest she could get us in was February (it's October). Can't imagine what qualified groomer doesn't know what a dachshund is, what a joke. Update: I appreciate that the owner of the business took the time to respond to me and just wanted to clarify if my review seems trivial. I don't doubt that the loyal customers who have left positive reviews have had excellent experiences. However, the owner might think it's 'sad' that I need to leave a review of my phone call, but as someone who loves their dog more than anything on the entire planet, my 30 second conversation left feeling very distrusting of this place. Maybe that's crazy, but first impressions are everything. It wasn't just not knowing what a dachshund was, it was the tone and the carelessness from the moment the phone was answered. Maybe the girl was having a bad day, i don't know. The proper response would be "I'm so sorry we're not taking new clients currently" like many of the other groomers I've called, since my dog and I are new to town. Or even, "it's a 3 month wait for new clients, is that ok?". The bottom line is the phone call I had was unprofessional and left me feeling like I wouldn't trust this place with my pet. My hope is no one else has the same experience I do. I have updated the first line of my review to note that I have not obtained any services here. I would also urge the owner not assume people think the pandemic is a joke. You never know how this has affected someone or who they have personally lost. This place is 5-star. I'm staying at my moms and I called to make an appointment and the only thing available was a week out. I signed my dog up and within minutes they'd called back with space available after a cancellation. Perfect! My Norwegian Elkhound came home with the best grooming he's ever had! I have only taken my dog here once so far. It's been a few months ago, and I will be taking her again soon. She came out looking beautiful, and smelling better than ever. The groomer was Lauren who was very helpful and knowledgeable about the breed. She spoke to Stormy with a calm and soothing voice, as Stormy is a bit on the nervous side. I just picked up my two dogs from their bath appointments here, and I'm so pleased I had to write a review immediately! We've lived in a lot of different places and have as a result been to a lot of different groomers over the years, and I can honestly say that my pups have never been so CLEAN! I'm not sure what the magic is that happened while they were at The Dog Wash, but not only are they squeaky clean, but there is absolutely zero shedding going on. Usually after they are bathed it seems like they shed MORE, as if the bath just loosed up all of the undercoat and they come home leaving a trail of fur in the car, in the stairwell etc. Not so when I picked them up from The Dog Wash. Both of my dogs are shed monsters, so this is not an insignificant thing! :) Also, they seemed relaxed when I picked them up, which was also a first. Generally a trip to the groomer's is stressful for them, but even though they were at The Dog Wash for most of the day, they seemed calm and mellow when I came to get them. Lauren, the owner, is nice, let them out for a potty break while they were in her care, and my dogs both seemed to like her. We will most definitely be back! read more

My dog is 3 1/2 and was a breeding bitch. Part of her contract required 4 litters over the past few years which in turn meant periods of confinement when whelping etc.... I had a groomer that I took her to that was professional and did a great job with general maintenance however, that is all it was, just keep her neat and clean so she could stay healthy through this time. Now we are done and I started looking for a real groomer. I stumbled across The Dog Wash on Wilson St. in Marlboro and it is the best discovery I have found yet! My girl had a wash, cut, blow dry, nails and ears, full spa treatment and she came home looking like a diva! She is so pleased with herself she is prancing and showing off her new doo! They were phenomenal there! Professional, involved, clean, patient... they really worked to make sure my girl and I were happy with the results! Very reasonable prices, professional, courteous, and friendly. Our dog is very nervous and everyone at the Dog Wash was very accepting of that and did their best to help him out. Even after he nearly broke their tools while they tried to dry him, they simply let him sit in a crate to dry and allowed us to bring him back the next day to finish the grooming after he had completely dried out. What an awful experience both in terms of the scalping that Lauren executed on my American Eskimo and her total arrogance in refusing to accept any blame as the business owner for what was clearly a misunderstanding to the point of lying about what was agreed to when I dropped the dog off, and then asserting that I needed education in how to communicate with a groomer. My dog is 4 years old and I have been taking him for full grooming some 12 to 15 times prior to this sad event and have NEVER had this kind of issue in the past, so I would conclude that the disparity is with this business rather than myself. My wife was in tears for most of last evening because our dog's classic look had been totally destroyed. I called Lauren who refused to apologize or accept any responsibility for the problem she had caused, stated "Oh well, what's done is done" and hung up the phone on me!!!! What a great attitude for a small business owner. Buyer beware, because if you are not satisfied with the service you get from this business it will be YOUR fault. The only upside to this sad tale of woe is that in calling around a few groomers, I happened upon our dog's first ever groomer from four years back who is an extremely pleasant young lady and knows how to groom American Eskimos properly. read more
