The decor and uniforms, old posters and photos and period music throw you straight into 1950s America. It's such a shame the sea wall opposite obscures the view of the sea! As far as food is concerned, the Bobby Jo's team also know their stuff when it comes to burgers. Their offering is made on site to a Bobby Jo's recipe, and it's fantastic. Good beef has been used, and the patties are fat and well seasoned. Each time I've dined here, the burgers have maintained their standard and flavour. You can have a classic burger, but their San Fransisco option is equally delicious. The standard fries eaten on my most recent visit weren't up to the previous standard, although my companions adored the curly fries. The milkshakes are out of this world, and come in all sorts of flavours while worth the wait, I did feel the service was a bit slow when it came to the shakes. We didn't get them until we'd started eating. Also, I felt the young waitresses could have done a better job of throwing themselves into the spirit of the place. They were quite lacklustre in their bearing, and a bit sloppy our table was not laid until we were served our food, and there were no condiments until requested, despite every other table already having them. I'd have given an extra star if the girls were as good at service as the main man (I believe him to be the owner). He was fun, cheeky and clearly loving his job.

After getting a parking space which took a few goes around the car park due to the sun shining and Southend being full of things to do, we managed to get the last table in there! Myself and the partner in crime both had Rodeo Burgers, cheese, bacon and onion rings on top of a 6oz. burger, which was amazing! I got curly fries and he got normal fries, and we left our plates empty! One of our party was veggie and she loved her veggie fajitas, so we were all very happy with our food choices! The atmosphere was really nice and it's great to see a local family business doing so well. I'm sure the stunning Cadillac parked outside may have something to do with it, there were constant crowds around it taking photos as it shined in the sun! I can't wait for my return.

The service is excellent, and the staff will check to make sure your order meets your expectations. There is ample seating in the restaurant, though it does tend to get a bit hectic during the evening's and weekends, though this doesn't affect the service. The only downside is there's no parking available for the restaurant, but there are many places to park and pay nearby, (this doesn't really affect me as a non-driver). The music and lighting in the restaurant is just right for my liking, and you can easily sit with a group of friends and hold a conversation without having to yell at each other.

Once a week we would take the kids and go out for lunch at Frankie and Bennys, the food was always amazing! The burgers were to die for and the kids loved their spaghetti bolagnaise! All their food was reasonably priced to, i think only once we ever had a problem with food in there and they were very quick to sort it out and gave us one of the meals for free without us asking. The staff are always well dressed in uniform, happy, polite and very quick. You never have to wait long for a table and in mid week there is no waiting around at all. They do have music playing in the background but it is at just the right level for you to be able to hold a conversation while eating also. They do occasionally have little events there aswell i remember a couple of years ago they had a free christmas party for children all you paid for was the food and drinks all the entertainment was free and the kids loved it. The restaurant itself was always clean and tidy, you would never have to wait long to have plates cleared away from the tables. On the whole it is good food, reasonably priced, great atmosphere and even the chance to learn a little i think it was Spanish when going to the loos! If you go there make sure you try the potato skins with cheese and bacon with the sour cream dip ~ its gorgeous!!! Highly Recommended!

The most satisfying aspect of the restaurant was actually the décor, which was in the process of being zealously scrubbed clean on my last visit. Unfortunately, the food isn't up to the same standard, being bland and overpriced. On my first visit I opted for the "open" mushroom burger and chips. At £8.50, I had expected something of gourmet quality. What I received was a rather tasteless meat patty and supermarket-grade thin-cut fries, which were just about cooked. For a lot less, I could have bought a burger meal at a competing fast food restaurant, albeit not on a plate with a knife and fork (another point of contention I had was that the cutlery didn't appear to be particularly clean). Against my better judgement, I returned more recently and had the 'Wimpy Grill' (consisting of a burger patty, sausage, fried egg and chips), which was a slightly better experience although still considerably overpriced for what you get. Also there was quite a long wait for food to arrive on both visits (around 25 minutes). The staff were friendly, although the demeanour of the person at the till (who appeared to be the manager) left a lot to be desired, and a contribution to the collective tip jar seemed to be expected. Both times when I have eaten here, the restaurant had been about a quarter full. Considering how close the tables are crammed together, I wouldn't like to be eating here when it's full. Despite the forementioned interior decoration, the atmosphere was dull and grey, like a motorway service station or a hospital restaurant. Overall it could do with a lot of improvement besides cosmetic aspects; I wouldn't recommend eating here except as a last resort.

I said to her 'what did you say to me' I went back a few days later and I never had an apology from the girl. It is always good food, I have been there for years. It was that member of staff that let me down that day. I will return to this restaurant but not as often as I normally do.
