The available timing worked best for our schedules, and it was easy to book online. Allot plenty of time for parking since this is in the "back" of Belmont Park - or we just parked as far as possible. The introduction to the room was great. This past Saturday was the second time we've been to this location and both times were amazing! The first room we tried was the Scooby-Doo room. The Scooby-Doo room is so immersive it's almost as if you've walked into the cartoon itself and are solving a puzzle with hijinks along the way. The colors are so vibrant and it was a relatively easy puzzle to solve with a good storyline to guide you along the way. The clues made sense and helped move us along, section by section. The workers are so helpful explaining the rules and guiding you with tips if you ever were stuck. Which we needed a few times. This last Saturday we were celebrating my son's 15 Birthday and he chose Budapest Express. This one was a bit harder, the clues didn't guide you as much as the scooby Doo room, and they were less easy to understand. We wound up using hints a bit more for this one. All in all, it was still a lot of fun and the workers were really kind, helpful, and gave us really good feedback along the way that helped us "escape" with 16 seconds left. Are the rooms worthy of repeating? I would do the Scooby-Doo one again, but probably not the Budapest Express. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try the rest though! read more

The production value of their rooms has been consistently very good. There are not a ton of misleading items in the room that get you off course, which can be really annoying. They give you unlimited hints whenever you want one. We made it out of the room with 1 min and 19 seconds to spare. Phew! read more

I came here on vacation with some friends and we were looking for something fun to do! After researching the cheapest place to go (we are all new college graduates haha), Escapology was the winner! I appreciated that the more people you had in your group, the cheaper the room was to book. We had 6 people, which was only $30 per person. The room we booked was the "Lost City" and it was rated an 8.5/10 difficulty. It is pretty ironic because I had made a joke to our game master and said that we weren't going to ask for any clues. To my surprise, we actually didn't! We finished the escape room without any hints and 15 minutes before time ran out. None of my group members are avid escape room goes, as I mentioned we are fresh out of college so clearly our degrees paid off! If you are an avid escape room lover, maybe this isn't the spot for you? Either way it was fun and the best part was the location! Belmont Park is a small theme park with food, rides, and the beach! So many activities to look forward to after you finish your escape room!! Escapology is everything you want from a puzzle room/escape room establishment. They have a healthy selection of great themed rooms, including Scooby Doo, which we happened to pick. We had the first appointment of the day in the Scooby Doo room. Jacob was the gentleman responsible for taking care of us. He was incredibly nice, and considerate. He explained everything simply, and gave a concise run down of the rules, the process, how to communicate and ask for help if needed. The Scooby Doo room is absolutely fantastic, phenomenal, practically perfect. I will not list anything about the room, as I do not want to the spoil the experience for any future guests. I can say the decor, plot, puzzles, and everything inside is amazing, just mind-blowing. They do absolute justice to mystery inc., and the Scooby Doo gang. The price is tiered to how many people are participating in the time slot. It was $60 per person for two people. And it was worth absolutely every penny. The staff were great! They truly enjoy working here and are fun and friendly and patient. We did The anecdote themed room. It was fun and a bit challenging only because 1 major puzzle didn't make any sense so after working it out for a good amount of time we had to get a hint. The final puzzle also would not have got solved without a hint. Other than that it was beyond fun. We had good times and good laughs. The rooms had air conditioning which helped create a breathable environment for people who may be claustrophobic. It was also kid friendly but as a mother I don't recommend bringing young children because it can be challenging to get them involved and they may spend an hour being bored and/anxious, impatiently waiting to leave. read more

It's a standard escape room. It was fun but very basic. It was 55$/person for 2 people for the Budapest Express room, which is on the higher end. My partner and I have been to multiple escape rooms and have gone almost every weekend to different locations in SD. The puzzles and lock were standard, but the theme was good. I feel like there was no unique wow factor that stands out like other escape rooms. I suppose this may be a limitation of the theme, but if so, it should be cheaper. I was expecting hidden doors/tunnels or a live actor for that price. read more

I did the lost city escape room with my friends. We came 15 min early as instructed and they made us wait more than 30 min to reset the room. There were others who had checked in after us but they were not made to wait like we had to. Thereafter the room experience was sort of a mixed bag. The props were nice but it felt like the game master was rushing us along. In spite of having plenty of time and not asking for answers or hints, we were continuously prodded with some answers, denying us the ability to think through some of the puzzles. It honestly felt like they were rushing us along just to get back to their original schedule which they had caused delays for themselves. We ended up feeling very disappointed with the experience, having been denied the ability to finish the puzzles by ourselves. We were done with about 15 min remaining on the timer and it was all down to the fact that we were being rushed. I would not recommend this place. read more

Our team did the mansion murder room and we were thoroughly disappointed. Everyone in our group are all seasoned escape room enthusiasts so we're not newbies to this. Their escape rooms only have cameras and no mic so they can't hear us and if we need a hint, we need to write it on the whiteboard and press a button. There were keypads in the room that looked like admin stuff so we didn't touch that and later realized more than 30 mins into game that we were supposed to crack those too. The puzzles for this room seemed very random and not thought out well. Whenever we asked for hints, the staff would give us clues about things we already figured out so we would have to write that we know that and press the button again for another hint, which was wasting our time. At the end of the hour, we were told that one of the puzzles was malfunctioning. That particular puzzle took us nearly 20 minutes because we were trying to go back and see where we went wrong all the while it was just not working! Super disappointed with the game we did. We only received 5 mins of extra time due to the malfunction. Won't be coming back here. Only good thing was the price. $30/person for 7 people & they gave us a game card for the arcade at the end. read more

We escaped! With minutes to spare! We did the Scooby Doo one and I would recommend to do that one. I have not done any of their others so hard to compare them. We were told that for the Halloween time, some of the rooms will be altered in ways to incorporate the holiday season. I was honestly surprised we escaped. Our game master was Sylvi. We just wanted to escape the room, so we kept asking for hints for the clues. I am so thankful that she was so patient with us while we were panicking inside. We had unlimited hints, so that was helpful. The hints she gave us were beneficial in finding the clues and solving the puzzles. The rooms itself was done nicely. The puzzles were well-planned and thought out. Family tried the easiest one, the chemestry room And in beinging they told us they would give hints as needed to keep us on track. They didnt, they also didnt make sure we understood after directions on how to use their walkied talky, my parent turned it off mid game didnt know how to fix it. We ended up figuring it out. But this easy game we were unable to complete and failed. -they give you one hour to complete (Should be longer for beginner beginners) They gave us same hint a few times when we were past the section Woulda been nice if they really almost gave us answer near the ten minute mark to get us to catch up. read more

I've done escape room in Canada and the US and this is one of the worse experiences I have ever had. We did two rooms the first being Budapest Express, which was poorly themed outside of the first room. The main issue, however, was that the host kept giving us hints we did not ask for. We finished that room with almost 17 minutes left because of her. The second room we did was the Mansion Murder, which was themed really well. The problem was the broken phone in the room. The host knew it was broken, knew we had tried the correct code (we had it written on the whiteboard as tried and did not work several times by several people) and let us struggle for about 15 minutes before opening the painting for us. Multiple people in the group tried the code because we knew it was correct and we could not get it to work because the thing was broken, as per the host telling us. Absolutely a waste of money and time. read more
