This place is amazing! We stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon and were very pleased. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The room we stayed in has a "veranda" and I would highly recommend you get that room. The veranda is huge, and very private. You have a GREAT view from this room. It even has a microwave and fridge (which we didn't use). They serve breakfast each morning - which was okay...the reason they get 4 stars instead of 5. You are literally two blocks from the beach so can walk in a matter of minutes and not have to worry about parking. We would absolutely recommend The Eagle Inn...ask for the room with the Veranda....And check out Emilio's for dinner. a five minute walk - decent wine list and great Italian inspired menu. :))) read more

Charming and adorable! With all of the mega-watt chain hotels that exist, it's hard to imagine quaint places such as these still exist! There were so many personal touches, it was so refreshing! We were staying in SB celebrating our anniversary so we booked a suite with a large jacuzzi tub and added the romance package (Ooo la la!). When we arrived to our room, we felt so special! There were rose petals, chocolates, champagne...just the works. It was as if one of our very own friends had snuck into the room and set this up for us. This place is just the cutest bed and breakfast ever! We got one of the larger rooms with a hot tub and fireplace and had the most relaxing trip. It feels very family owned and operated. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are lovely. It's walking distance from both the beach and State Street, but far enough to be in a quiet neighborhood. This place is so amazing. You get so much for your money here! We wanted to get away for the 4th of July at the last min and we got so lucky with a room. The hotel is clean and so pretty. Room had plenty of amenities that I needed and more. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Dual shower head and huge jetted bath tub are a major plus. They didn't skimp out on anything. My fiancé and I stayed here for just one night for an early Valentine's Day getaway. We stayed in the San Clemente Casita and it was perfect. I was really impressed by the level of customer service we received. There were chocolate covered strawberries and rose petals around the tub when we arrived which was a really nice extra touch. We got a text the morning we were checking in asking if we were planning to be there before 3 to let them know. When we said our ETA was 2pm they promptly responded they'd make sure our room was ready. The casita was well worth the money. We'll definitely be back. read more

This is our go to place in Santa Barbara. We love the rooms, the staff & complimentary breakfast! We stayed this time in the San Nicolas Cottage and it was beautiful with a jacuzzi and fireplace. Such an amazing place to stay in Santa Barbara. They have the best front desk workers(Shelly) and their general manager Paul is the best. My husband and I had a perfect 13 year marriage anniversary there from the 13th through 15 November and I have not one complaint. It was actually 1000 times better than it looks in pictures. I suggest everybody that reads this needs to spread the word and tell everybody they know to go to this perfectly quaint and gorgeous bed-and-breakfast but don't get the San Clemente room. that one's mine LOL read more

This review is long overdue. (super sorry) I had a friend in town in September and we stayed at the EAGLe Inn at the recommendation of my friend Sam who had stayed several times before. This is such a pretty place so in keeping with the vibe of the rest of Santa Barbara. We were welcomed warmly at reception and chatted with while we did the usual paperwork which took no time at all. We were given the run down of all the tasting rooms, which were local favorites and a couple of hidden gems we wouldn't otherwise have known about, as well as a number of other non wine related things to see. The room was extremely large, as was the bathroom and the bed was large and really comfortable. We even had a lovely little balcony we sat and had breakfast on the next morning. The rest of the property looked to have a wide variety of rooms of all shapes and sizes with some fire pits and patios so lots to choose from. The location is perfect for the beach and a short walk from State Street. It's easy to find both by road or if you arrive on the train. I'll be staying here again for sure. read more

