I never felt rushed, he communicated well--about procedures and insurance billing--his office is beautiful and state-of-the-art, while his service and care are old-school. I expressed that I was planning to purchase glasses with my first progressive script ever elsewhere by mail, and he then must have taken at least 1/2 hour more to make sure that my script was right, never pressuring me to buy frames from him. When I received the explanation for the visit from their office, they said I had a surgical problem with my eyes which my insurance only paid for the exam.. I did not have any eye problems...only needed the exam. They have since billed me and sent me notices that I owed them 40.00 I contacted my insurance company. The insurance company told me early on that they paid the bill in full and I did not owe them anything because they paid the bill in full. They should refund the $40. I have contacted this business many times concerning the refund. Up front I informed this what appears to be an incompetent assistant that called me back for the initial exam the prescribed eye drops were going to be overnighted by the VA. Yes, on Dec 11th, 2025 this Gulf War Veteran was scheduled for a procedure to improve vision after multiple cornea transplants. After checking in I'm She begins to harass asking if "there's not a local pharmacy to pick them up?" I said, "I told you they are going to be shipped and they should arrive today." She then states, "I still have to ask you!" Understand at a minimum I believe in order to deal with the public on a daily basis whether it be in the profession of patient care or any other line of work in customer service/support you should be an EFFECTIVE LISTENER! As a War Vet where lives were once on the line please know I have a low tolerance for BS when it comes to incompetence and those paid to do a J.O.B! With the unemployment rate as high as it is I DO NOT understand with individuals like this employed taking up office space hired by Moyes Eye Center. Who's in control of QA, ensuring patients are top priority when entering your front door?! Eye pressure was high and etc. ok. First doc I seen was a surgeon and didn't like because well when he came in like 2 people who are "learning" wanted to be in. The doc chose not to have bedside manners and ask me for my consent first and if it was okay. I had to stop him from talking to ask who they were then told them to get out. I'm not gone be your little experiment or "ooo this is interesting" bs. The walls are thin and I can hear the staff talking. I could even hear "oh she got an interesting case" and etc. I don't care watch what you say knowing these walls are very thin. Anyways first doc wanted blood work done for damn near every single thing. They all came back normal. Did another bloodwork again with my PCP in December all back normal. I requested to my PCP for a referral for a rheumatologist but specifically at KU med because they are the best. Just recently seen my rheumatologist and she even suggested getting a second opinion because she looked at my lab report BOTH of them and she said everything is normal and is concerned on why these people have me on two eye pressure drops and one steroid drops for 5 months. So she sent a referral to KU ophthalmology for their opinion. KU med is a teaching hospital so they are very up to date, go by the book, caring, find the actual problem. I've had speciality docs there for myself and for my kids and very good experience. I should've went there first instead of Moyce Eye Center. I shouldn't be on these damn steroid drops for 5 months. Because all three drops for one damn eye... is already effecting me at the side effects. More fatigue where it's effecting me in daily tasks. I'm not tired but the damn drops making me tired. My iron supplements don't even work anymore. at this point I don't have a good feeling with this place nor trust anybody there. Money hungry. Wonder is it cause I'm on Medicaid? I love Mc Knight Eye center. Have been going there for I believe around 10 years. Front desk…read morestaff, technicians and doctors are all fabulous. (Only criticism.=I am "not happy"to see that they have gone to "Phyreesia" a new appointment system requiring complicated phone or online form to checkin for appointments. Having previously endured another physicians office using this system I gave up trying to wade through the new form and arrived early, where the staff assisted me. Hopefully this will become easier for me in time.) I first went to McKnights because I thought I had a droopy eyelid affecting my vision. Testing showed that this was not a problem. I discovered instead that, like my grandmother, I was developing glaucoma and cataracts. I remembered helping my grandmother for years with her nightly eyedrops and my brother lost use of one eye to macular degeneration so I was thankful I had not put off eye care. I had also developed type2 diabetes so eye care is also important with that. I began using prescribed eye drops and had regular 6 month exams to monitor the pressure in my eyes. Eventually the cataracts advanced enough that Dr. Brett suggested surgery. This was done at a different nearby office by another of the McKnight family. It was also mentioned that it might also be possible to do something surgically to help with the glaucoma. The surgeries went very well. I was able to go from wearing my trifocals to only wearing reading glasses. Stents were placed in each eye that help reduce the build up of pressure caused by my type of glaucoma. I still had to use the eye drops for a few months but follow up showed the stents were working and I was able to stop using the nightly eyedrops. I now have 6 month checkups and have recommended their office to friends. The waiting room is large and very comfortable with a pod coffee machine. The wait is sometimes too short for that coffee but no problem having one on the way out. If you happen to have an appointment around the holidays you will be impressed with how creative they can be with decorating.

I have been a patient at Discover Vision on N. Oak for many years…read more I had an appointment this week at 3:30. The tech didn't come an get me until 3:55. That was somewhat upsetting but I didn't say anything. After the tech finished her exam at 4:15, I was not seen by the eye doctor until 5:00 or a few minutes after. I waited in the exam room for 45 minutes!! The eye doctor apologized and said they were backed up. I understand scheduling issues but someone should have at least came in and told me what was taking so long. When I walked out of the exam room, everyone at that check in desk were gone, lights were out and the place was shut down. I then had to be walked back to the eye glass area to pay my $10.00 copay, which I felt should have been free. The fact that my insurance is paying for this exam is really upsetting. I will find another eye doctor who is not with Discover Vision. I would give them NO STARS but that was not an option.

Specifically, Avery's behavior was unacceptable and did not meet professional standards. I hold my eye doctor in high regard but am contemplating changing providers due to my experiences with the front desk staff.
