Fantastic escape room establishment. They were able to accommodate our large group with no problems. Scott, the owner was very receptive and quick to respond to last minute accomodations, even grabbing an extra co-host to help run the extra rooms we were playing. The rooms themselves are well designed and not just your standard lock and key set pieces; some of the way they are set are very cool and uses a lot of neat tech to progress the puzzles. There's a good mix of linear and nonlinear puzzles that were challenging but solvable for novices and veterens alike. I would highly recommend booking the rooms! My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day, and we really appreciated the ability to book for 2 people! The room was genuinely so fun and was one of the best escape rooms I've ever done (and I've done at least 10!). The puzzles were well constructed and the rooms were decorated beautifully! I really enjoyed how the theme of the puzzle even extended out of the escape room itself (the office where you sign your waivers/get the story introduced to you was decorated like a room in the story). We did "The Disappearance at Fogmore Manor", and if we're ever back in San Diego we'd love to do the sequel to this story. I cannot emphasize how great this experience was! read more

We decided to hit up an escape room for my niece's spring break. We booked 'Disappearance at Fogmore Manor.' We have done a handful of escape rooms at different spots and this one definitely was very different than the rest. Some of the steps were challenging to complete so if you waste too much time on those you will have no real chance of getting out. The puzzles are very unique. I enjoyed how thought out this escape room was and I will be coming back to try the other 2 rooms. (The Bayou and London Fog) I would say we probably needed another hour to get out! HA! read more

Our group has done the Disappearance at Fogmore Manor and the Bayou rooms and absolutely loved both - especially the immersive setting and tech-forward, creative puzzles of the bayou. We loved the lore and absolutely loved the videos that played ahead of each room - it really set the context and the mood of each room. Everything is so thought out and you can tell the owner is a passionate puzzle master and storyteller. The puzzles are unlike any that we've tried in other rooms and really encourages you to think outside the box. Can't recommend these rooms enough. They have a lot of heart and you can tell they were made with a lot of love. There were some technical difficulties with some of the puzzles but our very kind guide, Brian, was really helpful walking us through clues manually if needed. Thank you, Brian! The Entrapment is located off a minor street from Convoy from what seemingly is surrounded by the backlot of a car dealership and auto repair shops. The entrance gave off an eerie feeling, as you walk in, the escape room shares the building with a small dealership. At the right, you are greeted with a dark hallway with multiple doors on the sides and an old painting at the end to where the restrooms are located. At the left is where the Entrapment is situated. As a group of 4, with 1 first timer we decided to do the Bayou: Legend of the Midnight Raven; the gamemaster, Scott, was welcoming and explain the instructions thoroughly at the briefing room. There is a long backstory that he shows on a television monitor before embarking into the Bayou. Puzzles were linear at the beginning and later became non-linear. With 90 minutes to escape, it proves that the escape room has a ton of twists and turns to solve. At the end, we escaped with a minute to spare. Now, let's talk about the tech used to create the puzzles. The gamemaster who apparently was a part of the Netflix series, Squid Games, show his creativity by presenting unique puzzles that are not offer at other escape rooms. With its uniqueness, escapees like my group, will have to think outside the box. This is not the typical find a combination lock and move on to the next combination lock. I highly recommend the Entrapment because of the unique experience it has to offer. read more

This was my escape room, and went in just as a duo, so we may have been doomed from the start . Did we finish? Absolutely not...but it was still a fun experience. The gentleman that runs it was friendly and made everything clear. The puzzles for me at least felt challenging, and you definitely need to make sure not to skim on any of the fine print. We got a few hints a long the way when he could see we were struggling a bit. At the end, he showed us how it would all have gone down if we finished and woooo. Would have been tricky. We had a wonderful experience as a family doing the Fogmore Manor room! The puzzles are so varied and clever and the experience is very immersive with sound effects and atmosphere. Hands down my favorite escape room company. I have played Fogmore Manor, The Bayou, Bloodmore Manor, and London Fog. All of the rooms have exceeded my expectations and set the bar high for escape rooms. As one man show, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the story, the puzzles and production of the room. I'm very bummed to have missed out on the Christmas event, but looking forward to any rooms that is put on my entrapment in the future! read more

