My teeth were overall quite clean, but I was told there was some kind of jawbone issue and I should come in for more cleaning appointments to make sure it doesn't get worse. I also got a sales pitch for Philips electric toothbrushes again. I'm told the office doesn't sell them, but I suspect they may have some kind of partnership with the brand. Also someone else told me her dentist recommended against the Sonicare brushes because they were too aggressive. I'm also not a fan of the ultrasonic tooth cleaning/scaling tool used here. It feels more aggressive than manual cleaning and often will cause pain as it runs into my gums. As to the bone issue, I would need all the historic X-Rays, but it's possible that my teeth just came in a little differently than most peoples'. The hygienist and doctor both had no real explanation as to the cause because everything looked clean and healthy. They just suggested to come in more frequently for cleanings.

I was then subjected to scare tactics in order to up sale me on unnecessary procedures that are not covered by my insurance. I was REFUSED A BASIC CLEANING when I did not consent to the additional procedures.

Ten months later, they sent a notice with a second charge for the same appointment. Called billing who did not return the call. Went down to discuss with them, I received evasive and conflicting explanations which really made no sense. I won't be returning to a dentist with such unprofessional accounting and suggest you don't either unless you welcome random demands for payment out of the blue with no explanation.

He put her at ease immediately-- letting her pick a show to watch, giving her a stuffed animal to hold -- using plenty of numbing creams and carefully explaining what he would do!!! People are shocked when she shows them her stitches and tells them how brave she was. She'll tell them it didnt hurt! She'll repeat his phrases, "You'll feel a little bubble that feels like a pinch -- and then it didn't hurt any more." As a parent, I appreciate the extra steps he took to gain her cooperation! From a clinical perspective -- he is one of the best and cares about long-terms aesthetics rather than only providing a quick-fix.

He would sing a lot and make songs with your name in it. He was very kind and engaging. The thing is though, my younger brother was maybe 8 and he needed celents and a tooth pulled. My brother was scared and they numbed him but he was just too scared and crying and this is the one time I had seen our favorite dentist lose his cool. I thought they were supposed to comfort their patient, this was a few years ago. Things could have changed but once that happened my parents were furious. The guy had awful bedside manner with a scared child, which surprised me as he had once told me he had kids of his own. Our office experience had been almost great. We didn't go there for long though, maybe under a year. All in all I'll give this place 2 stars, wouldn't recommend this location but who knows, things change, and people change, so take your own initiative try it if you want if not don't.

I'm in the Army going to the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth for this year…read more They don't allow us to miss very much class time, so finding a "one stop shop" for my dental needs was extremely important. The dental office on post lost my trust after the dentist there and his assistant (who are super nice BTW) dropped instruments during my appointment to get a temporary crown. Not only that, but after 3 days the temporary crown fell out when I was eating a sandwich (not something that was even that hard)!! Additionally, when I called the Fort Leavenworth clinic about it, they said that having a temporary crown fall out after 3 days was normal! I just don't see that as being the case. All these shenanigans was after getting referred for a root-canal that should've been followed within 3-6 weeks with the temporary crown. Fort Leavenworth forced me into the above appointment 7-8 weeks after the root-canal and basically told me "tough" at their front desk and to "just be careful" with the tooth that just received the root-canal. Needless to say, that's when I started wondering if I could go somewhere else. The on post dental clinic is severely lacking in customer service at their front desk and a level of competence that I'm comfortable with. After calling TRICARE (insurance) for my procedures, they gave me a list that I whittled down to a couple places. I eventually chose Olathe Smiles Dentistry because they could do all of the procedures I needed AND do them all in one day with NO follow-up appointments (pending any unanticipated complications). The dental clinic (Ebony) on post very begrudgingly set up the referral for me. No one likes confrontation, but I am SO glad I put an end to my suffering at their hands. Olathe Smiles Dentistry was great from when I checked in (Ebony screwed up the insurance referral paperwork that Olathe Smiles front desk ladies fixed PROACTIVELY), to the assistants and the doctors. First, I saw Trish who works with the periodontist Dr. McKenzie. She got me x-rays and helped out during my root lengthening. "Root lengthening" really should be called something else because it's when they cut out gums from around your tooth and sometimes grind down bone. I was nervous going in. However, both Trish and Dr. McKenzie were hilarious and their conversations REALLY set me at ease and took my mind off of the procedure. Immediately following that appointment (same day) I moved from one room to another for the permanent crown to be put in. Dr. Rawalt and Benita (I think) were the ones helping with that. They were both great as well! Don't feel like you HAVE to go to Smith Dental Clinic. CALL TRICARE!!! See what your options actually ARE and don't just assume you have to be subjected to terrible customer service and an overworked staff who is making mistakes.

His assistant Stephanie was very caring and has a great sense of humor, before the procedure she let me choose the music to listen to during it, and was very talkative and made me laugh. Dr Missura also has a great sense of humor and truly cares for his patients; they treat you like family. The root canal treatment was painless, I didn't even feel the anesthetic injection, and the gentlewave was an interesting experience it pretty much almost made me fall sleep and feel relaxed. I was able to watch it on the big screen from start to finish. I was even able to see the results and I can say my teeth could not look any heathier and cleaner. Even with the anesthetic having worn off I feel no soreness or discomfort. If you are in need of pain relief and a place to feel welcomed to overcome your anxiety I highly recommend Dr. Missura and his staff, you won't regret it!
