We're so glad to have found Casey/The Shaggy Dog. Our dog is a beast (75ish pounds and high energy) and has a serious fear of getting his nails clipped after having several of them break. It got so bad that we couldn't clip them at home and even the vet had trouble. Casey is awesome with him and gets them clipped super fast with no injuries for either of them. We also had her groom him just before Thanksgiving and our normally stinky pup was all clean smelling and shiny. Casey is very responsive via email and phone. I have had awful experiences with so many groomers in the past shaving down my beautiful 2 year old golden doodle Wally!! Casey and her team are absolutely amazing!! She truly spends her time working on his tangles and never takes more hair off than absolutely necessary. He comes home fluffy, smelling nice, and happy every time. Penny's appointment was scheduled for 1:45pm. I was not early. My golden usually costs between $80-90 and takes 3 hours to groom. I keep her in a puppy cut and I asked that the tail be cut. I told the groomer penny doesn't like hair dryers. I was told that this was a holistic business and the dogs feelings were taken into account and if Penny was showing signs of stress, I would be called to pick her up. At 3:51pm I received a call that she was ready to be pick up. That was fast. 2 hours. When I entered the waiting area, penny saw me, got excited and jumped up on the half wall as she wanted out of there. The owner did not see me and started yelling at Penny to get down. Once she saw me, her tone changed and she went into some BS about training. When I was told it was $115, I asked for an itemized receipt. The groomer seemed flustered so I left because I didn't feel like waiting for a hand written document. It is true that I said the haircut was ok, but once I got home I saw that her tail was not done, the trimming around her paws was suboptimal, the clipper marks were visual and it just wasn't even. We just moved to the area and needed to find a new groomer for our lab mix. Needless to say it will not be Shaggy Dog. I called to set up an appt, and they could see me that day which was great, what was not, was that I could hardly hear the person over all the noise at the location, and she could not hear me and was rude about asking me to repeat myself. The time for the appointment comes, and we walk in, wait about 10 minutes for someone to notice we are there - all the while it looks as though Shaggy dog is in a state of flux and disarray. They tell me the things we needed done (nail filing and teeth cleaning) would take about 10 minutes. So we walked around for 10 minutes and came back... the women rudely handed me my dog, told me how much it would be - I asked her to explain because based on their website it should have been $20 and they charged $25 - guess they have a "difficult" dog fee. They told me my dog was difficult and it took 2 people to file his nails. Needless to day his nails did not even look as though they had been done given how long they were when we brought them in. I asked, and got a rude - we did what we could... Seriously you did what you could and still charged me full price. This is the first time anyone has told us our docile and friendly lab was uncooperative at the groomer, and our dog was terrified. not sure what happened when we were not there. Save your money and go to a reputable and CLEAN, and FRIENDLY groomer. read more

We love The Shaggy Dog! We have a 1.5 year old golden doodle. Like most dog owners, we are very attached to our dog and want him to have the best experience when he is groomed. We are thrilled to have found Casey at The Shaggy Dog. She absolutely LOVES dogs, which is evident in the way she interacts with them. Our dog, Remy, always has a beautiful haircut and perfectly trimmed nails. Casey only takes one dog at a time. This allows her to devote all her attention to one dog rather than having several dogs waiting to be groomed. This also makes it much less stressful for the dog. Casey is extremely personable and really makes an effort to get to know your dog. When we show up for grooming, Remy runs in and is so happy to see Casey. I was at first very excited to have a grooming business close to home, and scheduled an appointment for my dog right after hearing about how great the Shaggy Dog was. I was given an appointment time, and even called to confirm the time a few days before the appointment. When I arrived, both employees were outright rude. They informed me that I had missed my appointment, and that they had no room. At that point they told me to leave the store, because there was no way my dog was getting groomed today. Like I said before, I was excited to get my dog groomed, and I know he feels better when he gets a haircut. I am sure that I did not confuse the appointment time, and even got there earlier than the time they have to me. Never again will I go to this rude, ignorant business. Sure you may see great reviews about this place, but read closer and see that it is for small services like clipping nails. Honestly anybody can clip nails if you google how to do it.
