Wow. That was my first impression of this place. We stayed in the Santa Cruz room and the room was great, with one exception the bed was hard. The room was basically a small house with a living room, small kitchen (including microwave, sink, and a fridge), large bathroom and separate bedroom. The Jacuzzi is a good size and is in a perfect position to watch TV. There is a DVD player in the room, so bring some if you got them. The front desk has a selection of movies, but it's not expansive and may not have what you like. The bathroom is a good size with an enviable shower for 2 that you'll want to install at home. The breakfast is decent, but my definition of breakfast includes some kind of protein. This one just had cereal, bagels, and muffins. Overall it is a great little place to relax and stay in or use as a base camp to go exploring. The pier and State Street is walking distance or you can borrow a bike and explore farther out. If we go back to Santa Barbara this will be a top choice. read more

We understand the facility is older than we had expected and can accept some issues in line with an older building. That being said the large open cracks in doorjambs, cracks in ceilings and walls, water stained paint were not expected or acceptable for the cost of the room. The in room jetted tub (Our biggest reason for booking) was not functional and as I am an old electrician with confidence the motor came on but with its whine and struggle had not worked in some time. When we brought that to the attention of the front desk at check out we were sharply told they would look into the issue. Food was some days eatable but most days not, we opted to leave the Inn for breakfast. Very disappointing experience. read more

Went up for just 1 night, a Wednesday in April, and booked it using the Hotel Tonight app. We ended up getting one of the cottages and it was awesome!!! The lady on the phone was super friendly and left keys and instructions for me since we were arriving after 10pm when the front desk closes. - 2 person jaccuzzi tub - what?!?! so awesome. Here's proof you can fit 2 people over 6' tall in there (with a little maneuvering! :) - 2 person shower (2 shower heads) - super comfy king bed with really high quality sheets - dvd player - mini fridge - walking distance from the bridge and pier - loved having our own little apartment :) Could have stayed there for a week. Sadly, we didn't get a chance to take advantage of the free breakfast. I will definitely come back here if I can afford it. My husband and I stayed here for 1 night only for our 6year anniversary. I love the interior design and location. They did a little surprise for us and put rose petals on the bed. The price is kind of high but I guess it's always like that in California. They had complimentary breakfast and it was pretty good. Love this place! The staff is one of the nicest customer service experiences I've had-- every single person. I stayed here during Covid19 and the hotel prioritized my safety. The rooms were clean, they followed every protocol for the city, and everyone on the staff wore masks. Breakfast was such a treat every morning, made right in their kitchen and can be delivered to your door. They had a coffee machine that could be used all hours of the day. There was also parking and many little sitting areas around the property that I enjoyed. I enjoyed our rooms. They have character and everything I needed. The location was great as well, close to State Street and also the beach, where we walked to every morning. I will definitely be coming back here when I stay in Santa Barbara. read more

Found the Eagle inn on yelp looked great took the leap and booked a room for our 18th anniversary on Sunday October 21st and all I can say is that we were more than happy with everything! The staff was great the room (the San Clemente) was great. Only thing was that the spa tub was a bit loud sounds like it needs a little attention. But that did not distract from how much we enjoyed the room. We called on our way to confirm early check-in, the phones were forwarded to an answering service and no one returned our message. Construction is loud even at 10pm and the kitchen is closed for renovations which means they offer VERY limited in room breakfast. When I asked for a vegan option they laughed and said I could eat plain granola... thanks but no thanks. Because we booked through Bed and Breakfast.com we don't qualify for the $10 breakfast credit, our options are to accept a non-vegan breakfast that I won't eat or nothing. No other options were presented. The room is small but very clean. Hopefully tomorrow will be amazing and I can update my review. Today was no better. All night there was noise, it sounded like someone was running down the stairs. At 5:15am someone was talking loudly in the lobby. This morning the young lady at the desk was very helpful and lent us an umbrella. She is the only reason they get 2 stars. We get back to our room this evening and ask for ice and cups so we can have a drink in our room, however today they don't have ice when yesterday they had ice. Not pleased. read more

