Their deli is on point the guys running are very knowledgeable about meat and the deli sells sandwiches at a reasonable price. I had the honey turkey sandwich and it was great!

Saddest all time sandwich. Returned for refund. It appears they have hired untrained rookies.

We just moved to the neighborhood and my toddler was very hungry so we walked into the farms for the first time. We were immediately greeted by Sean, the owner, who treated us like family. Never have I experienced in this area such a small town feeling. He walked us to the store and even gave my daughter a free apple and chocolate milk to welcome her to the neighborhood! The personalized service where they know you by name is unprecedented in Southern California. I encourage you to visit this wonderful place!

Off Montana's beaten path is The Farms. A years ago, walk-to when I lived close by for the freshest of veggies and meats or the recipes' missing ingredient, it is good to know this neighborhood market is still going strong. Lunch was my driving factor after unsuccessfully foraging for parking further west. Find plenty of free spaces on Montana Avenue (be aware of street cleaning days though), as well as, in the lot behind The Farms. Made fresh, to order, a popular, name brand smoked turkey on sourdough with everything, big enough to share, only $6.95 was up before I had time to snag bottled water. Enjoyed half at a quiet sidewalk table along with other neighbors in the know, wrapped the rest for dinner. All my lunchtimes should be this easy, this peaceful!

I've been shopping here for over two years, and this review is long overdue. My biggest complaint in the past was the lack of cell service due to the store being located in the basement. It was frustrating not being able to text or call my wife to check what we already had in the fridge, which often led to overbuying--though that's never really a problem at TJ's since everything is so delicious. The great news is that they now have Wi-Fi, which is a total game changer for this location! I'm a huge fan of their sheet cakes; I always pick one up to share with my co-workers. Trader Joe's consistently delivers quality products, and on the rare occasion I've had an item go bad before opening, the staff has been incredibly helpful and happy to exchange it. The team here is friendly, efficient, and always provides a great shopping experience.

This is a funny grocery store. The co-op is a Santa Monica institution from the old days when the…read moreneighborhood had strong community values, although it's always been expensive and a class statement to shop here. It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!

It's good -- and at that price point, with all that collagen and "good stuff," I'm hoping I walk out glowing. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake disguised as a wellness drink, and honestly, I get the hype. If it makes me look snatched, even better. Now, the store itself... this place is packed. The parking lot is chaotic with tiny spaces and valet -- very LA energy. Inside, the grocery store is small, compact, and filled with people. No dogs allowed inside but they are allowed on the outdoor patio. They have a clean bathroom in the back for customers. The smoothie/café line was long, but they text you when your drink is ready, which helps. While waiting, I wandered to the hot bar -- also overpriced, but honestly delicious with tons of options. Way better than any Barons, Whole Foods, or Lazy Acres hot bar I've tried. The store carries lots of unique brands and has a huge beauty/skincare/supplement section. There's even someone at the front greeting people and offering samples. Outside, there's a patio for eating. Overall, it's a cool experience -- definitely overpriced, but fun to check out at least once. And it's in a lovely area, which makes the stop even better.
