I am a fairly new convert to the world of escape rooms, but I have to say I am completely addicted and now need to play through them all! I was surprised to see what Escape Hunt has hidden in an unassuming alleyway off Rundle Mall. The bar and lounge area is amazingly decorated and a lot of thought has gone into this space. There are beautiful velvet lounges and armchairs, tricky puzzles to attempt and a cleverly presented drinks menu. The drinks menu included a great local craft beer label too, which I am always happy to see. The more you look around this area, the more you see small details and little touches that make this space interesting. This is a place I could see myself hanging out even when not planning to play the game. Now, on to the game. If you're new to the concept of an escape room, basically you are locked in a room (or series of rooms) with your team members. You're surrounded by props, puzzles and locks, and it is up to you to break the codes and find your way out of the room! On this occasion our team played the 'Spy on the Beach' room, and without giving too much away I will say it is based on a true Adelaide mystery, which I thought was a really cool touch. It was a fun idea to have a mystery and a backstory to what we were doing - you felt really in the moment and attached to the story as you made your way through. One of my favourite parts though was the triumphant bell ringing to signal we had escaped! The staff here were great too, you could tell they really loved this concept and they were excited with us when we managed to figure it out. Everyone seemed happy to have us and that contributed to our enthusiasm and excitement too! I'm hoping that over time the rooms will change as this is an activity I'd love to continue to take part in. As well as a few more local drinks being added to the menu. But I had an amazing time at Escape Hunt and will 100% be back as soon as possible! read more

Visited last week. Overall was a good experience. Friendly staff and a very nice waiting lounge. The only gripe; The first door inside the escape room was not locked by the staff when they did the "room reset". We didn't know this was meant to be locked, hence skipped about 15 minutes of challenges, and ended up escaping the room in near record speed. Skipping the challenges in the first room meant we didn't get what we paid for. Although the kind staff member did apologise and admit fault, it wasn't until a friendly email to the management the next week before we were offered any compensation (a 50% off voucher for next time). Maybe they should offer such a voucher on the spot, without having to ask. read more

As previously mentioned, we are escape room enthusiasts and for some reason had yet to try the one in our own state. We were in town for court and decided spur of the moment to try Escape Hunt Adelaide. Husband was able to get us 15% off using commonwealth rewards which makes it even cheaper. We paid just over $50. As it is just off Rundle mall there is an issue with parking (just like going to the mall). The close car park is around $25 for 2-3 hrs so we parked in Topham Mall car park and walked a 10 min walk for $14 - a fair difference. Once inside the building, you go up to floor 3 in the elevator where you are greeted by someone. You step into this gorgeous lounge with a bar and place to order hot drinks etc. lots of old furniture filling the room, and old videos going on the wall. There are even board games to sit and play for a while, I wish we had had longer to experience it all. The game was good. I loved that the representative was right outside the door the whole time watching you, she came down with us. We escaped (like usual!!!) with good time, I won't say anything about the room to avoid spoilers. Once complete you can go upstairs again to have a photo taken using their props. Highly recommend, even if you are just checking out the gorgeous lounge/bar. We will be back. read more
This place is a hidden gem just off Rundle Mall. Sure when you hear the name and you've never heard of escape rooms you think it is something for kids or some nerdy thing. It's fun for all! Basically you get locked in a room for an hour and you have to find clues to get out, as well as solving the mystery. They have three types of adventures escape from the zoo, murder at the winery, and spy on the beach. Max number of participants is 5 per room, and it only costs $35 each, with more fun to be had than spending two hours watching a boring movie. Also don't think it's easy because it's not. Each room makes you think, as there is lots of clues involved before you can escape into each area. If you get stuck you can use the intercom or use the morse code clues on the screen. All rooms have cameras to watch you, so don't think about trying to break anything. We didn't make it to the end that's how hard it was, but so much fun. They also change their room themes every 12 months, so when you've done them all, there is also more! There is also bar and waiting area if you want have a drink or two before or after. It's great for team building, buck nights, hen nights, or just to have some fun with friends. I highly recommend it. read more