Came here for 20th wedding anniversary. The Romance package was lovely and the hotel was a great choice for a special occasion. Everyone we talked to was friendly and helpful and the privacy of the casita was great. Loved getting breakfast brought to us. Just had a lovely three night stay here. Had a first floor king room with fireplace, jacuzzi tub and balcony. The room was very nice, super clean, and charming without being fussy. The bed was very comfortable. The only thing I would change is to have a bigger closet so bags could be stashed out of sight, but this was only a minor inconvenience. Breakfast was very good and the menu changed daily. We liked that the servings were good size, but not too large. I did see people ask for seconds with no problem. The staff on check-in was pleasant and helpful as was the breakfast staff. We had no need to call on them for any issues so I can't say how helpful they'd have been. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay for my birthday weekend. We were in the San Clemente room and it was comfortable, well appointed and had a cozy fireplace. There was even a little private patio. We have a service dog and they were very respectful and asked all the right questions to correctly identify that she was a legitimate service dog. Hubby and I just got back from our stay and we were very happy that we booked at The Eagle Inn! The check in was effortless, Kayla had our check in slip ready, gave us our keys and even told us about the bikes, 50 cent trolly fare, where to catch it and gave us a map of the area all within 5 mins- without it seeming rushed at al!! Our room was spacious- I think it was a deluxe King instead of the Queen room I booked but I didn't realize that until I came back to Yelp to update this review and found pics of all the rooms. Did we get lucky?! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I think I could have laid down in bed all day if I got a chance- it was that comfortable! The room also had a fireplace (with fake wood but it gave the room the right ambience - besides, I had a wood fireplace and upkeep is crazy!) The room also has an a/c unit AND a ceiling fan which provided a nice flow of air in the room if you didn't want the a/c. Open the doors to the small balcony (some rooms have bigger balconies) and with the ceiling fan it was fantastic! We didn't have a 2-person tub (which I will splurge on next time and/or on the casitas) but the shower had nice water pressure! Plus I think they have a water softener (if you've ever had a water softener at home you'll know what I'm talking about- could be wrong, but the shower was pretty nice). The complimentary hot breakfast menu just has 2 choices but it was filling enough to get a good start to your day- especially if you sit out on the patio; didn't matter to us if it was just a street view- it was still being outside. Service in the dining room was also great- bring a few bucks down for tip as these kids work hard! Hubby and I took advantage of the free bike rentals to ride up and down the bike bath. Now, this is a nice touch and the bikes weren't old (sometimes at other hotels they are ancient) and came with baskets so you can haul your shopping items or picnic items with you! And SB is so bike friendly- there are bike paths and bike stands everywhere! We also walked everywhere as we were trying to do SB Car-Free! It was great that the Inn was just a short 5-10 min walk (2-3 mins on the bike) to either the marina area, Stearns Wharf AND State St (by the train station)- so convenient! There is no working elevator but the steps were not hard to navigate even with a large roll away. If there was anything negative I would say that the cookies; which I was looking forward to having in the afternoons, just didn't taste quite right and I really wanted to like them. And I could have sworn I was told that the coffee machine was available 24/7 yet when we passed by at 10 pm the door to the dining area was locked- I'm ok with that since I don't usually drink coffee that late but I'm just wondering if others would find it a nuisance (or maybe I misunderstood at check in). Also, first night I did hear someone snoring from somewhere... next door? Below me? But it wasn't too bad. And no truck or car noise from outside either. Overall, such a nice, restful stay. And you can't beat the level of customer service! We were a little nervous when I first booked since we are so used to staying at big name hotels: Westin, Sheraton, Hyatt etc but we were extremely happy to have this experience. We had a lovely stay in the San Nicolas casita! I'm in love with this town, neighborhood and inn! The buildings in the area are the red-tiled roofs and white washed stucco iconic of the area. The palm trees, plants, beautiful buildings and great weather make this place a special kind of paradise. In walking distance is the ocean and many great bars and restaurants. Our room was very clean and nice if a little dated with a large balcony covered in vines which made it semi-private. The place serves a variety of made to order breakfast items, which was cool. I would say the breakfast was a little hit or miss, and I would recommend getting the yogurt and granola option as a snack and heading out to one of the many great coffee shops and cafes in the area for some better fair. For the reasonable cost of the room for the area the breakfast is a total bonus. The staff were all incredible and the room was cleaned with no cut corners each day. It was noisy as hell at night but that's not their fault! The hotel is in a busy neighborhood near the highway and there are trains that come through periodically. If you're a delicate sleeper bring some ear plugs and sleeping pills. We felt this was such a great value for what we got in Santa Barbara! What a gem of a place! read more

