Just an unbelievably horrible experience! To start, a few things to look at: 1) the neighborhood. It's a little sketchy, so you might want to consider something a little closer to State. 2) the bikes are free, but are so badly maintained, that when I was there, only one men's size bike was working and had any tread on the tires... but I had to switch it out to a kids/women's before going one block because the chain broke. 3) little things like the clock not being set... those are the things that make you not trust their cleaning; if they can't even set the clock, which is something I can see, why would they be cleaning well for Covid, which I can't see? Anyway, we paid $229 per night base price for 2 nights for the King spa room upgrade, room #216, from a standard king which was $174 per night. Not only did the spa not work for either night, the tv remote didn't either. (Even though I reported both issues and was told they were resolved the next day so moving rooms would not be necessary.) I did not get a chance to test the spa on the second night until later that night... too late to make a room move, but the remote still would not work for the tv. (You can't run the jets without water in the tub so it can't be tested until you run a tub of water.) I spent all the first night going back and forth with Ryan on the tv remote trying different batteries, restarting the box, and trading out rfi cables... NOT my job! Again, I was told it was fixed but the Power button still didn't work, even when I left the room for the last time. (manager admits it didn't work even when accusing me of lying about it.) And no matter what you do, the spa power button will stick, either in the Off or On position, so using it is impossible. After complaining, the manager says they will give me $100 gift certificate for a future stay... are you f-ing kidding me right now?!?! I answered the email saying it wasn't useful to me... I have no idea when or if I might ever even come back to SB. Why would that be an acceptable resolution? I get an email from Paul, the manager/owner saying that they saw the TV on in my room the first night... are you @%#$ing serious right now? First of all, they're admitting spying into my hotel room, and now they're accusing me of... what? I rigged up their broken ass tv to run with my Roku because their tv wouldn't work, and he's trying to use that as an excuse to say his crappy tv worked and that I didn't have a justified problem!?!?!? I told him that I paid $55 night plus tax and other fees for 2 nights and I would like to get that refunded and that was his answer. The fact that I booked it through a third party is not relevent. I purchased the use of the room for a specific purpose of using the things in it that were presented as being in working condition and they were not. The fault of those things not working was Paul's... not the booking company's and no one elses. I actually think $55 + tax x 2 is extremely understanding and reasonable... I think most businesses would have done more than that and without my needing to go back and forth about it to begin with. (And I'm STILL losing vacation time with my wife even now while writing this... again!) Needless to say, not only will I not be returning to the Eagle Inn, I plan to dispute the charge on my credit card and go to court if necessary to get my refund. This manager's response is the exact slum lord answer that people had to put up with in the pre-Yelp world to being screwed over. Color me Floored! read more

What a fantastic hotel. We felt like our room, the facility, the environs, interior and exterior, were all so clean and well kept. The breakfast menu was always more than enough, and the access to bikes was such a hoot, we just loved riding around town and along the water. What a refreshing break from our stay at home life we've been plugging away at this year. I'm so grateful for our time here. It is walkable or bike rideable to all things interesting and fun. This place is amazing! I definitely think it's a hidden gem! From the moment I called to booked a reservation, with Paul to the moment we were greeted by Katie. Paul was so helpful to answer my questions and was so quick to book my reservation last minute. I didnt feel like just another person booking for just any hotel. It felt like a very friendly, inviting, and honest booking. Katie was so helpful reassuring us we had a good room. The service was just the best we have ever had. The room: Just wow, we had the king deluxe room with a whirlpool tub and fireplace. I mean the cleanliness and detail of every corner of the room is just wow. It includes mini fridge, microwave(you dont find these anymore), bathbomb, cable tv, windows with shutters and just feels like I'm spoiled lol I am staying here again 100% on our next trip to Santa Barbara! read more

The noisiest room I've ever stayed at - no exaggeration. Slamming fire doors, creaky stomping above, can hear other guests snoring next door. The building is old (and noisy) but not in a quaint way like the Upham also in Santa Barbara. Although it's billed as a bed-and-breakfast it really just feels like an old motel - no real public spaces to relax even if there was no COVID pandemic. Stayed in room 102 for $270 on a Saturday night. Add tax and you're over $300. When you consider that price for rooms you can book in cities such as New York or Los Angeles you will be greatly disappointed. There is no value here and you will leave feeling ripped off. This room should be $195 tops for what it is. There are far better options for a nice romantic SB get away - but not here. read more

