**Obsessed doesn't even begin to cover it** Visiting Vancouver from the States, I stumbled across *The Fall* while scrolling through the internet--and I'm so glad I did. After some research, I knew I had to have my tattoo done by Fay. A few weeks before my trip, I called, paid my deposit, and sent over my design with the tweaks I wanted. Everything was set, and my excitement started to build. Fast forward to the day of my appointment--I arrived right on time, and Fay was already waiting, ready to go. She printed out my design, and let me tell you: she *nailed it*. First try, no edits needed. She even printed a few different sizes so we could settle on the perfect one. And before I knew it, she was tattooing. Yes, it hurt (because, of course it does), but the pain faded as quickly as it came. Chatting with Fay was a blast, and to top it off, she even touched up one of my older tats. And the pricing? Absolutely fantastic for the quality. But I wasn't done. Apparently, one tattoo wasn't enough--I decided to get a tragus piercing with Adam. Now, it had been 10 years since I'd had anything pierced, so naturally, I didn't quite remember what to expect. But Adam was a total pro. He distracted me effortlessly with great conversation, and before I knew it, the piercing was done. His vibe? Impeccable. I was tattooed by Geoff. It was my first tattoo and I was super nervous to get it (read that as I had backed out of getting a tattoo before). Geoff took me as a walk-in. He was warm and welcoming, putting to easy my nerves. He drew up my idea beautifully! He did an excellent job using conversation to make the session go smoothly. I was able to make a pretty short notice appointment for both my friend and I to get matching tattoos as well as our own separate tattoos. The whole shop is very open and clean. They made sure to greet us as soon as we walked in the door and were very nice! We had Brittany do all of our tattoos and she did a fantastic job! Easy to talk to and very quick and clean work! She was very transparent and great at communicating with us to make sure we knew exactly what we were getting! Found this spot while visiting the souvenir shop next door. Hubby really wanted to get a tat to remember our 17 year anniversary that we're spending in Vancouver. I can't remember the guys name at the front desk but he was so freaking chill and friendly we instantly felt welcomed and at home. Service was exceptional. I recently went to the Fall to see Duygu for a touch up and I was so impressed! I had gotten a tattoo from her a couple of months ago before she moved to The Fall, so I'd not been in this shop before. The shop is very clean, welcoming, bright, open, and relaxing. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. There is lots of room and the space has great energy. I am always on the lookout for tattoo studios where I feel comfortable and at ease, and The Fall tops my list now. Also, Duygu tops my list for tattoo artists. She is a very talented artist (tattoo and otherwise), so friendly and kind, funny, and a real pleasure to work with. She specializes is delicate floral tattoos which are just gorgeous. As they're known to be a difficult piercing to heal, I wanted to give it the best chance by finding a good piercer to do it safely. I recently got my first tattoo here a little more than a week ago as an early birthday present to myself, and I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. I've always wanted a tattoo as a tribute to the women in my family, but never really had the guts to follow through. After doing research on different artists extensively, I decided to go with Alison at The Fall. Right off the bat, Alison went out of her way to make me extremely comfortable with the process, and was quick to address any concerns or questions that arose. After my consultation, she came up with a beautiful floral design incorporating my favourite blossoms, along with my mother's and grandma's, all intertwined in one large bouquet for a backpiece. I put down a $100 deposit and came back two weeks later for my first session. Alison made sure I was 100% happy with the placement and sizing of the piece before starting the actual tattooing process. She was extremely thorough and ensured I was completely comfortable throughout the entire session, asking if I ever needed a breather or a coffee break. I think in total I was probably at the shop for five and a half hours, but it didn't feel that long at all. Alison's rate is very fair, and I would highly recommend reaching out to her if you want work done. My experience with THE FALL was a trainwreck. I came into Vancouver for my scheduled consult, only to find the shop closed and lights off. I had called twice (2 times!) the previous day and talked to two (2!) different receptionists who both assured me that the consult time was correct. It was obviously not. So I wasted a morning driving into Vancouver. I contacted the artist/management and sent them a screenshot of the email I received with the incorrect time, and they had no excuse. They had no idea how it could have happened or who could have possibly given me incorrect information twice. This management raises my eyebrows. The artist offered to do a video consult with me, and I agreed because I figured that the scheduling was an unfortunate and irritating miscommunication and wouldn't get in the way of good art. Unfortunately the consult was no better. The artist was unethusiastic, snide, passive aggressive, and was obviously just going through the motions. As an example, here's an exchange: Me: So that's what I'd like. Artist: uh-huh. I can see what you're going for. Me: (laughing) :) yeah, you can tell what kinda things I'm into and what sort of person I am, huh? Artist: (as if I'd just dropped a slur).... yyyyyyeah.... :| Needless to say, I did not decide to work with this particular artist. Later the manager called me, and when I said I wasn't going to choose THE FALL he hung up on me. I have multiple tattoos and have never, ever, in my entire existence, had so much trouble with a tattoo parlour. I would advise extreme caution before selecting this shop. EDIT: Just check out other 1-star reviews on Google and you'll see which artist to avoid. EDIT 2: The management called me. He's a pleasant, personable and nice guy who offered me a discount. I accepted, and then THE FALL just stopped answering my emails. Is it total chaos behind the scenes? What's going on with reception? I'm done chasing them. Why is getting a tattoo so difficult here? I really wish I had the wonderful tattooing experience here that everyone else seems to have gotten, but that didn't happen. I had $1500 I was eager to spend on art, and in the end I couldn't give them a dime. Recommendation: AVOID. read more