The first time I went here was in May of 2011 for a mom's weekend away. It was so charming and in such a great location we decided to stay there again in October of 2012 for another mom's weekend. I can honestly say I enjoyed it just as much the second time. The only issue I had was with the breakfast menu. My allergies didn't work with what they were serving. When they e-mailed and asked for feedback from our stay I mentioned my allergy issues and they felt I had a really good point and would look into expanding the breakfast options. If you're in the 'Barbs, this is definitely the place to stay. so tell yo' kids, tell yo' wife, and tell yo' husband run and tell THAT, homeboy. ----------------- BODY ----------------- I cannot truly express how great my experience here was. After a week of endless searching, I was lucky enough to find and book their King Suite w/ Jacuzzi & fireplace(the last available one) to celebrate an early valentines day with the sweetheart. The inn was just two blocks away from the pier/beach - close enough to walk to the ocean, yet you don't have to pay a ridiculous premium those ocean-facing hotels and inns have . Plus, you don't have to deal with a constant barrage of traffic and people walking by staring into your window. Win-Win. The room itself was awesome: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - The jacuzzi tub was right next to the bed, so we had a nice back-and-forth ballet of soaking in the tub, then running out and hopping into bed to cool off until you're ready for the tub again. They also decorate the tub with rose petals in and around the tub. cute. - Two showerheads in the shower. probably one of the greatest ideas ever. every hotel should have this. I can finally shower without having her hog all the water! - fireplace to add some sexiness to the night - amazing soaps and lotions - Sheets that made you feel like you were flying in a cloud of warmth. literally. Eagle Inn knows their sheets are the bomb (dot) com too - so good that they had a sign on the table that said something along the lines of 'you know that dying question everyone has - the "What's the meaning of life?" question? well. we have the answer. It's these sheets. You're born so that you can sleep in these." (that may have been SLIIGHTLLY exaggerated. The real note might have actually said that if you liked the sheets, you can ask the front desk where to buy them - something we forgot to ask) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To add to the cheesiness that is Valentines day, I decided to cliche-up and add the Romantic Package they offered. Of course, being the big cheese-ball that I am, i asked for them to set up the package until we left for dinner, so that when we returned, we'd have the roses, champagne, and chocolate dipped strawberries waiting for us. Needless to say, i scored some serious brownie points there ;) Also, to top off the metaphorical ice cream sundae with a bright red cherry, the staff was friendly and sweeter than the diabetes-inducing syrup the cherries come in. REALLY nice place, great location, friendly and helpful staff. Charming decor, really nice room, lovely breakfast room. They stored our bikes for us, bought me almond milk to accommodate my food allergy, mailed me what I left behind, and were just lovely. The inn is somewhat quaint and the staff is friendly. The room we stayed in had a jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed the accommodations and the free breakfast. But upon checking out we went to find our car in the parking lot and couldn't find the car. We asked the manager to come out and look with us. Our car had been stolen right out of the hotel parking lot. The security cameras apparently were not turned on so no footage was captured. It has been almost a month and the car has not been recovered. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again purely because the manager did not find it important enough to have working security cameras or a competent security guard. If you don't want to risk having your car stolen then I wouldn't advise staying here. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't get booked up. Planned a getaway with the hubby and researched all the hotels by the beach. All the hotels had really good and really bad reviews. I only booked this one because it had cottages. Upon driving to the hotel I saw all the hotels I read about and most of them looked like old beach motels. This one looked pretty old and didn't look too promising from the outside, but as we opened the door to our cottage (we stayed in the San Clemente cottage) I was in love! The bed was huge & had lots of pillows; very comfortable I will add. There was a 2 person whirlpool tub right next to the bed, the shower had 2 shower heads, a sitting area, fireplace, fridge, and microwave. The only thing I did not like was there was no mirror for me to do my make-up besides the one in bathroom and the one in the foyer. Other than that this cottage was like a home away from home (except better). Did I mention the hotel is a block away from the beach? It's also close to all the shopping and great restaurants! You can walk, but wear good walking shoes! BTW, this hotel does not have an outdoor pool or a restaurant, but with the beach a block away and restaurants close by who needs those amenities? read more

We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendliness that was maintained by all of the staff during our stay. The room was great, and wasn't even one of the upgraded rooms (which will be our next stay!). The hotel is just a short walk to the beach (I saw some reviews suggesting otherwise; I honestly have no clue as to why since any closer and this hotel would be ON the beach) and close to the downtown area and some fun shops and places to eat. The room had a DVD player and there was a library of movies to borrow in the library, which was welcomed for relaxing on our first night. The hotel provided bikes that we used to explore on our second day, and the included breakfast that morning gave us a great start. We WILL be staying again! read more