This place is a blast! My college club came here a little while back since it could accommodate our party size of 8. We were warned we might have too many hands on deck (room is typically 2-6 people I believe) but as a bunch of escaping noobs, we definitely needed every last brain, lol. Despite the unassuming building exterior, the room (we did the Fogmore) is really thoughtfully designed with a lot of cool tech! We kind of needed a lot of hints as a bunch of clueless bozos, but that didn't detract from the experience. The room does include a lot of reading though, which you might want to keep in mind. Also, a huge thanks for letting us stick around and finish the room--even if we were 20 minutes overtime! Hope we can come back for another club outing sometime! :) read more

The novelty of the puzzles at this Escape room always impressed me. The owner/creator does some really neat mechanical puzzles and it always feels new and exciting. Make sure you bring your smartest friends though, this place is not easy but that just makes it more rewarding when you do well. Entrapment was great. There were 7 in our group and did the London Fog room. When we first arrived, we were skeptical since the outside building is dark and almost no signage. The reception area was very dank too. It looks like it either used to be a massage place or shares space with the other business. Then we were taken to a small waiting room to watch an intro video, given some rules and basic info. We were then taken to the London Fog area and then things got much better. That area was really cool and very creatively thought out. It was very challenging and we had to organize our group to best gather information since there are many different problems to solve. We didn't make it out in the allotted time, but got close. Again, the London Fog area was fun and we would go again to do the other rooms. read more

We read somewhere that the Entrapment (Bayou Room) was a Top 5 Escape Room in San Diego so we decided to give it a try. We usually have 5 in our group but were missing our 5th this night. We were a tad skeptical upon arrival as their location shares a main entrance way with a car sales & sketchy massage parlor. It also had a strong smell of pets or the bad smell of a public bathroom. Then their guest waiting room was nothing to brag about when compared to the 20+ other escape rooms we've visited... That's where the negative observations stop. Upon entering The Bayou room, it was well designed/decorated, very interactive, and had a lot of variety involved to keep you interested the entire time! It wasn't a typical escape room where you have to open 20 locks to complete the game. Our game master had to inform us we were doing the right thing but gave hints if say something we're doing wasn't lining up quite right to obtain the desired result but this didn't detract from the overall experience. Teamwork is definitely needed as there's lots to do in there! In the end, it turned out to be a very fun yet challenging experience. Give The Bayou room a try if you want something a little different than you're accustomed to! You won't be disappointed. read more

We have done a number of escape rooms and definitely love them. We tried both the Bayou and Bloodmoor manor this last week and liked them both. The puzzles were complex and challenging but were for the most part understandable. I personally thought that the Bloodmoor manor was more fun but my friend enjoyed the Bayou more. A note for the Bayou room, you may want more people since it seems like there are a lot of activities you can do in parallel. What sets this company apart from some of the other rooms is the atmosphere of each room is really cool. The general feel and set design was great and added to the experience. read more

Played Fogmore Manor and The Bayou: We went into these rooms with really high expectations given that both rooms were on top 10 escape room lists. While the rooms aren't bad, they don't live up to the hype. Here's the pros and cons: Pros: Fun storyline Decent decor (Fogmore) Great ambiance (Bayou) Puzzles were unique but there was a lot of reading involved. Cons: Fogmore is totally linear. So a bigger group will have people with nothing to do. Bayou's front half is linear so same problem. Ridiculously long intro videos!!!! Bayou's is over 8 minutes long and gives you the entire history of the New Orleans swamps!!! Some of the tech is finicky. Our gamemaster had to let us know a couple times that the puzzle was correct but the box/lid/drawer didn't pop open. Worst lobby I have ever been in (and we've done over 60 rooms). The place smells like a cat litter box and you have to walk past this really icky massage place. Bathrooms were also really gross and smelled even worse! In the end, the rooms were decent and we did enjoy ourselves. However it's time to rewrite that top ten list. read more

