Great craft beers at reasonable prices. The interior is lovely and the food looked amazing. I've never been here and not managed to find a seat which is another huge benefit. My only reason for not giving a fourth star is that it seems somewhat understaffed - even when the place is half full you have to wait. read more

The latest of three Draft House pubs, the Tower Bridge addition has an impressive and thoughtfully chosen range of quality beer (draft, cask and bottle). On my recent visit I enjoyed a few different beers all suggested by my server or paired especially with my food. Liquid highlights included a draft pulled Meteor Seasonal (from a family-run brewery in France founded in 1640, apple toned without coming across as fruity), a bottle of well balanced Goose Island Honker Ale (an English Ale via Chicago) and the locally brewed cask ale, Sambrook's Wandle. Most beers are priced around £4 for a pint or bottle (but half and even third pint drafts are available). The food menu here is tastier and more inventive than at most pubs, though some work on presentation of dishes might be in order. Venison and hazelnut cabbage with pear was certainly delish, ample and seasonally agreeable but not the prettiest assemblage I'd ever seen on a plate. Beer battered East Coast haddock with minted peas, chips and tartar sauce looked and tasted as it should have and was particularly massive. Forgoing dessert, a chocolaty Westmalle Dubbel rounded the meal out nicely. read more

Really liked the atmosphere and wait staff here. It was an open place and felt welcoming. I wish I'd had a pint since it is a pub but I was there for lunch. Unfortunately, none of our lunches were particularly impressive. My veggie burger wasn't flavorful (not surprising but I keep hoping), my mom's burger was dry and my nephew's schnitzel was also dry (and came with no gravy... Weird.) The best bit of the meal was the batter on my onion rings. Lovely and crisp. I bet their fish and chips is spot on. Wish I'd gotten that! read more

We have visited a few times just for drinks and they have a great selection of craft beers by bottle or on tap, at fairly reasonable prices considering the location. Tonight we stopped in for a bite to eat, trying the rare breed cheeseburger and what a treat! The burger tasted fantastic and the fries were excellent too! Combine that with efficient and friendly service and prices not too dissimilar to Byron, this place is well worth a go. We will definitely be back! read more

We came here on a Wednesday after a full day of sightseeing. It happened to be two for one wings. We had wings, burgers, sweet potato fries and fried pickles. Everything was very good, and the food came out promptly. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely come here again for fast, casual food. read more

Really good quality food, extensive range of really interesting looking beers and welcoming and friendly. Only slight quibble is that the food is restaurant prices but with pub levels of service. I can't imagine what our £10 service charge was for as there wasn't really any service beyond polite ordering and having food placed on the table. We've visited the Draft House three times and had our entire order forgotten once, and only part of the meal delivered once. As it's delicious when it arrives, it's not the end of the world but just shouldn't happen. This is a very good pub which is very nearly an amazing pub, but not quite there yet. read more

Went here for lunch with some mates. Really good burgers. I had the Smoke Burger which has bacon, chipotle, and the usual tomato and lettuce. Friend had the Poke, which had two massive onion rings and some spicy chillies. Both were really good and the chips were great too! read more

The latest of the Draft House venues, and while I haven't been to either of the other two, I'm guessing the formula is the same. A great focus on beer with over 20 taps of local and international beers. The bottle range is also extensive with German and Belgian brews, as well as a solid range of US micros. I was happy to find the local Kernel beers in the fridge too. It is on the pricey side for beers but compared with other beer bars around the city it's all relative. I didn't try the food so can't comment on that but it does seem popular with the after work diners. To sum up it's worth a look if you're with friends and wanting something different beer wise than the many run of the mill pubs in the area. read more