My Aunt and I stayed here for a few nights in December. The location is GREAT being very close to State St., pier, zoo etc.. The staff was AMAZING!! The girls who work in the front were extremely helpful, even offering us local family owned options for dining. The chef, Jenny does an amazing job with feeding 50+ people a day. She was very friendly, and she's an amazing local chef. Parking is kind of crummy, but we ended up always getting a spot. Parking on the street is allowed on weekends, with a permit (which the inn does not provide) The inn offers free bike rental! How great is that!! We stayed here for our anniversary. What a nice greeting they gave us upon arrival. I was very impressed with the staff. I used a third-party to book the room and that company made a mistake. Within five minutes I received a call from Peter trying to make sure I understood what was happening. I really appreciate that! Because of what happened with my booking, we had to switch rooms after the first night. They made that a very easy transition. Our room the second night had a balcony and a Jacuzzi tub. It was very nice. I think they felt rushed trying to get us in there though because the bathroom had a lot of hair on the floor. I appreciate a clean room and this one definitely could have been cleaner. The bed and the bathtub were spotless and that's the most important part. The concierge was helpful with recommendations. We had a wonderful dinner for our anniversary. I actually was asking him questions about tipping later and mentioned what I tipped him and housekeeping, and he said he didn't get his tip. I found that odd since I handed it to him directly myself. Guessing he didn't remember who I was. I liked the location, the decorations were beautiful. What a gem. I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful Inn. My boyfriend and I are locals and stayed here last night due to the evacuation. Start to finish we had an amazing experience. The customer service was fantastic, thank you to Peter. Our room was upgraded free of charge due to the circumstances and we got to enjoy the in room hot tub, kitchenette and fire place. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast which was a full sit down with menu of items. We got the feta scramble. And to top it off, the hotel was a walk to the beach in the morning. It's 7:05am and I'm writing this review as I lay awake during my first and last stay at The Eagle Inn. I can hear every creak in the building, especially our upstairs neighbors who are early risers. I booked this hotel due to the many 5 star reviews so felt it was my duty to share my far less positive experience to warn future travelers. First off, I booked this hotel through Hotel Tonight, which showed a deal for $279/night. However it wouldn't let me book Friday-Sunday, only Friday night. I called the hotel to see what was up and the lady on the phone was very short with me and kept saying they only have a Casita available for $500+ a night. I explained what the app was showing and she didn't budge. So, I was resolved to look elsewhere. The next morning, as I was about to book somewhere else, the app changed and I could book 2 nights again for $275/night. I was stoked! By this point, I had researched a ton of hotels in the area, and the reviews all led me to believe that The Eagle Inn was the perfect place for a romantic getaway. I hurried and booked it for the weekend. When we arrived, the welcome staff was a blonde, punk rocker looking young man with black painted nails who was kind but rather aloof and introverted. He supplied us with the essential information but didn't seem to want to talk more than what was absolutely necessary. It was a mismatch for the quality of hotel I believed to be staying in and not the best first impression. Alarm bells were already going off . When we opened the door to our room (102), my heart sank. It was so small! The smallest room I've ever stayed in and certainly at this price point. It was a big uh-oh regret moment where I could feel that they gave us the worst room they had available since we booked through the app. *SIDE NOTE- I really don't understand this mentality- giving guests the worst room you have available due to booking at a discounted rate (it was only $20 off from what I gathered later). You're basically encouraging them to not return. This is just bad business practice. And yes, they had a lot of vacancy as the staff suggested when asking about bikes and parking availability. Also their vacancy sign was lit up. It just feels rude and ungrateful. As others have said, it is extremely noisy and walls are very thin. We had the bonus of being next to the street, next to the stairs, and right next to the kitchen and breakfast area. I slept so poorly all weekend. The bed didn't help. It sank in the middle which kept me tossing and turning all night. Some other grumbles were they never cleaned our room after the first night despite being out most of the day. I chalked it up to covid, but wish I'd been warned. Cookies and strawberries were offered upon arrival, but none thereafter and certainly never smelled any cooking all afternoon as other reviews mentioned. No late night snacks offered. And the robes- actually gave me quite the tickle. I took pictures of my 6'2 husband in one but can't post them because you'd see more than you'd like . They were so short they didn't even cover his butt! I'm an extra small and they barely fit me. One of the other guests came to breakfast in his and it was floor length. Great, one more way we feel like we got the short end of the stick. Quite literally. ‍ One more thing about breakfast... I asked about where we were allowed to eat ours since our room was so small and there was only one chair. The rocker guy at check in said to just show up and order on the patio and threw away our delivery order form. When we did as he said, the chef lady seemed very confused and annoyed. It wasn't our fault that he screwed things up, but she made us feel like it was. We decided to not order breakfast the second day just to avoid her altogether. It's included and built into the price, so that is saying something. No one asked us for our breakfast orders either. Like everything else, you have to ask to get anything at this hotel. The won't offer it. All in all, I won't be returning and won't be recommending it to others. I hate to blame the staff because their training comes from management who is the real one to blame here. They did the bare minimum and weren't super helpful or accommodating, except for the blonde woman who, after asking of course, led us to a great restaurant Saturday night. The whole hotel has an antique vibe that sure isn't charming when it's 6:30am and you're trying to sleep. read more