The hotel is very nice but I'm writing this review because of my recent trip. I had arranged a trip for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday. After making the reservation a month in advance of our trip for Veteran's Day weekend, I contacted the Eagle Inn directly and informed them I needed to make sure I got Room 109 as my mother-in-law is 80 and I suffer from MS so we both have difficulty climbing stairs. I was informed that room was available and notes were made so this would be my room at the time of arrival. Upon check in I was informed that room was not available and we were checked into Room 218, and all notes had been removed from the computer. It was extremely difficult climbing the stairs to the room with our bags because they have no elevator. The girl at the front desk was very apologetic and arranged for us to be transferred to Room 109 the next evening. The whole experience was a big disappointment for a trip I had been planning for a such a special occasion. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past but have doubts I will come back since they cannot seem to guarantee special requests. If I would have been able to find another hotel at the moment of check in I would have walked out. Beware before making special reservations with this hotel. read more

Let me remember when I stayed at a better place.... I traveled to 36 separate countries, stayed in countless cities and towns, and villages, speak a couple of languages, lived is several cultures. I stayed in India in places where the latrine was outside and in Paris and London where the bathrooms were the size of a medium NYC apartment. This is the best hotel of all of them. First, service is superb. Paul and Louise are the sibling owners from somewhere close to Manchester (that's in the UK for the geography-challenged). Kayla is amazing and bubbly. Isabel was born on Genfersee and is sooo friendly. Ask any of them for a restaurant or a wine tasting recommendation - you'll be amazed at the places they send you. When you check in, there will be chocolates waiting for you. And 2 sets of glasses: champagne flutes and wine glasses. And 2 ceramic cups for your coffee. And a fridge (for all of those leftovers from all of those awesome restaurants). The room sizes are large. And if you stay at one of the casitas, you'll get lost (I lost my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night - the casita was that big). The whirlpool tubs are big - they don't have a strong set of jets but they allow you to fully soak and warm up. The gas fireplaces are very nice in the middle of long winter nights. The furniture is wooden and strong - you might think you are in a French castle in the middle of the 14th century. The sheets are white, the pillows are large. The location is 3 blocks from the ocean. Depending on which side you stay, you might see the sun rise from your window. Breakfast. Yes. There is a set menu but you can order - if you are nice and friendly that is. I would get scrambled eggs even if they aren't on the menu. If it's not enough, you can request seconds. The coffee machine downstairs is handy with all the various drinks it makes and you can take them with you while on a walk on a beach. So, tips: stay in the main house unless you have a huge party. If you like the sunrise, get the rooms on the second floor that face the parking lot. In the summer months, get a room with a balcony. read more

