Just off main street, you'll walk in to a beautiful room with walls of books surrounding you. But the first thing you'll see is the astounding art scattered around the walls. Truly lovely paintings (my favorites involved dogs) that made you feel like you were in a really elevated store. There were different book selections, though it wasn't too overwhelming that you had analysis paralysis in what to choose. THE STORY. We were chatting with the owner, who mentioned that she had written a book the previous year called Death is My Life. And she was describing her life who were really struck with everything that she had been through and bought ourselves a copy. Her significant other was in the back room doing the accounting and he was just as friendly. It was so lovely seeing these two people, and they really mentioned their appreciation that we stomped by not only to support a local bookstore, but to support a local bookstore in the off-season. We chatted a bit about what books were good, and ended up buying two that we'll read while here and on the plane ride back home. Do yourself a favor. Stroll through main Street, stop in this beautiful little bookstore, and buy a book to keep the spirit of this town going strong.

Couldn't have been farther from the truth.. I had dental surgery on the day he wrote down so he was wrong! After a brisk discussion he told "to Get the FUCK out of HIS STORE"! I went to YESTERDAYS TOYS in Bethany and they were delighted to get these vintage comics and gave me great price! Tom is a poor businessman and a very poor quality human being to say that to a lady!

The biggest selections are paperback collections/graphic novels and back issues. However, they had an ample supply of $1 comics and new issues along the walls. I really enjoyed showing my son how to flip through boxes of back issues to look for stuff. The downside was that there were more than a few comics with no marked prices (and took a lot of time to find the prices) and the staff, while friendly, didn't seem to know much about comics. I asked about some DC comics and characters and they simply didn't know the answers. I feel if you run a comic, you should have employees who can answer questions. Overall a really nice experience. Again, the staff was friendly and the back issue and graphic novel selection in particular was fantastic.

I've not been to a national chain bookstore for quite some time, so this was a change for me…read more Typically, I like to support the small guy Mom & Pop type of store, but when I walked into Barnes and Noble, I couldn't help seeing a vast variety of volumes, many of which I'd like to have taken home. I merely purchased one today, however. I do enjoy flipping the pages of a book and reading random passages, and with such a variety as this, I was in my glory! I must say that the staff was attentive and helpful. It is likely that the basic format of this chain is typical of the others.

The owner has always been friendly and welcoming, and I've enjoyed browsing and trading here in the past. On a recent visit, however, I ran into issues with how card condition was represented. I looked at a vintage single that had noticeable whitening, surface wear, and marks on the artwork, yet it was described and priced as if it were in significantly better condition. When I raised concerns about the card's state, I was given an explanation of grading standards, but the asking price remained far above what comparable damaged copies sell for. That left me feeling that condition labels and pricing were not being applied consistently. This is not about trying to negotiate a lower price. I'm comfortable paying fair market value for the right condition. My concern is that condition descriptions did not match the actual state of the cards. I also previously purchased a card labeled as moderately played that had a visible stain on it. I was able to clean it myself, but had I not known how to do that, I would have ended up with a damaged card at a higher-than-appropriate price. I still think the shop has a strong selection and is worth visiting, especially for sealed product and general browsing. I would just recommend that buyers carefully inspect singles before purchasing. I hope future visits return to the positive experiences I had before