What a delight! My wife and I recently had the opportunity to do a Santa Barbara Staycation and selected the Eagle Inn this time. The room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The entire hotel was well appointed and very clean (huge for my wife!) This was our first time here and We had an excellent time at the Eagle Inn from check in to check out. Hotel has great Santa Barbara decor and feel with everything in great shape. Excellent location just a couple minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes to State St and about 7-10 minutes to Funk Zone. Easy to walk to everything. Felt like they thought of extras and took the time to make it a great experience. Not noisy, the Casita we stayed in was super spacious. Never an issue with their FREE parking. Free breakfast was delivered to our room each morning and each meal was well done. We have stayed at many hotels in the area and this one is at the top of the list. Great price. The Weatherman and I wanted a to get away for nice Labor Day staycation so we decided to visit Santa Barbara. I originally wanted an AirBNB but after seeing how close this location was too EVERYTHING!! We decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The staff checked in via text the day we were due to arrive asking if we wanted to check in early and if so they provided instructions. The attentiveness of the staff didn't stop there, the checked in with us often and even remembered our names. I loved that this place also offered free bikes that we were able to check out every day to explore the area. This is a bed and breakfast and you are given the choice to have breakfast out on the terrace or have it delivered to your room at the time you requested. The food was great and it definitely saved on $$. The inn is about a 5 min walk to the beach and about 10-15 min walk to the downtown area where all the fun was located. There's also homemade cookies available every evening, that was a nice touch. This is my place from now on!! I'll always stay here and I have recommended to several of my friends already. We visited for our wedding anniversary and they upgraded us from a premium detached casita to the even more premium Santa Rosa Casita. The room was gorgeous and in great shape, but with a few hiccups (noisy jacuzzi tub, window that couldn't close because the bed blocked it, and painters outside making noise check-in day and check-out morning). I'd still recommend it, as Peter at the front desk really made us feel welcome at check in and after we notified him of the issues, and keep in mind that they had no issues applying an old Groupon to our bill that while still valid, the owner accepted it without any balking. The location is great, only a couple of small blocks to the beach and only about a half mile walk onto State Street. Will definitely return, but we'll make sure to check to see if they're in the middle of renovations next time. read more

The Eagle Inn was perfect! Beautiful, quiet location. We stayed in one of their charming casitas, it was so wonderful! The casitas were spacious and had breathtaking views, in room hot tub, and comfortable beds. The casitas also had separate, private parking which was great! The rest of our family stayed in other casitas and rooms during the weekend stay to celebrate our wedding which they all raved about as well. The Eagle Inn exceeded our expectations and the staff were exceptional! It was so nice to relax and eat their complimentary breakfast and enjoy the sun on their patio. We had a really great stay overall at The Eagle Inn. We loved the location (very easy to walk to the beach and get to the main shopping area. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful with all of our requests. The kitchen staff even remembered my two year old's likes and dislikes at breakfast! We arrived and realized that our room didn't have the tub that we requested at check in, but the front desk employee quickly changed our room and put us in the back building (which was actually better for us - considering the kiddo - a bit more isolated) and apologized for the confusion. We enjoyed our private patio feature and he large bathroom. I also appreciated the amenities provided in our room. Make-up remover was a nice thing to have provided in the room (though they stopped replacing it half way through our stay) and we also enjoyed the option of being able to bike places (as the hotel provided bike rentals). My only complaint about the amenities is that they seemed to stop replenishing things towards the end of our stay (didn't replace shower caps, make-up remover, soap or tissues in the bathroom the last two days). I thought the provided breakfast was a a pretty good quality of food and we never had a problem getting seated or asking for substitutions to our dishes (though we do not have any allergies) and everyone was friendly and helpful. This is the second time we have stayed here. We park our car easily on site and walk everywhere! The front desk staff is very responsive and helpful. They text too which makes it really easy to communicate. The room we stayed in was San Nicolas. I enjoyed the big jet tub and fireplace. It's quiet and romantic, a perfect couple's weekend getaway. They have a fancy coffee machine in the breakfast area which I enjoyed daily. They also had a cold water dispenser to refill our water bottles. We walked to the wharf, had breakfast overlooking the beach, walked state street filled with restaurants, and ended our weekend with the local art walk on Sunday and brought home some beautiful paintings and gifts for the kids! read more