My husband and I had a romantic, relaxing and wonderful time at The Eagle Inn. We stayed on the second floor and had a very relaxing and peaceful sleep in the back area. The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. They surprised us with rose pedals and champagne for our 40th Anniversary celebration. It was very thoughtful! We were very impressed with the very kind and helpful staff. We walked around the area at night and never felt uncomfortable, and we are old, but young at heart. I've never been more pleasantly surprised by a hotel room and so completely disappointed by the hotel staff. We were in Santa Barbara for a wedding last weekend, checking in to the Eagle Inn before the 4:30pm. At check-in, the hotel staff provided the key and bad/incorrect directions to our San Miguel room. They failed, however, to mention that they would be closed after 10pm. I have never been to a hotel where the front desk closed. They also gave us a breakfast slip to fill out and bring back later that night so we could have our breakfast delivered to us the next morning. Again, they failed to mention they close at 10:00, so guess who never got breakfast? Around 10pm, we starting driving, and then walking around the hotel bungalows in the dark trying to find our room. The staff failed to provide an actual room number, instead giving us the name of the bungalow, which we were only able to make out after walking right up to almost every bungalow in the two block radius (over 30 minutes after our search began). I called customer service twice. The first time there was no answer. The second time, we got someone who was able to navigate us to our room. The directions were nothing like what we had recieved earlier. We complained about what we had gone through, but that person did not care and told us tothat person did not care and told us to call Paul the manager. The room itself was nice. The dual-head shower, the huge television, the very comfortable, clean bed. The in-room spa was very luxurious and the little soaps provided in wine glasses were a nice touch. The separate kitchen (with fridge) was very nice as well. Sadly, none of that really mattered because it was all negated by what we experienced. We were awakened by leaf blowing gardeners that were making noise outside of our window for half an hour. There was no water anywhere in our room and we had no breakfast. We had a less than desirable nights sleep since we were so pissed off trying to find our room. At checkout, my wife complained to the unqualified lady at the front desk. The lady's reaction was essentially "bummer, sorry." During check out, we asked to speak with the manager as the girl managing the front desk was unable to provide an answer to any question and could not be bothered with our opinions. She did however produce a wedding gift bag that we were supposed to receive upon arrival. That bag had water and treats which would have been quite useful to us. When asked if there were any restaurants in the area that she might recommend, she said she had no idea. The owner, Paul, was present during this whole check out experience, but he concerned himself entirely with the organization of some brochures in the corner of the room and did not bother speaking up, even when the girl looked to him for help. Later, when we called and attempted to reach Paul, the same girl at the counter asked us to hold. Leaving the line connected and unmuted (just muffled), she asked Paul if he was available to speak with a guest who had just checked out. Paul told her to tell us that he had left for the day. When she came back on the phone she said he was unavailable. Then we asked when he would be and she said he left for the day. That was not only unprofessional, it was basically a slap in our face. I asked when Paul might be available some other day. She said she didn't know. Again amazing facilities, loved the the room, but felt very put off by the owner and his staff. They didn't even bother to pretend that the quality of our stay mattered to them. Would we ever stay there again? Only if we were given a sincere apology and a free room. There is no reason why we should have been dismissed that way. That was a huge waste of $269. We had a choice of a much less expensive room at Fess Parker Double Tree where our wedding party was, but we chose the Eagle Inn because we wanted what we thought would ge a romantic evening. We could not have been more disappointed. read more

