This past Saturday was the second time we've been to this location and both times were amazing! The first room we tried was the Scooby-Doo room. The Scooby-Doo room is so immersive it's almost as if you've walked into the cartoon itself and are solving a puzzle with hijinks along the way. The colors are so vibrant and it was a relatively easy puzzle to solve with a good storyline to guide you along the way. The clues made sense and helped move us along, section by section. The workers are so helpful explaining the rules and guiding you with tips if you ever were stuck. Which we needed a few times. This last Saturday we were celebrating my son's 15 Birthday and he chose Budapest Express. This one was a bit harder, the clues didn't guide you as much as the scooby Doo room, and they were less easy to understand. We wound up using hints a bit more for this one. All in all, it was still a lot of fun and the workers were really kind, helpful, and gave us really good feedback along the way that helped us "escape" with 16 seconds left. Are the rooms worthy of repeating? I would do the Scooby-Doo one again, but probably not the Budapest Express. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try the rest though!

Had a great time at the Mansion Murder. It was legit a hard puzzle -- if you enjoy a challenge, you'll love this one -- recommended!

I came here on vacation with some friends and we were looking for something fun to do! After researching the cheapest place to go (we are all new college graduates haha), Escapology was the winner! I appreciated that the more people you had in your group, the cheaper the room was to book. We had 6 people, which was only $30 per person. The room we booked was the "Lost City" and it was rated an 8.5/10 difficulty. It is pretty ironic because I had made a joke to our game master and said that we weren't going to ask for any clues. To my surprise, we actually didn't! We finished the escape room without any hints and 15 minutes before time ran out. None of my group members are avid escape room goes, as I mentioned we are fresh out of college so clearly our degrees paid off! If you are an avid escape room lover, maybe this isn't the spot for you? Either way it was fun and the best part was the location! Belmont Park is a small theme park with food, rides, and the beach! So many activities to look forward to after you finish your escape room!! There was also a promo happening for 20% off games in February, if you go to Belmont Park you can find the coupon cards there!

Escapology is everything you want from a puzzle room/escape room establishment. They have a healthy selection of great themed rooms, including Scooby Doo, which we happened to pick. We had the first appointment of the day in the Scooby Doo room. Jacob was the gentleman responsible for taking care of us. He was incredibly nice, and considerate. He explained everything simply, and gave a concise run down of the rules, the process, how to communicate and ask for help if needed. The Scooby Doo room is absolutely fantastic, phenomenal, practically perfect. I will not list anything about the room, as I do not want to the spoil the experience for any future guests. I can say the decor, plot, puzzles, and everything inside is amazing, just mind-blowing. They do absolute justice to mystery inc., and the Scooby Doo gang. The price is tiered to how many people are participating in the time slot. It was $60 per person for two people. And it was worth absolutely every penny. Hats off and a big thank you to Jacob, and Escapology for a wonderful and magnificent experience! I cannot say enough good things!

Nestled in beautiful Belmont Park, Mission Beach, Escapology San Diego is an amazing collection of escape rooms for San Diego natives and tourists alike. I had the chance to bring my family and a few friends to try to escape their Antidote Room back in 2022, and this challenging room did not disappoint! Our youngest escape artist was 9, and she did great at solving a lot of the clues in this room.

We had a great time...Nychelle was a great guide! Our kids (9yo and 11yo) were engaged, excited, and the right amount of scared the whole time. Nychelle gave us the right amount of guidance without spoiling the fun. We'll be back!

I had a fun experience at escapology! I have done a few escape rooms through escapology with my family and this time came with my roommates from college! We did the Lost City room and escaped. Our host was also very friendly. I recommend for beginners/intermediate levels!

Great escape room and friendly staff. Located next to the beach at Belmont Park. Different pricing based on group size.

    Ask the Community - Escapology

What is the allowed party size for kids 5-9 years old? Are large groups split up?

Groups larger than 8 people would need to be split into multiple themes.

Can kids participate? Any recommendations for a 10 year old group?

Yes! All of our rooms are kid friendly, meaning, no scary or inappropriate themes. I would recommend the Scooby-Doo room or our Antidote room for a group of 10 year olds.

    Can teens go unchaperoned?

Children 12 years or younger do require adult supervision. 13 years to 17 years we do suggest it, but is not a requirement.

I'm planning a trip to SD with my dog and boyfriend and was looking for places that allowed dogs and this popped up. How does that work? Can our dog come into the room with us or does it just wait outside?

Actually, here at Escapology San Diego we welcome any dogs to come in to any of our escape rooms with you! We do recommend that your furry friend is potty trained before coming down. It's a one hour private experience, they might need to go… Read more

Which is the most popular room!?

Our most popular room by far is the Budapest Express. A murder mystery! It is also our hardest room so if you’re planning on doing that room, make sure you have a cohesive team!

My party went here for a bachelor party weekend, not really knowing what we were getting into. It turned out to be so good that we spun the block and did another one the day of our return flight. This location is on the third floor of an open building, and the elevator was so janky that we thought it was part of the experience, after about 7-8 seconds of rough shaking, the elevator doors opened, and we made our way to the actual location. The business was operated by one man Nasir, who was the best "host" someone could ask for. The escape room we did (Cannibal room); had a live actor, and Nasir honestly deserves an Oscar for his performance. Out of respect for the business, I won't share details of the room, but I will say that the puzzles were the perfect blend of rigor and entertainment. I hate escape rooms where the puzzles are not intuitive. These were all intuitive but also difficult! All in all, I give this place a 5/5 would recommend! We'll be back!

I found it to be better than a haunted house, cuz I was so enveloped with figuring out the clues that I would forget about the scares and I never knew when the scares would come. It was a multi room escape room and I would consider it a medium to hard level. Our game master was super friendly and helpful when we needed hints. I think we did a total of two hint through out the game and we managed to beat the clock and got out in time! The parking wasn't the best, it was all street parking with meters. When you get to the location it is a bit hard to find the front door because it is on the back side of the building up some stairs. But there is some signage to help you find the door if you get lost.

However, the Japanese Thriller barely felt on theme with the serial killer storyline other than the introduction video we received. I prefer escape rooms where I actually feel like I'm part of the story. This was a very different escape room than I have done before. While you always have to split up for escape rooms, this time we were forced to separate between multiple rooms so you had no idea how the other group was doing (this isn't great when you're forced to solve the room with strangers because you have no idea if they know what they're doing). It was definitely more chaotic than other escape rooms I've done. The rooms were small and they use locks for a lot of the puzzles, which isn't innovative. They also forgot to put back one of the pieces we needed to get the final combination, so we almost didn't make it out because we had to keep guessing. HOWEVER, the worst part of the entire experience was how RUDE the man was that was helping us on the walkie talkie. He would give us attitude every time we asked for a clue. Why give clues if you're going to rude when people use them?