Recently renovated, this small, quiet, and charming inn - a perfect example of Spanish-Colonial architecture, a style typical of historic Santa Barbara - is ideally located in a residential neighborhood only two blocks from West Beach, and is within walking distance of Stearns Pier. A very short drive away is the center of town, a wide, tree-lined avenue with shops and restaurants conforming to the same architectural style, resulting in an interesting uniform look. The 27-room inn is a welcome change from contemporary high-rise or motel-style chain properties. Each room is unique, light, and spacious, with beautiful period furnishings. All of them have a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave oven, cable TV with free movie channels, direct dial phone with voice mail, in-room safe, iron & ironing board, high-speed Internet access, AM/FM clock radio, and a hair dryer. Several have a fireplace, whirlpool tub, and/or a balcony. Both times we stayed here, the accommodations we had included a separate, fully equipped kitchen, where we prepared bacon and eggs to supplement the expanded continental breakfast that's included in the rates. Ample free on-site parking is available. The only thing missing, unfortunately, is a swimming pool. Rates range from $124 - 295.00, depending upon accommodations and season. Santa Barbara has enough to offer to warrant a stay of several days, and the Eagle Inn is the ideal place to put up your feet and relax after a long day of sightseeing, shopping, and dining. read more

Had high hopes for this place, love Santa Barbara. We got a deal through Living Social or Groupon or one of those for half off. Sounded awesome. Called, made the reservation, asked about pets and was told pets are okay. We get there, with our little, non-shedding dog, and are told they have a no pet policy. Now we didn't just walk our dog though the lobby for all to see, we snuck him in in his carrier, and snuck him out and in for each walk. We go to check out, all's well, had to pay the room tax, expected, and we were on our way. The next day I notice there's a $100 charge on my credit card from them I knew nothing about. I called them and they said there's a $100 cleaning fee if you have a pet because they don't allow pets. I said there was nothing to clean, and he didn't disturb anyone. They intentionally did not mention this to me in person at any point while we were there, shady to say the least. Strikes one and two... The room we got was the smallest I've ever stayed in, no doubt because we got it for half price. First floor, right next to the front desk and lobby with a view of the parking lot, where all could see in if you didn't close the shutters. The toilet was horrible, had to flush twice, holding the handle the whole time, every time no matter what business you did. Strike three... I will say the outside of this place was nice, and the decor was fine. All in all a negative experience. I will not recommend this place to anyone and will tell everyone I know who visits Santa Barbara to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I booked a Groupon for this hotel, a standard king room with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, to celebrate my eight month anniversary with my boyfriend. Upon arriving the woman at the front desk, Danielle, was SO sweet and accommodating. We were lucky we came on an off day, she offered us an upgrade to a casita (the best the hotel offers, it's basically an elegant apartment with a giant whirlpool tub, king bed and private patio!) for a *very* reasonable price. Once the room was ready we found the tub lined with rose petals, an added oomph to make our anniversary celebration even more special. Everyone at this hotel has really gone above and beyond. We booked a room at the last minute before leaving L.A. I was delighted to find a pet-free hotel. We had a great stay. Our room, an ordinary king, was spacious and nicely decorated. Bathroom larger than we expected and immaculately clean. The price was more than reasonable for the great location, two short blocks off Shoreline Drive, and the free, hot breakfast was very nice. Snacks were put out in the lobby each afternoon: one day homemade chocolate chip cookies, the next it was fun size candy bars and oranges. Friendly staff always made us feel welcome. Well now, seeing how I'm getting blamed for an idiotic design of a whirlpool bathtub, this should tell you more of how they treat their customers. 1. I can read very well, thank you. 2. Why would there be an electric control panel INSIDE the tub? 3. I did not fill water passed the maximum fill point. How do you know water did not get into this unsafe control panel from jet bubbles and moving around in the tub? Am I and my significant other supposed to sit quietly and not move an inch as to not create any chance of water entering this area? 4. Why were there no staff members there to fix it? read more

Sadly, I have to agree with Loren H. (posted 06/07/11). They should rename the place The Emerald City. The cottages are impossible to find--especially when you don't know your way and are given no directions. A yellow brick road would have been nice, or maybe even just a sign or two. After 10:00 pm you cannot reach the wizard, and even during normal business hours he (Paul) doesn't want to be bothered. I'm just glad I did not have to destroy any witches as there was no water in my room. It's a shame because it is a pretty place, but I would rather be in Kansas than at The Eagle Inn. read more

