This review is of the Optometrist, not the retail center for glasses as the ladies there were wonderful. Dr. Kalra, however, had terrible "bedside" manners, truly inexusable, wouldn't answer basic questions, was terse, wouldn't even tell me the degree of vision degradation that I had (I answered this for myself with a 5 min google search using the diagnosis code, I have mild far hyperopia, far sightedness). I explained I hadn't been to an eye doctor in 20+ years and he didn't give me more than a few sentences, didn't even review my family medical history with me (which includes major macular degeneration). In summary, the ladies selling the glasses are great but the physician is a waste of your time and money if you have any reasonable expectation of physician/patient interaction. read more

Worst appointment ever. I get there early just to be rushed through my appointment never feeling like anyone in that office has time for you. I have tons of questions about contacts seeing how it's my second time to an eye doctor and first time trying contacts. I told them this up front befor everything mind you. They gladly took my money. The doctor told me nobody in the office had time to show me how to properly put them in my eyes. So I'm just confused to what my window of time for an appointment is for, me or them?? A week later here I am writing this after having to spend more money for glasses. Although I will say the staff is very friendly and the doc did show me once but I need some pointers because it's not as easy as he made it look! Just a lot of money spent and lost, and I'm not even convinced my prescription is correct! read more

We moved near Front Royal about a year ago and I needed a complete eye exam and refraction. I made an appointment at the Eye Care Center and went in this morning. I was so impressed: immaculately clean quarters; masked, very efficient and charming staff; very up-to-date diagnostic equipment; and (most important!) an extremely impressive doctor, Dr. Kalra. His examination was very thorough and he showed me the scans and photos of my eyes, explaining everything. I have always enjoyed outstanding eye care and I am so happy to know that I will have this excellent level of care now that we are here. Dr is great. The staff is totally incompetent I will never go back. Three phone calls and got no where

I scheduled an eye exam for myself and my son. I was the first appointment of the day on a Saturday. I have had a couple of eye exams over the years and knew what to expect. Dr Sona Kalra was giving my exam. It was by far the worst most incomplete exam I have ever received. He entered the room and immediately begin clicking through the various lenses on his machine and had me read the letters on the wall. This took about 2 minutes. Then he looked at my eyes through a machine that had the "blinking white lights". That was it! No pressure test. No color blind test. No other tests. Took him maybe 4 minutes tops! I paid and left and once I got home realized just how incomplete this exam was. I called to cancel my son's appointment an scheduled him with another eye doctor. My son just had his exam last night that other eye doctor. What a great exam! Dr took about 30 minutes and went through a battery of tests. I would avoid Eye Care Center. Dr. Kalra did not give me a through exam and was negligent in his not testing my eyes properly. read more

I have been seeing the Drs. at The Eye Care Center the past 3 years for my yearly eye exam. I had recently scheduled appointments for myself and my son and last minute needed to add my other son. I was planning just to give him my appointment and move myself to another day. The receptionist/assistant was very nice and helpful and offered to check with the Dr. who was able to fit all three of us in for appointments at our scheduled time. We were there less than an hour and on our way. I also like that I don't feel pressured to purchase glasses anywhere specific. They work with The Eye Glass Factory that is adjacent so they can help you if you would like but ultimately the Dr. writes your prescriptions and you can purchase wherever you'd like. We went back last Friday for my son to be fitted for contacts and the receptionist/assistant was great in teaching him how to put them in and take them out. He was quite nervous and she was very patient and helpful! read more

I was unbelievably pleased by the care that my daughter and myself got from Dr Shah. We picked this place because we needed something asap for my 6 year old who had been having some problems with her eyes and not telling us. We called and they fit her in the next day, and then they fit myself in with her so that she could see mommy have her exam and ease her fears. Dr Shah took her time and explained everything easily so that I could understand how her eyes work and whats going on within her eyes. She took her time and explained everything to my daughter as she was doing each test and was incredibly patient with my daughter. My daughter was so happy after leaving and had a wonderful experience and wants to go back to Dr Shah each visit! We were greatly pleased! read more
