When I say five stars, it's not five stars in term of fancy or sophistication like you're eating at…read morethe Tack Room back in the day. But I will say I've eaten all the best places in Scottsdale and the Biltmore area, I've eaten in the steakhouse in the Winn sitting next to Al Pacino and the other best places in Vegas and this guy is getting right what higher end places are getting wrong. They tell you it is only a choice steak on the menu. When asking the waitress what was good she said locally sourced locally butchered and I 100% believe it! Better than some of the so called specialty butcher shops I've been to! This thing was perfectly cut. When I ordered it medium, it came medium. The shrimp wasn't overcooked. It was perfectly cooked, which they can screw up in any good steakhouse shockingly. This place was honest, the price was fair, staff was an absolute pleasure, and an absolute value. And I write some scathing reviews on here for me to find something to complain about on this price point The only thing I'd say is when a guy gets a fully loaded baked potato bring more than one butter. lol I'm looking for something to complain about. This place is great! 100% BurishBreakdown Aproved

With a full bar, they served everything! There were several tables of couples; the fellas having beer and the ladies enjoying some very colorful concoctions! My mom was chilled so she ordered the soup of the day. Very hearty! She loved it! I ordered the 1/2 Broasted Chicken. I must confess....when it arrived it was so juicy and perfectly crispy that I dove right in forgetting to take a picture!!!! When we arrived, and right before we left, we used the restroom! Very clean! Smelled fresh even later in the evening! Thank you for that! Wish I was closer! I would eat here often! MOST SINCERELY

A nice place. Service was some of the best I've ever had. Food was solid, but not the best. I will…read moresay that I think it is as good as I expected it to be, but I always hope it'll be better thus I am not leaving a 5-star review. Fried pickles spears with the rock n roll sauce were great. I wouldn't have ordered these except my server recommended them out of all the apps, so I went with that. Fried things at places like this usually lack flavor and are just salty, fried bar food. These had some kick. The rock n roll sauce was like a Mayo with Frito's Chili Cheese Twists, so they were yummy. Tilapia on wild rice was ok, but it's tilapia, so how amazing can it be, right? Broccoli wasn't too over cooked and it still had a healthy green color, so I was happy with that. And the fries were a tad greasy, but they came out hot and crunchy. I think if they let the oil drain off them a bit more under a heat lamp, they'd hold their crispness a bit longer. Oh, and it was an entire plate of fries, so portions were generous. Lastly, everything was served very quickly. The place wasn't super-busy, but it wasn't dead and I was happy about the timeliness. I ordered an app first then placed an order for my entree after munching on that. And I was out done in 45 minutes. Granted, I was eating alone, but still. If you enjoy meat, I highly recommend giving this place a shot. I am a pescatarian (mostly vegetarian) and I have a sneaking suspicion that their beef and chicken options have much more developed flavors.

When we got there on Friday night it was not very busy. We got our drinks, and ordered the pretzel with cheese. I would recommend the pretzel. It was soft, and the cheese had really good flavor. Then we decided to order wings. They were ok, nothing too spectacular. Not a lot meat and some were also dry. As the restaurant/bar got busier our waitress seemed to forget about us. It was harder to get our drinks. We wanted something to munch on again, so we ordered the fries. I hate to say it but those were probably the best things we ate there. Salted and cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. The beers were cold and I was able to get a cold glass to pour my bottle of beer into but, again that's when we could get service. The restaurant had a lot of seating. It had televisions where we could watch hockey and basketball. It was good for where it was located but I'm not sure we would go back.

Our waitress took forever to come take our drink order. The other two people joined us and it took forever to get the drinks. My husband had to actually ask if they were coming. We had two more people join so we asked if we could move to a different table to the bartender. I have no idea where our waitress went. We went over there and it took about 10 minutes for her to come back to see what we wanted. We wanted more drinks. But we have no idea where she was by the way when we first moved tables to the six she under her breath whispered what the fuck. Throughout the entire time we were there we had to go up to the bar and get drinks. The guy bartender was very nice, but I have no idea where the waitress was. The food took probably 40 minutes. It was OK food but we didn't get any silverware more and we had to continue going to the bar to get drinks the only time she actually was nice was when she brought us the bill and said thanks. Have a great night at that point we were done.

Our waitress greeted us almost immediately and was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We ordered the nachos, chislic, and a Cobb salad, and everything was spot on. The Cobb salad was fresh, and the blue cheese dressing was especially good. The nachos were a pleasant surprise--they use real melted cheese instead of queso, and they were loaded with toppings. Being from out of state, we were told we had to try the chislic since it's a South Dakota staple. It reminded us a little of Chinese-style spare ribs in flavor. It was definitely tasty, though a bit chewier than we expected. Even so, we're glad we tried it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience a local specialty. Overall, great service, great food, and a fun atmosphere on the rooftop deck. We'd definitely recommend Cubby's if you're in Brookings.

After placing our order, we sat there for what felt like forever with no updates, no explanation, and no sense that anyone was paying attention. What made it worse was watching other tables--who arrived after us--get served before we did. It honestly felt like we were forgotten. When the food finally came out, it didn't even feel worth the wait. By that point, the whole experience was just disappointing and irritating. If you're planning to eat here, be prepared to wait... and wait... and then wait some more. There are plenty of other places that actually respect your time. I won't be coming back.