We have stayed in the Santa Cruz room twice and both stays have been beyond amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is just a short walk to the beach. This hotel is an absolute gem, in a charming and safe part of Santa Barbara. It is four blocks from the Funk Zone (terrific tasting rooms and restaurants), and two blocks away from the beach. We stayed in one of the charming casitas in the rear of the well cared for property-- the Santa Rosa room. The steep upstairs climb was a surprise to us, but no problem. I only mention this because if you book a casitas, please do a better job than I of noticing details, if you have any mobility issues. (The welcoming staff asked if we'd like assistance, so help IS available.). Having said that, our room was beautiful, big, comfortable, and clean. We had a delightful terrace, and a cozy fireplace. You could choose between dim, romantic light or brighter lights, clear enough to knit by., or reaThe bed was super comfortable; the linens were great. We stayed three days and each breakfast served had 3-4 great options. Quiche, eggs, wheat English muffins, yogurt parfait w/ granola, waffles, crepes, etc. all good. All fresh. Every single staff member we interacted with was thoughtful and helpful. You'd think I would have their names at the tip of my fingers as I type, but no. Sorry. The male breakfast server was appropriately and thoroughly attentive, as was a female manager who ran into us as we were going out, and troubleshooted a minor problem for us right on the spot. Everyone was kind and welcoming. We will stay here again, for certain. read more

His traditional values of not seeing her the night before meant the girls got wicked wasted and crashed the hotel. Every time I came inside the room I turned on the fireplace, just because I could. I had a terrible experience @ this facility. I too, had booked through Living Social and it looked very quaint. I even booked an upgrade because my husband and I were going to be celebrating our anniversary. When we go there and went upstairs, I found the room to be stifling and the bed felt like a trampoline...We realized our balcony actually looked out over the street and since Santa Barbara was getting ready to celebrate their big Solstice Parade/Event...it was quite noisy. When I called downstairs to ask about the bed and how to turn on the airconditioning, I was told that there was no airconditioning...which was something that was not mentioned to me when I initially booked...There are only 4 rooms that have AC...the young girl at the desk said she'd have to talk to her supervisor about possibly switching rooms for us and she'd call right back..which she never did...By the time I called back again, she said that there were no other rooms to move us to...She brought up a standing fan that we put in front of the door to the balcony but we had to leave that door open all night in order to get some ventilation and it was very loud til around 2:30am...Even the celing fan above us had the chain off so we couldn't adjust any speed for circulation. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and by morning my back was in spasm...What was so frustrating was the lack of concern or attention by the staff...They seemed to just shrug their shoulders and have an "oh well" attitude...And although they said something the next day about moving us to another hotel, I was at the end of my rope...We checked out early and I was filled with relief...I think if any attempt had been made by the staff to try to address any of our concerns, it would have gone a long way to instilling some confindence in us. But I would never stay there again and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more