If I had to choose one place for a romantic getaway in Santa Barbra I'd pick this place. I cannot say enough and they were extremely accommodating. I took my girlfriend here for a weekend (Fri - Sun) for a combo birthday + Christmas gift and everything went perfect. They had the room set up with rose pedals when we walked in the first time, then I asked if they could set up champagne and chocolate covered strawberries when we went out for dinner. When we got back for dinner the champagne, strawberries, and candles we all set up perfectly! My girlfriend was very surprised. Then they helped me schedule a couples massage that evening, which was another surprise. So the first afternoon / evening there was absolutely perfect. The vibe of this inn is very boutique, quaint, and charming. Perfect for couples. We could also use the bikes daily (for free), which we did. They gave us great suggestions on where to go and what to do. Both State Street, the beach, and the train station are all walking distance. I'd say my girlfriend had a great experience for her first stop in Santa Barbara because this place made such a nice impression. read more

I have to admit, it's a pretty decent Santa Barbara get away even though I was in a foul sick mood. You're not to far away from State street and just about everything to do in Santa Barbara while also having plenty of wine/beer/food nearby. Which is a good thing because I can't really say their breakfast was anything special. So I guess one of those B's in the B&B should be changed to a B- There was also not a single day that I went for breakfast where I didn't suddenly feel the urge to want to punch at least one or two of the other people in their smug faces for being a bit too bourgeois. Though in my defense I already said I was in a pretty sick mood. But it seemed like the guest give off this douche-stench that made eating my fruit and cereal just a bit more difficult. On to the subject of the room. I have to admit they were pretty nice. A fire pit protected by glass, so you have no worries of accidentally sleep walking into it or dying of poor air circulation. You need suffer the ill effects of smelling like you've smoked two packs by the morning time. Which I have had problems in the past with when dealing with indoor fire pits. The hot tub was.. well, it was interesting. Def. a bit of trouble dealing with getting in and out. Though that could be due to the fact that I polished off a good 3/4ths of a Telegraph brewery growler. Might have been the time I went to the area, but the weather was really hard to adjust in the room to get it just right. Also could have been due to the fire place but I woke up with this feeling like I've been dried out and for the first time in a long experience had a bloody nose. Again.. while sick that is not the best thing to have. The front desk service was pretty nice and helpful. Over all, it's a good place to lay your head and get away from L.A. for a weekend. I discovered The Eagle Inn around 10 years ago and it's been the only Santa Barbara hotel/inn for me ever since. The Inn is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood just 2 blocks from the beach. On my first visit 10 years ago, I got a detached cottage with a king size canopy bed and full kitchen. The room was comfy but very old. But several years ago, they completely remodeled the place and did a wonderful job at that. The rooms still maintain that old world charm, but are now, equipped with many modern features (i.e. passcard keys, digital safe box, in-room jacuzzis, etc.). After the remodel, the room that I now always get is the "The King Superior w/Jacuzzi". This is probably the most luxurious of them all with a huge king size bed, a jacuzzi for 2 in the living room, balcony, etc. If you go off season (which we always do), the rate for even this room is very reasonable. But even during peak season, their rates are very fair compared to others with similar offerings. They offer AAA discounts as well as seasonal specials. And if you join their email list, they'll periodically send you notices of their specials. Although I really don't have a lot to complain about The Eagle Inn, if I were to nit pick, it would be their continental breakfast and lack of A/C. The complimentary continental breakfast is just stuff they pick up from the local Ralphs. I know it's free, but in a gourmet town like SB, I kinda hope for a little better. As for the A/C, since I usually go in the winter, it's never a problem. And being a beach town, SB is pretty comfortable even during summer with nice breezes, but for those days when the farenheits hit maximum, you may be frustrated by the lack of artificially cooled air. First 30 minutes in the place. I'm VERY MUCH IMPRESSED already. First, the location! It's not on a busy street so it's quiet BUT close to everything! Second the cleanliness of the place, it's so nice and peaceful. A place where you can really relax. The front desk is very polite and helpful. And lastly the room, it's full of nice details, the decor is superb. Stayed at SANTA ROSA and highly recommend this suite. We don't have anybody downstairs and we're the only room on the second floor. We got to rest and enjoyed all the amenities including the FREE BIKE RIDE. read more