This is one of the BEST escape rooms I have ever done! My friends and I did all three in one day (+ you get a good deal if you do this) and they just got better and better! We had 5 people and it was a perfect amount. Awesome and unique puzzles w lots of fun tech! The guy who runs it is kind and clearly loves what he does. He designed the rooms himself! (be warned tho - it looks run down from the outside and the building it's in doesn't seem like much... but once you get into the room it's like a different world!!) I so highly recommend! My boyfriend and I booked the Disappearance at Fogmore Mansion last minute so we could attempt the room with just the two of us. We've done over 20 escape rooms and have successfully escaped almost all of them. Since it was just two of us, our game master asked if we'd like some helpful nudges in the right direction to help us get through the game, which we gladly agreed to. I really wanted to like this escape room, but from the beginning this experience ended up being one of the most frustrating escape games we've ever played. We began our game in basically pitch blackness, unsure what we were supposed to do. We almost pulled our phones out to use as flashlights until the game master came back in because he had forgotten to light the candles that would allow for any visibility. Not off to a great start. The puzzles in this room were different than anything we've ever seen before, mostly because they required a lot of reading that takes up much of the time. Some of the technology involved in some of the puzzles was pretty cool, however, we got stuck on one of the puzzles for the better part of 20 minutes to the point where we were getting frustrated both with each other and the room. The game master eventually asked if we wanted help, which we said yes. It didn't seem like the game master had been watching our game at all and basically lead us back to part of the puzzle we had already solved, which took us back probably another 5-10 minutes. The hints the game master gave weren't really hints at all, basically telling us to reread things we had already read and solved. Eventually we ended up solving the puzzle on our own and our time was up shortly after beginning the next puzzle. In our prior experience, it is the game master's job to provide useful clues as to what you are doing incorrectly on a puzzle to prevent feelings of frustration to help you get through the room. This was not the case here and would benefit from generating explicit clues for each puzzle where people typically get tripped up to offer more help other than "reread the riddle". After failing to escape we were told that we could get a discount to come back and try the room again after only completing ~65% of the room, which we did originally think about doing. However, I don't think I would pay more to repeat this experience. While the puzzles were interesting and different from other escape rooms in the area, the experience as a whole was incredibly frustrating due to the amount of reading and lack of direction we received from the game master and as a result we were underwhelmed. Maybe it was because we booked last minute and the game master may have not been ready for us but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this room with so many other quality escape games in the area. read more

The Disappearance at Fogmore Manor was top notch, fun, & super exciting! The entrance is difficult to spot. The location is in what looks like a car dealership. The escape room shares the same building at a massage place. Scott is the brains of The Entrapment & wow, he has done an amazing job! Our group of 6 loved every part of the room! Before the room, we watched a short video giving us an introduction to the room. Then, we are given 60 minutes to escape! The room is linear which means that as a group, you have to solve each puzzle in order in order to progress. The puzzles were thrilling & many were unique & that says a lot for our group because we have done quite a few. We got out with 5 minutes to spare & without using any hints! There is some crawling involved. read more

This is a great escape game! We will be back to try their new one once they complete building it! My husband and I have done a handful of escape games and this was the first one we (and our friends) did not finish! It was pretty difficult. The puzzles were moderate-level but the fact that it was linear (you do one puzzle at a time), really made it hard to finish. People who finish on time should consider themselves pros! The technology was fantastic- other escape games usually are just locks and keys, this particular escape game uses some cool technology to open things. I highly recommend! Will the entrance room where the introduction video is played would be cool and more immersive if it had wood paneling (... and the Fogmore room too, now that I think of it), the puzzles, while linear, were fun and just right in difficulty. There's some really cool tech aspects to the room I enjoyed a lot and the items and decor were fantastic. It's in an office park, but if you can get past that it's a five star room and you should do it. I did this as part of the midweek two's, slightly discounted and for two people, and I think it's cool they do that. The first room is doable for two people if you're somewhat experienced, but we were warned the later room really might need more than two to finish. I'll probably try it anyway. read more