And I was even more pleased when I read the review by Jay Rayner who really liked the food there. Now I finally made it to The Draft House and I have to disagree with good old Jay as I found the whole experience rather disappointing. The Draft House is part of a tiny chain (with 2 more pubs, one in Battersea and the other in Clapham) and, as the name promises, it specializes on beer. My beer drinking years are long gone, not because I don't like beer but because merely looking at it gives me the worst hangover. Maybe that's why the Draft House and I were off to a bad start? The menu is definitely appealing and there were a lot of things that I wanted to order. We settled for one of the 'Pots': Smoked Mackerel with Chutney & Sourdough (4.75). The mackerel pate was rather nice and so was the chutney. However, mackerel and chutney together were plainly wrong. My taste buds always expected meat pate and then there was fish. So they were confused and not convinced. Would have been much nicer with just some lemon or horseradish sauce. The bread was good though. As a second starter something healthy: the Honey Roast Parsnip, Broccoli, Cherry Tomatoes, Watercress & Pine Nuts (6.25) was clearly not the most spectacular of all dishes but very decent for a salad with a sweet balsamic honey dressing and lovely parsnips. It went downwards with the mains. The waiter told us that their restaurant is 'getting famous for their burgers'. After I sampled their Burger (+smoked cheddar) (9.90) I would doubt this statement. It was well-priced and a generous portion, no doubt about this, but tastewise it did not convince as the bun was dry and so was the meat. If you are in the area and looking for a nice burger, I recommend the King's Arms just around the corner. Up until this moment the food was, even though without major highlight, relatively decent. The Fish of the Day, Celeriac, Curly Kale (12.75) however was a disaster. The cod was overcooked, the curly kale extremely salty and everything was swimming in oil. To be fair, it said it came with Sauce Vierge which is an olive oil based sauce but nevertheless I am sure that this is not supposed to taste like this? I really wanted to like the Draft House. This modern gastro-pub has a rather pleasant atmosphere, the staff was lovely and I really could have seen myself hanging out there a lot. The star-rating for this is an aggregate - 4stars for the general bar experience and 2 stars for the meal i have just had there - and the 2 stars are being generous since i usually reserve the 1 star rating for instances where i've found live insects in my dish. Generally i do like this place, it's a good location (near where i live) it's got a good selection of beers, and a nice vibe. This was the first time i have eaten however. Perhaps stupidly i tried to opt for something healthy, so chose the vietnamese Salad with chicken (though i could barely find any chicken in there). This was one of the worst meals i have paid for in a long, long time. As i stipulated earlier, i paid a £2 premium for chicken. The chicken was shredded. Very shredded. So much so that the largest bit of chicken i managed to find after a lot of salad excavation was the approximate size of an anorexic house fly. The sum total of the chicken amounted to possibly less than 1 chicken wing. As for the rest of the salad, it wasnt so much a salad as it was a mountain of bean sprouts, with a few lumps of cucumber and some lettuce leaves. Not having some sort of bean-sprouts fetish i wasnt particularly impressed. In the end i left over half of it since the foraging for chicken was turning out to be a negative return - burning more calories than i was ultimately ingesting. That being said, one of party said his chicken burger was good, and the rest of them seemed to be happy with their choices...so perhaps it was just a chronic case of poor-ordering. read more

From the pictures on the website, I was expecing a more traditional gastropub. The restaurant is larger than you expect, and the atmosphere wasn't quite there for me. The Draft Cider was delicious, and the Fish & Chips were perfectly crispy. The food was good, and definitely a great spot within walking distance of Tower Bridge Hotels that is actually open on Sunday, unlike most of the other restaurants in the area. I would sit in the front room next time and probably try the Sunday Roast. read more

This place did not impress me at all,to start with the music volume is too loud when eating.The Burger I had was on the small side and very dry, could hardly eat it. My wife ordered a fillet steak which was over done instead of very rare.The chips were reasonably good.The only good thing was the beer which is a bit pricey.Service was friendly but average as the place was very empty for an early Saturday evening,and oh dont forget there is a 12% service charge automatically added to your bill at the end of u'r dining experience.Food wise, this place can't compete with other well known places. read more

So good, we came back a few days later. The food was really good. On Sunday we had their special pork roast, and we also liked their salads. They have one Asian-inspired and one Mediterranean-inspired salad that you can get with or without chicken, so it's suitable for vegans. The chicken is shredded, which I liked, but it loses points for being kind of dry. We also liked their scotch egg and their interesting beer selection. read more

Great bear near the Tower Bridge. Good layout, had nice bar stools near the open air entrance. Pints were around 3.50 pounds which is comparable to NYC prices. Good place to com with friends or even if you're sightseeing and just want to come in for a pint. I will definitely come back when I'm in London! read more