Last April I booked a weekend for my boyfriend's birthday and was thrilled with the staff service and the treatment of management that I wrote blogs about it without sponsorship and even gave them a great review on Trip Advisor after Paul asked me to do so. My friends and family were planning a birthday weekend for myself coming up and I reached out to Paul for three rooms and links to my posts about his establishment and others around the area. He then offered a discount on the rooms. I was elated and bragged to all my friends about the kindness which I thought was reciprocation for my kind words and continued support of the Inn. Recently, I let Paul know that I was not going to be able to keep the three rooms with certainty but that my friend would most likely book separately and I went into great detail the issue at hand. I then received an email from one of his employees that they were sorry for the issue but were still glad to accommodate my request. The following day, I received an email from Paul himself that he would no longer be honoring the discount and attached was a new confirmation with a new bill that was hefty and a brush off and that in lieu of the change I should understand. I emailed him back for explanation and received none. I called the Inn and was never called back. I have been ignored and this is just bad business. Moving forward I will book elsewhere. read more

They gave us the Wrong room , the wrong info when we booked,and the wrong restroom the toilet didn't work properly it would flush we had to open the top lid to do it our self on top of that it made noisy all night ! .we asked to get a differ t room at least the same with a decent restroom but they said no ! So we hoy stuck with a room we didn't request and wasn't even in good service ! Horrible experience . They did me a refund on my first payment and still nothing back to my account. They didn't even give a good discount for the room since they had a messed up restroom that didn't flush, and book us the wrong room! $325.84 for a horrible room . Not worth it . Won't be coming back ! I was really upset I had booked at Haley hotel I cancel because this place give me a better vibe but it was a DISAPPOINTMENT AND THE FRONT DESK COULDN'T EVEN GIVE ANSWER THEY DIDNT Know ANYTHING and the manager wasn't available anywhere , Here I am still waiting for my refund of $386.68. I could've gone and got an other room but my refund was gonna take hours so they doble charge my card ! Just an FYI that if you take Amtrak you get a 20% discount on your stay! We didn't know that and had already paid with Expedia, wish we had so hope that helps someone else! Great location, lovely decor, very kind staff that gave us good recommendations in the area, and appreciated the hot breakfast considering it's not a regular B&B. If I had to ask for anything, it'd be that there were 2 hot breakfast options (maybe a meat one and a veggie one?) so that you weren't stuck with granola and yogurt if you don't want the main hot option. Summary: My partner and I recently stayed at this inn. While some of the amenities and location were great, there were glaring shortcomings. Location: 4/5 You're blocks from the wharf and State Street is within walking distance. Rooms: 3/5 Pretty standard in terms of amenities and it was clean. There were some chocolates and snacks in the room when we arrived, which was pleasant. The toiletries included were a nice touch. Service: 1/5 They offer breakfast at the inn and room delivery for it. We ordered a lox bagels and found a couple hairs tangled in the salmon. We were both disgusted and decided to eat at State Street instead. I contacted their management about this a week ago, and no one has responded. Value: 1/5 We paid $264 for one night in a room that was no more than 200 square feet, which is nuts for that price. Especially since the room wasn't particularly special, I felt we were overcharged. The room was clean and had extra amenities, such as extra toiletries, snacks, robes, coffee makers, microwave and fridge. The room was spacious double shower, Jacuzzi tub, and fireplace. They had put out rose petals over the tub as a nice surprise. Our bed was super comfortable. Our room included breakfast and we ordered the night before and it arrived promptly and as ordered. My boyfriend and I booked this hotel through HotelTonight after a last minute decision to stay in Santa Barbara one more night. The hotel is beautiful! It has a Mediterranean feel and the room makes you feel right at home. All rooms are located in the two story main building which makes you feel like a guest at a family home. Also it is extremely quiet so you feel alone and relaxed. I believe there are cottages in the back garden, as well. The only downside to the main building is that there isn't an elevator for guests that pack heavy. There is a parking lot though so that makes it a bit easier. We stayed in a basic room with a king sized bed but it was more than enough. It was spacious and had a desk area and lounge chairs. My favorite part of the rooms was there little touches that made you feel right at home like their welcome packages with Andes mint chocolates and Breathe-Rites just in case you're stuck with a snorer. I also fell in love with their bed spread made by Comphy Co. It was seriously like sinking into the softest bed of my life! I even went to bed earlier than usual just to be cuddled in the blankets. Along with the room there is a complimentary sit-down breakfast before 10am in their dining room. We caught it late so we only had yogurt and granola with fruit on the side, but it was a delicious start to the day. I think that day's breakfast was crab cakes. As you can tell, it's a quality breakfast. The staff is great here too. We initially were given a handicap bathroom but were easily transferred to another room. In the morning we were also locked out of our room because the key accidentally got deactivated but they quickly fixed it without any questions. Overall I highly recommend staying here. I wouldn't mind staying here again next time I make a stop in SB. I would love to take advantage of their rental bicycles to bike by the water. read more

My fiance and I have stayed here before, this is our go to place for Santa Barbara! We stay in the casitas that are located behind the actual inn. These are private lodgings that are each named after the channel islands. We have stayed at the San Miguel room in the past, this time we stayed in the Santa Barbara room. This was just beautiful. They had chocolate covered strawberries, a dozen red roses, chilled champagne, and a big heart made from rose petals and two kissing swans made from white towels on our bed to celebrate our 22nd year anniversary. What a beautiful way to help us on our week long celebration of our anniversary. read more

We stayed for the weekend and were in a room with a queen bed on the second floor. The room was outdated and run down, shabby without the chic. The shower water temperature fluctuated and the toilet runs if you don't jiggle the handle. The toilet itself wasn't properly set and moved, it was low to the ground and awkwardly situated behind the door. The television was old, small, staticky, and NBC and ABC weren't viewable. The bed sagged and the wall near the headboard looked dirty and... sticky. When we wanted to call the front desk the telephone was dead so I had to call from my cell. The only nice thing about this place is the lobby, the proximity to the beach, and the young man who served breakfast. Our biggest complaint would be the room but the front desk staff wasn't particularly friendly either. Lastly, we didn't bother with the breakfast on the second morning, we'd rather pay extra for a decent breakfast and good coffee. This place was overpriced and not worth half of what we paid. There are quite a few Inns on the same street that look nicer than this place, next time we'll stay somewhere else. I would avoid this place. read more