This is our 3rd visit to SB, and our 3rd B&B we stayed on West Beach. This Inn is 2 blocks from West Beach and easily walkable to Sterns Wharf and local eateries. Kind of far from State, but a couple mins drive if you have a car. We weren't sure what to expect, but I really wanted to book something special for our 1 year wedding anniversary. When I saw that this Inn was in the location we were looking for with a King bed, fireplace and in room spa, I just had to book it. The Yelp reviews also helped in my decision, and once booked, we couldn't wait for our stay (3 days, 2 nights). We arrived late on check in, so when we entered the Inn, the staff gave us our room key and mentioned to come back in the morning to officially check in so that we can rest and put our bags in the room. When we presented to our room (Room 106), first floor, we entered a beautifully decorated and pretty modern looking suite. It's actually the nicest room we've ever stayed in when visiting Santa Barbara. The king bed was super comfy, sheets were so soft and pillows were ample. The fireplace emitted heat and there's also a ceiling fan, A/C and heater as well. The 2 person in room spa was big, clean and quiet (much appreciated!). The bathroom had 1 sink and a large shower with 2 shower heads that can easily fit 2 people. Lots of amenities were provided which I really appreciated because I usually request more shampoo and conditioner since I have long hair. There was enough for our room for 2 nights. The room was also equipped with a microwave and a kurig coffee maker with lots of options (tea, coffee and decaf with creamer / sugar). The closet even had robes (which we didn't use), but available to wear. There is complimentary hot breakfast (made to order) until 10am. You go to the dining area which is a sit down, and the staff comes out to take your order. There are usually 2-3 simple options, such as eggs and bagel or yogurt with fruit and granola, but it's free and filling. There is also coffee/tea available in the lobby and cookies at night (yum!). We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was facing the parking lot so we heard the cars come and go, but overall it was pretty quiet at night. We heard footsteps above us and people talking in the hallway, but I had earplugs that I sleep with, so I suggest you bring yours! Cute homey B&B and we look forward to staying at this quaint and comfortable Inn again. They have their own parking lot, and if full, you may park on the street. read more

My husband and I stayed here about 6 years ago the first time in the Delux Queen room with the large patio and loved it! We decided to come back for our birthday this year and booked the same room. When we checked in, the friendly receptionist said they'd given us the Santa Rosa Casita instead, as it was nicer and more private. He was right! It was very much like a little cabin/cottage on the 2nd floor, separate from the main building. It has a gas fireplace, king bed, jacuzzi tub and small kitchen with mini fridge, sink and microwave. Very cozy and private. We really enjoyed the room. The bed was SUPER comfortable! I loved the sheets so much I looked for the tag to find out the brand and decided to buy the same kind for our bed at home. They bring breakfast to your door if you want and it was sooo good! The place is clean and I felt safe as they were following all COVID precautions. If you're in Santa Barbara definitely give this place a try! read more

We absolutely loved it! I looked for days and booked within 4 days of our stay. Based on location, accommodations and price this was the best choice! A few blocks from the beach, the rooms were unique and special (my daughter who was also in town booked the Casita next to ours the day we checked in). From check-in to check-out and every minute in between, the staff was splendid. When we checked in, I asked the desk clerk for a cart so I could get my bags out of the car myself. She brought out a cart and went with us to the car, quickly took our bags and before I could say anything she had taken our bags inside and up to the second floor (where our room was). For the most part the neighborhood was quiet during our stay. Kitchen staff was friendly, and the breakfast was simple but delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and prepped by a skilled cook. [COVID NOTE: we had the choice of eating breakfast in our room or requesting to sit outdoors on the patio. We opted for the patio.] The service was friendly and efficient. Located in a good neighborhood with other structures that were converted to hotels, the location is convenient to everything. The Eagle Inn is located two blocks from the beach and it is a good walk (or short drive) to State Street. The Eagle Inn was PERFECT for our visit to Santa Barbara. The BEST staff, friendly and attentive. The beds are the most comfortable on the planet (we could have slept all day!) The Eagle Inn does a breakfast cooked to order with adorable tables on the patio and the Inn is the perfect location to walk to the beach, pier, funk zone, and the restaurants. The Eagle Inn exceeded my expectations by miles. The service was so kind from both Peter and the girl who helped us the next morning. The room was clean and quiet and cozy, perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. Highlights were the brand new fire pit which we enjoyed while eating some complimentary chocolate as well as the free bike rentals (with helmets too!). Breakfast was delicious and customizable- I got two eggs and the veggie sautee. I can't wait to come back and enjoy this delightful place again. read more