After visiting Tower Bridge I was wandering and hunting for a place to eat. When you don't know which restaurants to try and don't have access to reviews pick a place that has happy looking people inside and plenty of people. Having not been back to this Draft House since a few months after it's opening, the last review made me a a bit nervous about dragging the boys here for one of our monthly beer fests. Luckily I wasn't let down. The staff were twinkly and attentive, and seemed to know their stuff when it came to the beers, without straying into CAMRA-esque droning. 6 of us had various burgers and dogs with recommended beer matches. The highlights being the poke chilli cheese burger, which has since become a byword for measuring one's masculinity, paired with Texas Lone Star lager (bottle removed by one of the party for a fancy dress outfit), and the Kasekrainer hot dog stuffed with melted cheese (which has also become a byword) with Steigel served in very pleasing weighty glasses. Nice staff, great pics, suitably amusing cuisine and decent beers, will be back sooner this time. read more

Came here on a Saturday night..visiting from Florida. Draft selection was good. Ambiance was nice and food was good. I had a veggie burger..very delicious with great texture and my husband had burger. We also tried pickle chips which were delicious..however you can't go wrong with something fried. We also had scotch eggs. Those were not great overall according to my husband. I would give this place a 4 out of 5. read more

What a difference a year has made to the Draft House. We turned up on the Monday before Christmas at 7pm for dinner to find the place pretty much deserted and very low on atmosphere. No worries on that account as we were 10 strong and had brought plenty of the festive spirit with us. We had the same table in the back room where we had sat a year previously and, other than the strange lack of folk, things seemed to be set fair for an evening of good food and drink. Unfortunately this was not to be the case as the food offering at the Draft House has gone rapidly downhill over the course of the last year. This may account for the lack of punters at what should be the busiest, buzziest time of the year. Starters where bland at best and pretty dreadful at worst; with special mention of the soup in the latter category. Moving onto the mains saw no improvement; my beef had certainly been slow cooked but was dry and tough while the salmon had been very badly overdone. It was a relief to get to the dessert course with the end now in sight but there was still no respite from the dreadful food; my creme brûlée had a nasty eggy flavour and a strange consistency while the cheese election was just plain disappointing. On the upside the staff were very nice and friendly and the beer selection from the cask, keg and bottle was pretty decent. All things considered this was a big let down when compared to our experience at the Draft House the previous year and the overwhelming consensus amongst my companions was that its time had well and truly been and gone. Looks like the nearby Dean Swift could be getting our business next year .. Went here a couple of weeks before Christmas with a bunch of the guys for dinner and a few choice beers. Despite my reservations about venturing out for food in these types of settings at this time of year I was more than pleasantly surprised. Yes it was absolutely packed and yes the service was a little slow but other than these minor gripes it was good news all round and I will definitely be giving the Draft House a return visit in the New Year to sample the fine beer selection once again. We sat in the back area of the bar which was marginally quieter than the front area but was still pretty lively; a good spot if you are with a large crowd. We had reserved our table a few weeks beforehand to ensure we could be accommodated and we had been warned that it would be very busy and that turning up on time was essential if we wanted to get fed at a reasonable hour. For once we all managed to comply. Food wise I was very pleased with my selection from the Christmas set menu. My starter of Arbroath salmon ballotine was a big slab of very tasty, moist, well flavoured fish. The main of goose with all the trimmings was well cooked and presented, with a selection of meat from across the bird. The vegetables still had a little bit of bite and a good flavour which was a minor miracle given the number of covers they were serving on this evening. This was all washed down with a couple of pints of the Wandle ale and a Porterhouse Red. I finished off with a plate of three artisan cheeses and some chutney accompanied by a bottle of the Yeti Imperial Stout, an inspired marriage if I say so myself. Despite having a focus on the beer, well it is called the Draft House, there was a decent choice of wine and our sparkling expert, Ms Pattison, was very enthusiastic about the Prosecco. Even on a busy night the staff were all very friendly, helpful and only to happy to make recommendations on what would work well with your food choice. The 3 course set menu was £22.50 which I thought was pretty good value considering the venue, the time of year and the quality of the food; our very varied party, who can be quick to complain, all declared themselves well pleased with their dinner and a return visit is already on the cards. read more
