It's been a while since I've been on a horse and this was the first ride for my kiddo. Before I forget to mention the barn is equipped with helmets if you would like one which is so awesome! After filling out the paperwork they give a brief tutorial before your ride on how to stop/start/ guide the horse to do what you want which was really helpful. The horses were so sweet and gentle my daughter rode Simon, I rode Rusty, and my husband got Bella. The trail was great a little narrow at times between trees but the horses definitely kept us on track and going smoothly. My husband ended up getting the sweetest horse who loved to stop every couple of minutes for snacks so every time we looked back he was a bit behind us lol! It made for a great moment that we will remember and laugh about for years to come! Our guide was very knowledgeable and great with my daughter who despite being nervous beforehand rode like she had been riding her whole life! Proud mama moment for sure!! Their barn cat greeted us when we got back and was all purrs & brushing up against our legs such a little cutie (check out the picture). We got to meet all of the other horses and fed our horses a treat in their buckets after the ride! We had a fantastic time and we really enjoyed the horses and the beautiful scenery! If you love horses whether you're a beginner or just want a great spot to get back in the saddle check this place out for sure! It's a blast!!

Until I got in touch with Susie. It started going south from that moment on. It started with no response to calls or voicemails. After sending her a text message I get a curt response about having no availability in summer. After inquiring about the availability for Fall - and another follow up message - I get a spot being told that there will be no trial class and that we need to commit to weekly lessons. Which I did. Here is what was shocking. We drive up to the school and call her from the gates. She instructs me to take the first right. I go in - but miss the first right (because it is not a paved road and it did not seem right to take that right :). "Ms." Susie waits for me at the end of this drive way - with hands on her hips - she SCOLDS me saying " I TOLD YOU TO TAKE THE FIRST RIGHT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST RIGT". I still can't believe that I got scolded that way by an adult!! I can't imagine how she might be teaching the kids!! I told her that she is an incredibly rude person and drove back home. I am just shocked at the fact that a business can run despite such a low quality. Very disappointing.

My daughter and I both took lessons from her and accomplished more in 2 months then I did at other barns in the area. My daughter took lessons with Hannah for 12 years, and the experience has been truly life-changing. Wildewood was the first place she went when she got her drivers license and the last place she went when she left for her freshman year of college. Beyond just learning to ride, Hannah teaches responsibility, patience, confidence, and resilience--skills that extend far beyond the barn. She creates a safe, supportive environment where kids not only develop strong riding techniques but also build a deep bond with the horses and gain lifelong lessons in perseverance and dedication. Hannah's program takes place on a real, working farm--this isn't some polished, bougie equestrian center. Kids get their hands dirty and learn what it truly means to care for horses, from feeding and grooming to cleaning tack. They develop a deep respect for hard work, nature, and the animals they ride, gaining life skills that go far beyond horseback riding. Thanks to Hannah's guidance, my daughter has grown into a brilliant, capable young woman with a strong work ethic and a deep love for riding. If you want your child to learn from the best while growing in confidence and character, Wildewood Farms with Hannah is the perfect place.

We pulled up and I loved that there was plenty of signage to direct those who were attending the shindig where to park and where to enter the barn. When we arrived the ladies were so sweet and I just loved how they worked together to make sure that everyone in attendance was enjoying themselves. There's a huge area of land where the kids are able to ride ponies and see them up close and personal. They had a carousel from the '70s, a little saddle that the kids could ride as though they were riding a bull, and they were able to go into the barn to see more of the ponies...who were sooo cute but why wouldn't they be. There are several picnic tables where you can sit, eat, and watch the littles enjoy their horseback ride. There a port-a-potties if needed and I liked that there was sanitizer all around and a sink near the barn where the littles were painting horseshoes. The kiddos also did a scavenger hunt and some fun relay races which they loved. This was a super cute place with some wonderful people!

Otherwise you'll end up in a subdivision following the GPS. All the workers on the farm are super nice and made the experience so much better. Dawn greeted us and did our tour. I did the farm tour with the ride experience. Like others have mentioned the farm tour was very interactive and informative. We were able to feed ans visit with horses, Goats (interesting story about how so many came to be there), the Alpacas and Llamas, Chickens, Ducks and Rabbits. Free range chicken amd roosters. All the animals are well mannered and I didn't feel threatened by them at all. We were told that the farm had 2 airbnbs - 1 was a dome and the other a cottage, pool access. Archery. They offer summer camps and equestrian classes too. After the farm tour we did the 15 min trail ride on the horses. Helmets provided. The workers guide the horses so no experience is needed and they have a pony for toddlers. They have a platform to help with mounting and discounting the horse. Plus the staff help too. My kids had a blast! So did I! I would definitely recommend it for a family day getaway.

They are usually closed to the public except for these events. They had a ton of volunteers wearing matching vests which was really helpful. You parked on a residential street and got to walk through the conservancy and look at horses in the field. Then came the fun part. Kids 4 and up could ride on a pony for $5. They did 2 huge round a outs in the corral. You sign a waiver, learn about the conservancy via a waiver, and wait in line to ride the horse. In the meantime they teamed up with DH high (I think) what was selling chicken biscuits and snacks as well as doing face painting. They had 7 horses in the corral that kids were riding in. We are not talking tiny little things either. They were huge! Afterwards, you got to walk by the area at that the horses stay in and could read about them and see any awards the won. They also had free arts and crafts projects setup like making horse puppets. They offer riding lessons, but I didn't tell my kids because I am nervous that they will want a horse.

We went to the office and were met by the RUDEST person I have encountered in a long time and it turned out that she, Tamara, is the barn manager. Unbelievable to be treated in such a harsh and unfriendly manner, in front of my 7 year old daughter, at a COUNTY PARK. I am a DeKalb Co resident so my tax money is paying for this kind of behavior. I worry what the horses themselves must experience as well as her staff and anyone else who has to deal with her. A personality like that should not be in the position of dealing with the public. Unbelievable!
