Second visit to this restaurant, this time on New Year's eve. Spectacular meal! Special small bites were served throughout. Excellent service. As seen on PBS show Wisconsin Foodie. Reservations always needed! .

(visited 2025.05.10) soooo tasty! the duck was some of the best I've ever had. scallops were nice and soft, and for dessert, one must try the panna cotta! nice atmosphere--a more casual atmosphere with high-quality food.

If you look up the word SERENDIPITOUS on GOOGLE, or in the dictionary, this restaurant's picture should be right next to the word! I have used YELP on every vacation, whether traveling America, or in Europe. This little place is possibly the best find I have ever made. Viroqua, WI, is a small town (population 750+) in SW Wisconsin, not far from La Crosse. The menu is quite daring, but the flavors are amazing, and the presentation is picture perfect. For example, when have you EVER had White Bean and COCONUT Soup? Be honest...,NEVER! It sounds crazy, but OMG! It is spectacular. How about WILD RICE ARANCINI? We had no idea what to expect, but it was kind of like the best hush puppies you have ever had, filled with Wild Rice (kind of North Country meets the Deep South) an assortment of local vegetables, shaved so very thin, and a wonderful green salad and terrific thick toast on the side. Adventurous doesn't begin to describe this chef! Sophie was a wonderful waitress. Very kind and patient with a couple of old happily married (50 years) people. We live in Cincinnati, but my wife is from Minnesota so anything with Wild Rice is going to be on our order (we no longer have huge appetites so we share entrees, etc.). Don't leave without dessert. The chocolate chip cookies were the perfect end to a perfect meal. We were in Vernon County to take pictures of Quilt Barns and I am thinking how we can head back to the Driftless Cafe on the way back home. What a wonderful experience. Thank you all, very much!!!

Lunchtime at The Driftless cafe will not disappoint. Always friendly and a relaxing place to go in Viroqua. And the food is awesome.

Came back to visit family in Viroqua WI. Great small town restaurant. They have a small lunch menu with a focus on local products and ingredients. The creamy Tuscan beef was delicious. Large local salad with lemon peppercorn dressing was fresh. The Driftless Cafe double cheeseburger is a must if your a burger fan. Got a huge slice of pizza for $5.00, also very tasty.

Never disappoints!! Brought some friends who are from the area but didn't know about this little treasure lol They are now on the bandwagon (as we are) for the Driftless Cafe. Such an incredible find in this little town! Fabulous evening with friends Service is always friendly and welcoming, very welcoming not in the least pretentious even though their food is on par with the best snooty places! Hahaha! Atmosphere is relaxed and unassuming then the food comes out and you're just blown away. Every time.

Yup. It's as good as they say. Well worth the drive. You can tell the food is made with love. My pork dish was divine (and huge!). Service was friendly and patient. The overall vibe of this place is very casual, Which I welcome. Establishments of great food don't need to be stuffy!

Passing through the area, stopped for lunch and pleasantly surprised by the Driftless Cafe! The outside is understated but as you walk in, the cafe half is a beautiful interior full of sunlight. Food is entirely sourced locally and they proudly list from who on the wall. The cute paintings on the walls are also for sale for anyone interested. There's at least one real tree inside but I believe it's just for show... Food is a delicious slice of Americana as everything is made fresh with love. You're in Wisconsin so obviously I needed something with cheese (mac and cheese). Fish and chips was served with a local twist using nearby walleye, and a simple side salad finished it off. Special shout out to the sweet potato creme brulee. Great place to recharge in the Driftless Valley if you're in the area!

It just so happened to be oyr servers birthday as well, so that was fun & she was so sweet & accommodating... the atmosphere is is wonderful with the distillery, gift shop & a view of the river right out on the terrace if you want to eat outside. We saw a mother & baby deer right across from us and a whole family of geese with their gosling. We loved the place so much, we came back 2 days later for lunch before leaving the area. Take the Distillery tour & buy some amazing infused balsamic vinegars, oils, bourbon, brandy, bourbon BBQ sauce, scented candles & other before leaving. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We will come back & visit more of Baraboo just to eat here again!

The cool thing is if you arrive earlier to your tasting, you can bring the drink with during the tour. I love the atmosphere and really enjoyed the tour guide!

When it comes to breakfast, I like mine simple and basic. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, English muffin or toast. There may be other offerings, but this is my go to/comfort zone. I at first wasn't going to get the buffet, but when I noticed how they made sure the offerings were always fresh and not just sitting on a warmers, I decided to give it a try. Everything was hot and fresh! The scrambled eggs were not lifeless and flat, for lack of better words they were fluffy. The hash browns were amazing too. I'm going to skip over to the breakfast sausages and bacon. Truly Amazing, the best I've ever had. I must admit that I did return to the buffet for an additional serving of both. It took much self control not to keep returning and continue grazing on sausage links and bacon. I would highly recommend the breakfast buffet and wish you luck on portion control.

We chose 5:00 on a Friday thinking they wouldn't be too busy yet, and there were plenty of tables available. My wife and I had the same thing, a glass of Malbec, the chopped salads, the pork shank with mashed potatoes and crispy Brussels sprouts, and the cast iron cookie with ice cream. Everything was delicious, and very plentiful. Service too was outstanding. Absolutely the finest restaurant in the Wisconsin Rapids area. We enjoy The Dirty Oar and the supper clubs, but Aldo's food is far superior.

When we found this place, we decided to try it out. We didn't know that there was a bit of a gravel path to reach the restaurant but I promise ... it's worth it. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender (I'm sorry but I stupidly forgot her name!) and she was so funny and we bonded immediately being both boy moms. She was beyond knowledgeable of the food and drink menu which is always a huge plus! When we got our food, it was PERFECT. My husband and I are both foodies and I have had countless steaks in my life, but this hands down was THE BEST filet I have ever had. The owner Roumel, who is also the head chef, table touched which is unheard of now a days and we started talking about me being from Cleveland and him being from Chicago and next thing I know we're comparing our 2016 World Series notes. His were obviously better, but it was such a wholesome conversation! His wife Jilaine told us all about the story behind the restaurant and what encouraged them to buy it and the passion behind both of their words were so genuine that you could tell they took pride in their staff, restaurant and food. As a Cleveland baseball fan who got their heart broke by the Cubs, this meal helped a bit to forgive ... maybe not forget but definitely in the right step to forgive!