The Entrapment has the best escape rooms in San Diego, hands down. Not only are the rooms exquisitely decorated, but the puzzles are a fantastic mix of high and low tech. Challenging, but not frustratingly difficult. All 3 rooms have an overarching story that relate them to one another, and that attention to detail makes it more enjoyable to play, and also highlights how much thought, care, and dedication the creators put into the design. I've been to quite a few escape rooms and this one is probably the best. They put a lot of effort into the puzzles to make them unique and creative rather than just a list of locks and numbers. The lobby looks a little crusty but once you go inside the rooms they have excellent decorations and theming. I've done the first two rooms in the saga and am excited to try the third. read more

This is a creative room with good use of props and decor. The lighting and sound effects are great! The backstory is a bit long and involved, however the intro is done in a creative way. I was a little confused about how some of the puzzles fit the story, while others were clever, beautifully integrated and very immersive. There was a bit too much repetition among the tasks for my liking, though. We also struggled with some of the tech aspects of the room. The game master wasn't able to communicate with us through an intercom, so he popped his head in which greatly took away from the immersion. Also part of the challenge of our experience was working with someone we didn't know, but this room is challenging enough without that extra layer. (I know we should've bought out all tickets for our time slot since we always prefer to play alone.) The owner is a passionate puzzle guy! Overall it's a good game. I recommend getting a group of friends together and playing. read more

This was my 49th escape room experience. I have done the good, the bad, and the terrible. And also the amazing. Disappearance at Fogmore Manor does a great job integrating story, puzzle variation, "ah-hah" moments, and some very cool reveals. Unlike every other room I've done, Fogmore Manor does not start with a scramble to find everything you can in the room. You have a very clear direction from the start and there was no reason to get sidetracked because the puzzles led you in a very linear path. The puzzles were very clever. The decor was great. I've done over 60 rooms and this was a great room! We played the Bloodmore Manor Halloween Room and it was amazing, great puzzles with some things I've never seen before! And definitely some scary elements but nothing that people who don't like scary rooms couldn't handle. A couple puzzles were a bit of a stretch but hints are unlimited and our game master was very kind and helped us escape without giving us the actual answer. We've done a lot of room escape and this is by far the most unique room escape. I thought it'll be a bit easier for three people since it's suppose to be a linear designed room. However, we were wrong. We got stuck often and having extra eyes and brains would have definitely helped. Pros- -Not your typical room escape -Interesting puzzles Cons- -Hard to keep track of how much time has past. The room we were in, there were no actual clock counting down. Instead there's a clock that chimes in 15 minutes intervals. -Some of the puzzles/clues were a bit of a stretch The puzzles were creative but we got stuck on a few and wasted a lot of time trying to figure something out -We felt rushed in the end Our time was up but the guy let us continue to try to escape as he set up for the next group. When we finished the last clue he didn't offer to take our picture or anything. Just showed us the door and went back to setting up the room. The Entrapment is on my top three as far as escape companies in San Diego goes! The storyline is incredibly well thought out. Both rooms have a continuous story and it is well woven throughout the rooms. Fogmore Manor is their original room and it was very tech-heavy and incredibly fun. I will say there was quite a bit of reading involved as a heads up. We did this room with 7 people and made it out! From what I remember, it was pretty involved and had a lot going on so I would recommend at least 4-5 players. We played their new room The Bayou and it was definitely on a new level of great. We did the room with 4 and it definitely kept us on our toes. The puzzles were incredibly creative and brilliant. I also stress the importance of asking players who have done multiple rooms or really reading reviews and taking them seriously when people ask for recommendations. There are so many rooms in San Diego...some might not be for your group, and some are just plain awful. Having done over 35+ rooms, I would say my top three are The Entrapment, The Unlockables, and Boss-Play. These rooms set the bar incredibly high. If you've never done a room or had any experience with one, maybe try a groupon room just to be entertained and get your feet wet. Then when you're ready to get serious and give your mind a workout, I highly recommend this company! =) read more
