Sharing my experience with LaserAway tattoo removal in the Woodlands TX, as a warning to anyone…read moreconsidering purchasing a prepaid package.
I paid $3,180 on September 9 for a tattoo-removal package after a remote consultation where I showed pictures of, and discussed my tattoos, including their colors. I was very clear that my goal was complete removal, with an important family wedding in July 2027.
What I was told during the sales process and what I was told when I actually arrived for treatment were very different.
At the treatment location, staff raised concerns about some of the colored pigments specifically one on my chest with pink ink, and whether they could be removed with their equipment. This was the first time these limitations were explained to me. Staff also appeared confused about the package and treatment plan I had been sold.
Staff also were concerned that the sales person told me a year was plenty long for full removal, I was told I was buying 5 sets of 5 sessions to total 30 sessions to be finished by June 2027
Instead I had 48 sessions, and was told the notes stated 2-3 yrs for removal!!!!
I asked to cancel and receive a refund before any laser treatment was performed. I was told the location could not process the refund and that it had to go through the person who sold me the package.
After further discussion with the manager and staff, and reassurance that the black portions could be treated and the already-faint pink could simply remain and be covered with makeup, I allowed one limited treatment session and declined treatment of another tattoo that contained purple and turquoise, even though I was sold sessions for that particular tattoo.
Afterward, I learned about another important issue that had never been explained to me: white and certain pink/light tattoo pigments can paradoxically darken when treated with laser. My wrist tattoos contain known old white ink, yet nobody asked me whether white ink had been used before treating them. You could clearly see where the white was used in the shading. The faded pink pigment in my chest tattoo was specifically discussed that day, but I was not warned that laser exposure could potentially make pink(because its typically mixed with white) pigment darker and more noticeable rather than simply leaving faint residual color.
After learning of all of these limitations as well as the white ink issue, I now have three tattoos that cannot be treated as sold to me without risk of permanent paradoxical darkening, this is a risk with all tattoo removal, not just their machine, as well as one tattoo they can't treat because their lasers don't target purple/turquoise. They can only remove black and red.
I requested a refund of $2,928, allowing $252 for the treatment I received based on the package pricing I purchased. I stated up front I would not pay à la carte pricing for my treatment because I never would have agreed to those prices. I agreed to a specific package for specific tattoos.
Instead, I was offered either $1,360 back to my credit card or store credit. The explanation I received said $820 was being deducted for treatment, on out of package a la carte pricing, but even that math did not explain a $1,360 refund from a $3,180 purchase.
I do not need or wish to have any other treatments laser away offers. So there is no need for their "store credit" I bought a package for complete tattoo removal, that they literally can't perform for my specific case.
My tattoos, inquiries and concerns should have been re-examined and a refund issued.
I declined the options given to me and repeatedly requested that the matter be reviewed. I received no response, no response to my concerns about the white and pink ink. Crickets
I escalated it to corporate, provided the relevant correspondence, requested copies of my signed consent forms and treatment records, and gave the company until September 25 at 4:00 PM Central to respond, giving them over a week to resolve this.
That deadline passed with no substantive response, no requested refund, and no copies of the records I requested.
I have now initiated a credit-card dispute for $2,928. Back to my original payment method. I did not do any financing.
I'm sharing this because I want people to know that the sales people can tell you anything to get you to buy the packages, and they send you the consent forms AFTER you pay, that outlines many contradictions.
This is my personal experience and the chronology of what occurred. As also witnessed on all accounts by my husband Jason. I will update this review if LaserAway resolves the matter with my refund as requested.
