I've only been here once, but that was enough to make a lasting impact on my life.
My theology professor wanted the class to be exposed to different religions and different types of worship services. So one Thursday, at 7:30PM, all her classes had to attend The Feast. I was one of her students who went to the service thinking, "Here we go again doing things because it's required." I had no idea that I was going to leave the service promising Christ that I'll be back in church every Sunday.
It's not the usual Catholic mass that I'm used to. It's more like a Christian service. They have praise and worship. And the people who have been going there for some time now really get into the praise and worship. They clap, they dance and they even cry. After that, a preacher (or lay minister?) goes up front to give a message. Yes, it's not a priest but a leader in their church who goes up to preach. What I enjoyed about the message was that I could actually relate to it and it dealt with real life problems and situations that I really was in. After the service, snacks and coffee are served. The ushers invite the new comers back and get their contact information. Those who have been going for some time catch up with their friends.
This place feels like home. And maybe one day I'll go back to The Feast. read more
