It is wonderful to see. It is worth the money to come visit! Kids love it and adults do too. Besides the beautiful rescue stories and gorgeous creatures living here, the nature walk and look out tower is another fun experience! There is a netted trampoline that is many feet up towards the back of the nature walk. It gives kids cool views of down below and is fun to prance on top of! The look out tower walk up is a great work out for the adults and the promising view up top is worth it. The gift store has some lovely treasures as well. I hope we can visit again soon!

I learned discipline, respected, and compassion. And beyond that, I came in to dance without any flexibility or coordination and now, I am in the most Advanced level of dance at my high school. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Proctor Academy for high school. I had…read moreactually gone to Milton Academy for my freshman year - but it wasn't the right fit-vibe for me. It was too impersonal. At proctor, it's a much smaller school so you really get to know everyone. It was only 310 students when I graduated in 2000. The thing that makes proctor amazing: Excellent teachers, 2000 acres of land in which to go hiking, snowshoeing, cross country running, learn about the woods, maple syrup shack, we have our own lodge on elbow pond, our own blackwater ski mountain with lifts and a lodge.... I could go on and on. The brand new state of the art recording studio and performance center are amazing. The facilities just keep getting better and better. Proctor is a great school especially if you have special learning needs. I had a hard time getting a grip with hyperactivity as a youngster, and with 1 on 1 attention, I went from getting Ds to straight A's. I got my learning style down and I was able to excel independently. Proctor also offers really good abroad options. Mountain Classroom, Ocean Classroom (I did this one - sailed a tall ship from boston to puerto rico - amazing), France for a trimester (did this too), Spain, Costa Rica... all paid for in tuition. It sounds corny but some of my best friends are the ones I made at proctor. Everyone was like family. I couldn't have gone to a better school for me.

To THINK, they knew I was to return there after my surgery and TRUST ME, I could have died from getting an infection from the filth! They knew ahead of time all about my health issues, that I needed a walker and they stuck me and my dear friend in the filthy BASEMENT!!!! I was PROMISED WE WOULD BE ON THE FIRST FLOOR. A BASEMENT IS NOT THE FIRST FLOOR!! I kept jamming my foot on this plastic piece under the leg of the bed. When I asked the manager, Ann? She casually said "oh those are bed bug cups, & she added that's the way of the world!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? The heat did not work only partly, and if there had been a fire? I could not of gotten out! I do not believe their very steep stairs are even up to code!!!! AND I CANNOT CLIMB STAIRS!!!! IN front of each bedroom door? They built up wooden blocks so the door might keep a draft out??? IT LOOKED LIKE A THREE YESR OLD TRIED TO BUILD BLOCKS AND DADDY HELPED WITH THE NAILING OF THAT MESS!! YOU COULD NOT KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS SAFE BECAUSE THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK IF YOU LEFT!!!!!I have to continue to heal from my surgery, BUT I AM NOT DONE RINGING THE ALARM. I called the police to ask, were me and my friend in a homeless shelter?? A drug recovery house. We were both afraid to fall asleep. It was simply GROSS! They mislead people. I shall continue on calling and informing not only the correct officials, BUT the public needs to know, just STAY AWAY!! They promised an onsite emergency worker and all you see is a permanent resident roaming around yackkng and yacking to/at the guests. It has been a long time but we have never given a review. We thought it was about time when we read…read moresome wonderful reviews in the recent newsletter. We stayed in 1995 when our son was 11 months old. He needed surgery very early in the morning so David's House was suggested to us. We were so grateful to have this place to stay. Everyone was kind, helpful and hospitable. The rooms were spacious and we were able to use the refrigerator for anything we needed. It is wonderful to know a warm and caring place like this exists when you have the need.