My husband and I stayed here during a recent visit to Santa Barbara. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. A "hot breakfast" is included but there is just one hot entree served each morning and if you don't like it you're left with granola, fruit and juice. While we were there they offered Mexican eggs (not to our tastes) and jalapeno waffles with fried eggs, which despite the name, were not spicy and were very tasty. I understand they can only offer one hot entree a day and can't make modifications to it, but I think it would be nice to at least offer toast or bagels for those who don't like the day's entree. They put out homemade chocolate chip cookies every afternoon, which is a really nice touch, although the cookies were always burned. They also offer free bikes for guests' use, which was really convenient. No helmets though, so I recommend bringing your own if you want to bike. The bikes are first come first serve and they told us they do run out sometimes on busy days, so get there early if getting bikes is important to you. Free wifi worked well, and I thought the location was pretty good. It's walking distance to both the beach and State St., although the particular restaurants we wanted to go to were further up State St., close to 2 miles from the hotel. We did not have any of the perks others mention such as bathrobes, double-head showers, or welcome baskets. Maybe that's because we weren't in one of the "premium" rooms, but I certainly felt like we were paying a premium enough price. The water pressure in our shower was really terrible and the water ran hot-and-cold but other than that we were satisfied with our room. Overall, we had a nice stay but I feel like this place is really expensive for what it is. Hotel prices in Santa Barbara are high and we did visit on a holiday weekend, but next time I'd probably opt for a cheaper hotel in a less desirable location, since I feel like the location is what you're really paying for here. read more

Hotel has great location, very nice rooms, clean, terrific breakfast included, bikes, beach chairs, cookies in the afternoon. Great value for the price. I'm a bit puzzled by my poor regard for this place, as SO many of you did show shining reviews. We went for our "30th honeymoon" and paid $540 per night through the AGODA online booking site. Then, upon arrival, the hotel insisted on collecting an extra $20, which the clerk insisted on, but could not explain. The price seemed high, but the date was important, and reviews looked good. Our room, the "Santa Cruz," was one of several small apartments behind the hotel. The apartments are totally remodeled and made very comfy and offer more privacy than being in the main building. SO: For this price, we expected high standards. However, we noticed many details lacking, such as a broken coffeemaker (and no spare units available); no ice available in the afternoon when we needed it; a broken DVD player; worn-out living room chairs, etc. Without listing all 14 problems here, let's just say we wrote to the manager the day we got home, but got no response. That, right there, indicates a lack of respect. read more

I came across The Eagle Inn's website while I was searching for hotels in Santa Barbara for my brother's wedding. I was having a hard time finding a hotel that would allow us to stay for only one night, so when I saw that The Eagle Inn had no minimum stay requirements, I booked it immediately. I didn't give it much thought again until a few weeks before the wedding when I realized that the wedding started at 2pm, but check in wasn't until 3pm. We were driving down from the bay area that morning and would need a place to freshen up and change into our wedding attire. I emailed the hotel to ask if there was any way we could check in early.and received a prompt response from Lisa, saying that she would make a note that we would need a 1pm check in. Star number 1! When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the beauty and location of the Inn. The gorgeous white building sits on a quiet, landscaped corner, a block back from the beach. We found parking right away in the parking lot and received a warm greeting by the girl at the front desk. She pulled up our reservation, checked us in to our room and wished us a fun time at the wedding (we had not mentioned to her that we were there for a wedding, she noticed the note in our reservation). Star number 2! The room was clean, spacious and inviting. It made us feel like we were at home instead of in a hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable and there were a ton a pillows on each bed. The toiletries in the bathroom were great and even included makeup removing wipes and an adorable little Dove travel sized deoterant. Star number 3! Though we were only there for one night, every single staff member we came into contact with was friendly and attentive The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Instead of the standard pastries/cereal/bagel continental breakfast that I have come to expect from hotels, we were treated to a hot, breakfast, served by a staff member. My favorite detail at breakfast was the little stand of mugs they had set out for coffee and tea. They really made me feel like I was having a cup of coffee at home. Star number 4! We reluctantly checked out and after spending the day shopping and eating, we hit the road. About an hour into the trip home, I realized I had left my wristlet behind, which included my credit card, cash and my ID. I called the front desk and they already had the wristlet sitting there. It was a Sunday, so they couldn't mail it out that day, but they put it in the mail the very next morning. I received it a few days later. Star 5, 6 and 7 as far as I'm concerned! I can't wait to go back the the Eagle Inn. I'm not going to say which room we had, because I think it's the best value room in their facilities and I want it to be available to us when we go. I will say, though, that the decor is a very Santa Barbara-ish Spanish colonial/Mexican and that any room will have character. It was immaculate, had thoughtful amenities and the tiny shower had two heads--which would have been even more spectacular had the shower been larger. We didn't check out the breakfast, but one of the best parts about our stay was that it included two loaner bicycles that allowed us to cruise around downtown and the pier on a gorgeous day.
