What a nice surprise. I was honestly hoping for just a decent breakfast after a long morning ride and figured this would be a greasy spoon. I was wrong. This is a quality restaurant that puts together some awesome food and does the details right. They serve the coffee cup on a dish which kept the table circle free. This was a nice old school touch. Fresh cream was brought with the coffee and was kept full throughout my time there by a very nice server. The chorizo burrito was the best one I've ever had. It was completely stuffed with the goods too. Although I was here for breakfast, they had some awesome looking pies. Since I'm a ways away from coming back (and can't keep it cool on the motorcycle) I decided to have breakfast dessert. Glad I did as it was amazing. Excellent food, well worth the wait... this is a small cafe that was very busy on this particular Saturday and in spite of being overwhelmed by some very rude and obnoxious clients, the staff were very efficient and meticulous in their preparation and service. One customer in particular, we'll call her "Karen", brought the one waitress on duty (and before you say they should hire more staff, remember this is a very small community and a very small restaurant that is trying to make a go of it) to tears with her unreasonable and demanding tone. I really felt for the wait person, as well as the other two staff doing the cooking as the customer seemed to have left without leaving a tip or paying for the food they had eaten. This little spot tucked away in Metalaine Falls is amazing, probably the best restaurant I've ever eaten at in the Cusick/Ione/Metaline Falls area. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. Seems to be a family run place and they put that extra bit of care into their food. I had the Biscuits and Gravy and it was straight fuego. Best biscuits and gravy I've had in a long time. My wife had the chicken fried steak and loved it. We shared the pulled pork fries and they were bomb too. Everything was good and freshly made. Super cute cafe. Drove u on a rainy day and stopped in for a cup of tea and a piece of apple pie. Several darling country tables and a small counter bar to sit at. Nice touches like a doiley under my tea cup and a sprig of parsley. Perfect spot to warm up. read more

My husband and I received a recommendation by our motel owner to come here for breakfast. It was a good recommendation. It's a small town restaurant surrounded by beautiful scenery. The feel of the restaurant is a country kitchen. I had eggs and hash. What I appreciated, being on the road with no opportunities to take leftovers, was that the portions were reasonable. Holy smokes, this restaurant serves a mean breakfast. I came in a party of four the morning we finished a section hike of the PNT, stinking to high heaven, and the waiters immediately sat us without question. They must be used to fragrant hikers, as they didn't bat an eye at our voracious eating habits or murmurs of "Oh my God, this is the best meal I've ever had..." Once again, y'all came through. Charming little diner, with the owner working the counter and cooking. She's a good cook! Home-made bread and pastry options, as well as a newly-announced espresso machine. The food was delicious! I had the special, BLT with avocado and a cup of salmon chowder. The atmosphere was pleasant so we stayed for more conversation and pie. The pecan was tastey and I bought a slice of each (blueberry, pumpkin, pecan, and banana cream) to share with my family... and cookies and the coffee cake. Thoroughly mediocre in every way and fairly expensive to boot. This is a crumbling/dying town and I wanted this restaurant to be good as this town is really in a tailspin and needs something great to attract visitors and to bring me back. It looked kind of cute from the outside but didn't meet expectations inside. Service was mediocre and somewhat disinterested (server told my wife she could check on ingredients in a dish my wife asked about ordering (question was basic and she should have known) versus simply checking with cook). However, she did nothing. A $13.00 jalapeno and sausage omelette better be somewhat special and mine was not. Hashbrowns were mushy and undercooked. My wife's croissant was ok. This restaurant is really the only option in the area and that is probably the only reason it is still open. How much longer is the question. My family and I went in while two younger girls were working and they were talking about us to each other, loudly making fun of us, and being rude. We kept a friendly face because we don't believe in being rude to customer service workers because it is a difficult job, but these two girls were unprofessional. It was a fun culinary experience. The sausage gravy was REALLY tasty and had ample chunks of sausage. (I hate gravy that has no meat and tastes like flour.) The pan biscuits were soft and fresh.
