Shana is super sweet and ,also, spent time showing my granddaughter how to brush Tank the Pony's blonde mane and winter-coat, as well as ,how to clean his hooves. In the end, my granddaughter went home with a Pony-poster, horse stickers and a cute, decorated, pink horseshoe! She loved it, after being all shy and tentative in the beginning. Thanks, Shana. The previous review saying they mistreat their horses is completely ridiculous. They have been operating for decades and I know many families who have used them over the years, including some who grew up owning and training horses themselves. Fairhope is well-known in the community for having excellent practices with their horses as well as excellent training.

The rider's head is three feet away from unprotected overhead fluorescent lights, legs can get caught on stall hardware... riding in barn aisles is strictly against the rules at any reputable facility for these reasons. Plus, you don't actually learn how to ride if all you do is walk/trot up and down a barn aisle. There was also no instruction on horsemanship skills included in the lessons. What's more, Valerie is stunningly rude. I was introduced to her, and when she was told about my national championship hunter/jumper experience, the first words out of her mouth to me were a curt, "I'm sorry." Let's be clear that this place specializes in saddlebred riding, which is not exactly the pinnacle of equestrian sport. Valerie only became interested in me when she found out how I make my living and saw dollar signs. This place is a hazard. This is not the equestrian experience you are looking for.

I have been taking lessons from trainer Marian Bickers at Cornerstone Equestrian for a while now…read more As an adult returning to riding, I tried several other trainers before I found this one, she is a great match. Flexible scheduling, reasonable prices, and excellent training are my main reasons for really liking this place. The location is pretty close to me, about 20 minutes from the Mall of Georgia, which is a good drive, not too far like a lot of places. Showing is definitely encouraged, and there is a fantastic team attitude, but it is not required and as I work full time with my own business, it doesn't always fit into my schedule so it's important to me that I am not required to show like at some barns. Marian is always professional, her concern for the horses is Priority One, and I feel as though my riding has improved drastically over my time with her. During the summer, my preteen daughter also took camp at Cornerstone and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend Cornerstone Equestrian to anyone.