The beloved and myself stayed at The Eagle Inn the weekend following Thanksgiving, 2012, for a brief celebratory stay, as "weekenders from LA." We had done some research on local lodging options, what to do, the perks of this or that venue, etc. Each year, we will make several mini-trips to "local" destinations; Sonoma and Mendocino, Napa, SF, South Bay, and other parts of the Central Coast. For this quick getaway, we wanted to stay in or near downtown SB, simply because we hadn't ever before. We decided on The Eagle Inn based on the location, the nature of the offerings, and because the price, albeit hefty, was still comparable with places that were less aesthetically pleasing. we stayed in the San Clemente room, which is a casita or cottage. The main building is a quaint Spanish style hotel and looks the part. This is a good-looking place and I think that is undoubtedly the draw for many, especially tourists of course. One can argue about the cultural significance of Santa Barbara in relation to other California coastal communities, but like Carmel, Malaga Cove, Bodega Bay, and others, there is a definitive architectural style to Santa Barbara which, while not all-together unique, gives it character and depth. We got into town at about 1:00 PM and called the place to inquire as to their preferable check-in time. They told us they'd call us when it was ready and they did. We checked in at about 4:00 PM, it taking roughly 20 minutes in total. The original hotel consists in the main building alone, and it's history stretches back into the early 20th century. The present-day owners, only within the past few years, purchased adjacent properties, creating what they call the casitas or cottages. These were actually small apartment buildings. They are like connected town-homes, essentially hotel suites, they give one the feeling of being at a Bed and Breakfast. The "B&B" experience is a desirable one, because it gives the guest a sense of privacy, community, and personal treatment. At The Eagle Inn, I would say that they emphasize the privacy and amenities, while attenuating the community aspect. The room was great. Upgraded in many ways. Our place was connected to the Santa Barbara cottage, which cost a bit more. Ours was at the edge of the property on the opposite side, away from the main office. Upon entering, there is a moderate-sized bathroom to the right (with two windows), and to the immediate left is the jacuzzi-style tub, a flat screen TV and DVD player (within a wall space), a dresser, a king-size bed, the requisite nightstands, and other pieces of functional furniture. On the other side of the bed is a fireplace - a double sided fireplace. The room next to this main room is smaller, and of course, features the fireplace, and can function in several ways. There's a leather couch in there, we didn't really use, as well as the ubiquitous table and chair with the hotel guide on top, and a phone. There's also a nice little counter in there with a coffee maker, a fridge underneath (for leftovers), a microwave, and miscellaneous utensils. There are ceiling fans in there, and the heater is overhead. Finally, a favorite feature for me, this room has big windows with shutters and a slender door opening up to a nice flagstone patio, 3/4ths concealed by tall hedges. The patio has a small table and chairs and the patio is directly adjacent to the Santa Barbara cottage patio. The patios face a residential street that is just above the street that Eagle is on. Our stay was brief, but the amenities and overall service would bring us back to Eagle. We borrowed a couple of DVDs from the front office at one point. We were told we could borrow bicycles but we did not take advantage. The room was quiet. It was very nice to wake up to room service and to be able to enjoy breakfast on the patio in the given robes. Some of the showers at Eagle have double heads, this has the traditional head as well as the top-down rain shower-head. This was very comforting. Some may not, but I very much enjoy the soft water conditioning as well. The food was tasty, considering that it was free, made fresh/on-demand, as well as sizable. Ours consisted of an English muffin, a Denver omelet, yogurt covered with granola, and orange juice. Tasty. The sense of "community" that I mentioned being integral to the B&B experience, is the only thing really lacking here. You can come and stay here, and have very little contact with hotel employees, fellow guests, etc. The Eagle Inn is a quaint, comfortable, beautiful hotel to stay in. It is close to State St. and a ton of other attractions or amenities the city offers. The management is very aware and willing to help. On each occasion, we found them to be overly enthusiastic and eager to guide us. The only surprise we were not thrilled to discover was, the toilet handle randomly broke during our stay! read more

We stayed here this past weekend while visiting from San Francisco. We had such a great time, despite the yucky weather. My favorite thing about this hotel is the beach cruisers they offer for you to use during your stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and charming. It is also in an excellent location. Close the the beach and close enough to state street. We stayed in a king room with jacuzzi and fireplace. It was very nice. They also have continental breakfast. Nothing fancy, but good enough for a quick bite before you start your day. The front desk staff was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again next time we are visiting SB! read more

I can not rave enough about this place. We stayed in the deluxe room with our small children and were very pleased with what a large room it was. It also had it's own full size kitchen and small dining table. The entire Inn had charming decor and was very clean. My friend booked the Santa Catalina room and it went beyond her expectations. Whirlpool tub with fresh rose petals around it, A basket with water, fruit and snacks. The perfect spot for those looking for a romantic night away. The Eagle inn also provides a delicious breakfast and the staff in the cozy breakfast area do everything they can to make sure you are satisfied. My son asked for packets to make hot chocolate and the lady said they do not have packets they make it. He got a hot chocolate in a mug topped with whip cream and tiny marshmallows. It is located in a very quite residential area and the inn itself was very quite too. A short walk to the Amtrak station, wharf, harbor and State Street. read more

The Eagle Inn - Hotels Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

I found this little gem on a discount hotel web site. When I called the Inn they gave me the same deal and upgraded us to cottage for just $30 more. It was worth it. The cottage has a fireplace and a huge spa tub. It also has a small kitchen with a fridge and microwave. The cupboards supplied us with plates, silver wear, wine glasses and corkscrew. The king size bed was super comfy. However the pillows weren't so great, but that's my only complaint. They have a nice full service breakfast in a cute little dining area. We used the complimentary bikes and had a great time riding the bike path along the beach. The people running the place were very friendly and helpful. Excellent rooms and great customer service, we celebrated our aniversery in Santa Barbara, and the inn was awesome, definitely recomended.

Nice room , comfortable bed , hot tab inside the room , good service , free breakfast !
