Only time I've ever paid to drink Miller Lite under a freeway overpass. The Photohunt machine is broken, there's no buffet, and the TV is permastuck on The Nature Channel screensaver. Anyhoot, the disgruntled former Floridian barkeep girl with bangs from the Commadore & her slap bassist friend from The Muppet Band opened a pop-up Ponderosa under the BQE. Awesome low key bar in Greenpoint. It has a cool ski theme with hunting trophies all across the bar. They also seemingly have a back area where you can go and smoke as well. Nice neighborhood bar. I do miss boulevard tavern but like what they've done with the place. (same guys who own commodore) Good margaritas and the best veggie burger I've eaten in the city. The only bad thing are the bartenders. Unfriendly is an understatement. There is a line between being terse and being rude, and they cross it again and again. Also, not too hygienic to be working in the heat of the summer with a tank top. Kinda gross. Other than that a good place for last call. read more

Order delivery at night at your own peril. I ordered a late-night meal yesterday, and 45 minutes after I placed the order the delivery person showed up at The Drift to pick up my food only to find that the restaurant was closed. At that point it was too late to order anything from anywhere else and we ate mac and cheese out of a box. I assume the poor delivery person made zero dollars for his or her lost hour at 3am, which probably didn't feel very good for him or her, either. Thanks, The Drift. Came here with my cousin one night and it was great. Super low key place to catch up with friends and grab beers. We had the deviled eggs, boiled peanuts, and the chicken sandwich. Everything was super simple and great. The deviled eggs come two ways, but I wish both had the fresh jalepeno on it as it delivered a great crunch/kick (but thats just my preference). Perfect place to just chill and hang out, they did the whole low key dive bar thing right. Extra points that it smells like smoked meat basically when you walk in haha. A great find in Brooklyn!! This bar is so cozy and warm - you will feel like you're sitting in a ski lodge! The drinks are super cheap and the menu is on the smaller side but still good options. Love this bar! Head here before or after a show at the new Brooklyn Steel music venue (about an 8 minute walk away?). The Drift's classic ski lodge interior makes for a cozy and casual meeting place. It's got bouncy booths and boozy beverages!!! (The Orange Julio goes down real easy.) My cousin and I snacked on some yummy pimento cheese with jalapeño slices and threw back a couple Moscow Mules after seeing a rockin' Black Angels show. read more

This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my lifetime! The bartender was not just rude, but agressive. As a forigner I was disrespected by her several times, because of my accent and for asking questions. She leaned over the counter and made big hand movements towards my face and acted outrageous. Nah. It's too bad this place mostly stinks because the space and location have so much potential to be something truly unique. Right under the BQE, the long, pleasantly dim interior bar and backyard space have a charm but the execution of hospitality is dismal. The cocktails are carelessly and heartlessly prepared via plastic pre-mixed containers and invariably served in a beer pint glass with no regard for a more tasteful presentation. I haven't tried the food but it's a nice touch that it's offered. Unfortunately however the worst element of all at Drift, are the seemingly steady rotation of expressionless, personality bereft, job hating, aloof and altogether unpleasant if not openly hostile bartenders. Grow up boys. It's no longer uncool to care; that was last year. read more

Smells like a campfire and has awesome taxidermy, two of the best things in life. Sadly the kitchen had closed by the time I tried to order food, but I trust it's delicious as the Commodore and El Cortez are both on my list of favorite places to eat. Drinks were pretty stiff too, either that or I just had a lot of them. I got slightly too drunk. I guess that's the sign of a great bar. Outdoor area will be great in the summer. read more

Dimly lit, laid back bar with taxidermy on the walls and good snacks! I had a moscow mule and the pimento cheese plate. The Drift is perfect for date night, groups, and outdoor hangs too, plus it smells faintly of smoked meat and it is close to the new music venue Brooklyn Steel so you can pop over for a pre or post show drink. As a father of five, I have to say that I love the Drift bar! Of course the kind people running this fine establishment refuse to seat or serve my underage children but I completely understand that the law is the law, no matter how inconvenient it may be to a beleaguered dad such as myself. The food here is excellent! Their cut rib sandwich is delicious and I enjoy it frequently, as my children's faces press longingly against the front windows of the bar. They ask me almost daily how the cut rib sandwiches taste, and I tell them how delicious they are! I tell them how well the flavors pair with my lager and they ask me what lager is. I tell them it's like apple juice for dads but it makes you tired and grumpy after a while and they ask me why I don't drink regular apple juice which doesn't make anyone grumpy and I tell them that I'm a dad and it's my responsibility to drink the grumpy apple juice and eat the cut rib sandwiches, just as it's their responsibility to stand outside of the Drift in the cold. read more

Used to have great bartenders. The new guy with a shaved head was intentionally over charging me and my friend. I know the prices, I've been going here since before he was hired. Charged me $6 on a $4 Busch, gave him the benefit of the doubt and ordered a Schafer which are usually $3. He charged me $4 and when I tried to question the price change he ignored me. read more