I have to say we had an appointment yesterday, that was made back in March for Rick Dobran and all I can say is having you people contact us twice to make sure we didn't miss our appointment, yet when we drive in 30 minutes to get to your location, pay for parking and then find out your artist is in Montreal. Funny how you didn't seem to know he was NOT gonna be here for us. No excuse I'm disgusted with your lack of concern for this happening. Sure you give us our deposit back, but what about you and your artist, do you have no consequence of your lack of professionalism? Does this only go one way? the customer pays either way, weather we like it or not, weather we get the job done or not. I can't believe the audacity to suggest some other artist on hand. Mr. Skeleton is finally completed! As I lay there making squeemish faces, breathing like an asthmatic stripper, and realizing this was one of the more painful times in my life (Oh god, the inner bicep....), it was well worth it in the end! I felt as incredibly comfortable as one having an automated Needle in their arm can be, as well as perfectly safe to show my true colours as a giant marshmallow wimp-face. Hey, if tattoos weren't painful, we'd all have them! Sean went the extra mile to make Mr. Skeleton look fantastico, so I will remain loyal to this place until he decides to go somewhere else. The Fall is great, they really take professionalism to the max which is surpising for a business run by younger men. You are really in safe hands from the minute you walk in the door, everyone one of the workers has a puppy dog persona which really soothes my restless nerves. I knew I was in good hands with Russ Fox as I have heard nothing but good reviews about him since I was about 16, I was very eager to see what it was all about! Holy shit this guy is nothing short of amazing, he walks you through everything and ensures that you know 100% that you are in good hands. After 4 weeks my pericing was doing well and I stupidly attempted to change the jewellery and it ended in a bloody, swollen discusting mess. I urgently needed to see a peircer the next day to have it looked at and have proper jewellery back in since Russ was out of town I took a change and went to see Rick Gilmour who was also a teddy bear on the inside! I felt like a complete idiot when I went in and he assured me that I was being too hard on myself and made it clear that his only concern was getting my peircing clean, happy and with proper sized jewellery (I had put in a ring that was too small!) He showed amazing empathy while I was fighting back tears as he pushed a taper and then the jewellery into my poor swollen little nostril. If I were to get a new piercing I would have a really hard time choosing between Russ or Rick because they are both incredibly talented in their feild with unbeleivable people skills. read more

What can I say about the place. I love it. Finding artists who are extremely talented in their craft who are also awesome people and easy to get along with has been a difficult task for some people I know...fortunately I never had to go through that, as I've only had work done by artists hailing from The Fall. (one has moved on, but :) ) All have different styles, and all are super nice. Plus there's the sweetest dog chillin downstairs with the art and staff most the time. Which, I can't forget to mention the art. Soon as you walk in, there's always an amazin amount of beautiful things to look at, along with the clothing and printing shop at the back, so should you want anything printed, the guys are quick and great at their job. read more

OOOOPS! I overlooked reviewing the Fall after getting tattooed in early February.. A thoughtful birthday present from my amazing wife! This was my first time at the Fall and my 16th or 17th tattoo.. Obviously I've been to many shops before and somehow this one stands out. A clean, ginormous space. Two floors. Rad art and even radder artists. I recieved my most beautiful ink to date from the amazing Kay Abbott. What talent and not mention the most chill person who ever stuck ink on my skin. He's definitely going to be doing my next piece, and the one after that, and the one after that.... GO THERE! *Update: Kay is now working at Adorned Precision Body Art on the Drive. read more

Recently I got my second tattoo here and the whole process just reminded me of why I chose to get tattooed here in the first place. With skytrain malfunctions I came late to my consultation by over 2 hours and the staff was very understanding and nice. My artist (shwa) still came to talk to me and was super patient and thorough. Even though his shift was done he took the extra time out to fully hear what I had in mind and I appreciate that. On the tattooing day itself I was a little nervous as I know the ribs are a tender spot. Together we went over the design size and placement and he made sure I was as comfortable as possible, giving tips on how I can help him achieve clean lines. Overall one of the most comfortable tattoo experiences one can have. At the end we loosened up and he was wonderful to chat to. the work he did was SO clean and beautiful. Hands down an amazing artist with professionalism and great people skills Love this establishment, you can feel that all employees care deeply about tattooing as an art and profession. 10/10 read more

Earlier this year I decided at the age of 30 to have my first tattoo done after years of consideration. Being new ish to Vancouver I did my research on various shops and decided on The Fall. The online portfolios are great and continually updated and helped me to choose Sean to do my piece. Had a rough idea of what I wanted and some bad sketches i did when i met with Sean. He was great from the start, very enthusiastic and helped me to develop the idea. It took a few months to get in for my first sitting, but was worth the wait. With this being my first tattoo ever, Sean was great to work with and did a fantastic job. Did an 7 hour sitting for the first one in December '14 and 2 other short sittings to finish in January. Incredibly happy with the work that was done. Have recommended The Fall to other friends and have one friend starting a piece there in the coming weeks. My only negative is that Sean is simply terrible at replying to emails, though he is very up front about that and definitely isn't a deal breaker. All around was a very good experience and my shoulder armour piece looks great. read more

I told them my preference for colourless tattoos with clean lines and they introduced me to to the perfect artist for my taste. We sat and I explained what I wanted. The artist's enthusiasms over what I had described gave me confidence. His design was perfect based on what I had described. I was in the chair one day later.
