Don't do it! It was Sunday so we called ahead to make sure they were open. We walked into a completely EMPTY bar and the owner said "NINE?!" Wish you would have told me that when you called. The waitress was lovely, shrugged her off and said, "follow me". She seated us and was pleasant through the entire experience. We just ordered two burgers, a few fried appetizers and two bowls of pasta. As the apps were delivered, owner comes back out and says "it's going to be 30 minutes" for those two bowls of pasta. She also added, we have been dead since noon (why do we need to know that?!?!) Well, 1) as the place was still completely empty, please remind me why you couldn't have started the pasta before the apps? 2) cooking pasta only takes 8 minutes - NOT 30. 3) she obviously wasn't happy we were there. 4) half of the apps we ordered weren't available. 5) spinach and artichoke dip is just FLAT OUT disgusting and was served cold. Summary: GREAT waitress. She smiled through it all. If the owner doesn't want to take a party of 9 on a day when she's had zero customers? This place won't be open in 6 months. WORST FOOD EVER. I should have listened to my daughter when she read some of the reviews. Place was not crowded at all and service was ok, not great but ok. Ordered our drinks first and was told they were out of raspberry vodka so my wife had to rethink her drink. Honestly who runs out of raspberry vodka? Ordered our food and they ran out of sweet potato fries so there is that. My son and his friend ordered Philly cheesesteaks. Came back and told us they were out of them also. The Caesar Salad was disgusting. Lettuce was old and stale, the croutons (all two of them) were good, almost no dressing, no cheese. The sweet potato fries were good. The ranch tasted like blue cheese dressing. My 10oz ribeye was ordered Medium Rare but cooked Medium Well-Well Done. No pink and it was tough, but still moist in the middle at least. When I brought the steak to the wait staff attention, she went to ask if they could cook a new one and was told they could but it would be behind everything else in the kitchen which was really backed up... not out toward the front of the orders to correct their mistake. Giving a 4 star rating because the Cheeseburger was one of the better burgers we've had in a sports bar. 1/3 pond of quality beef that was a nice thick patty that went to the edge of the bun. Nice setup with it as well. The fries were not too greasy.. Rueben was okay. The meat was thickly sliced instead of wafered, which as a result made it harder to eat. The ratio of meat, kraut, and sauce was off. Meat overwhelmed. Homemade chips were good. Atmosphere is good, lots of screens for watching the game. Changed it to the game we requested. Nice selection of beers and spirits that are locally brewed and domestic to choose from. They are happy to provide you with a sample of locally brewed beverages. Good place for groups, couples or a group of friends going out. They have a pool table, dart board and other electronic games. We'll be back. read more

Stopped in on a business trip. Came in at dinner time and ordered wings, meat lovers pizza, and a Long Island as well as a water. I can say the Long Island was one of the best 5 I've ever had, and they do NOT skimp on the liquor. The wings were also amazing, and they were happy to oblige my request for half mild and half Garlic Parmesan... The meat lovers pizza was excellent for a thin crust pizza... but I would have preferred a nice pan / thick crust pizza. Service was equally as great as all other aspects and my drink was always full with no need to ask. The atmosphere is very nice for a sports bar... not too loud to enjoy a meal by yourself. Q: What makes scraping chewing gum off underside of an airport bar and eating it seem appealing? A: A visit to the Fieldhouse in McPherson, KS! We live here in McPherson and were happy when this place opened a few years ago. I understand that it's owned by the owners of some of the nearby hotels. It makes sense for them to provide a captive dining experience for their guests. Under these circumstances, we have eaten here several times with muted expectations. They certainly don't expect to ever see a large percentage of their customers a second time, and the consistency of the food and the service reflects that reality. This has been a reasonable tradeoff. Until today. We were running a bit late so I called the restaurant and was told they were open until 9pm. Arriving at 8:30pm is tight, but should be okay. It wasn't crowded so we sat at the bar and were greeted by a curt woman who looked to be dressed for landscape work rather than bartending. She took or drink order then disappeared for a bit. After several minutes (was about 8:40pm by now) I asked for menus, as we had come to eat and it was approaching closing time. This is when we were informed that the kitchen had closed at 8:30 and was no longer accepting orders. As she told us this, staff were carrying finished orders to other customers. Why did the sign on the door describing the new hours not mention this? Why did the server not mention "Oh...by the way...the kitchen just closed" as we ordered drinks? I'm unsure if its just a surly, ineffectual staff or a scam (pretty sure its the former) but either way today is our last ever visit to the Fieldhouse. I would recommend any of the following as superior alternatives: 1. Hunger. 2. Gas station Sushi. 3. Expired lunch meat. 4. The aforementioned chewing gum buffet. This is sad. It didn't have to end this way and every now and then it was genuinely good. Unfortunately, a business can only abuse its customers so much before they quit coming. When it first opened we loved it and frequented it often. Over the last few years, each time we have gone the service was incredibly slow (as in over an hour wait after ordering). Given a choice between it and the Applebees across the parking lot, this place wins every time. Plus, try the local brews Had the cajun pasta. Solid. Chicken strips across the table. However, my dinner companions thought that the bread was overdone and too hard on both of their meals. My dad didn't enjoy the taste of the beers either. Sigh..I really wanted this place to be one of my spots in little old McPherson, but it's not. The place is nice and big, great decor and what it seems like a good bar, however the food doesn't match. I've tried it three times and haven't enjoyed my food once.heres my break down. Setting: 5/5 The setting is the main reason I'm giving it a 3/5 and not lower. It's located right off of I-35 in a big parking lot. Really big building, always clean and busy. I've had to wait to sit almost every time even though there's always plenty of seats. Customer service: 3/5 The service is "ok". Most of the wait staff are college kids so I take it with a grain of salt. They do well with explaining the menu but take long in between follow-ups on the table. One young lady argued with us about a obvious burnt burger. Food: 2/5 I've tried XL wings, turkey burger and the Ruben. The Ruben was the only bright spot and it wasn't even mine. The wings were undercooked, and to be a sports bar that should be a staple. The turkey burger was very dry and hard to eat. The Ruben was very good actually. But the fact it was someone else at my table who happen to get something good is upsetting. The atmosphere seems like it would be fun for watching a game or meeting friends. The signature pulled pork sliders weren't anything special and the service wasn't anything exceptional. The wall that surrounds the bar area means servers have to really be checking back because there is no line of sight to signal you need a waitstaff. Be prepared to wait... But our biggest question is, do they take pride in their food or is it just a place to drink? Checked out the new place in town. Nice place. I had the pork T and my wife had the Ruben sandwich. Pork T was a real piece of pork breaded and fried to perfection. Delicious. Helped my wife finish her Ruben it was very good. Daughter had a salad with chicken and she enjoyed it as well. Kids meal came with cookie for dessert. The waiter was very new but gave excellent service. The manager checked on us. My Grandson was checking out the game area waiting on people in the restroom. A waiter gave him a dollar to play a game. We ate here last night and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes with Brown Gravy with a House Salad. The 1st thing they did was bring the salad out at the same time as the main dish. Then the brown gravy was like a grey clear liquid and the chicken fried steak tasted like it had been in the freezer for a week with the bag open. This place has failed to improve in the slightest since May. There's a 50% chance that they get an order right. Technically, this should place should get 0 stars for being a sports bar and not having the NFL Sunday Ticket. It's a 4 star place based on the quality of the food; if you get it in a timely manner (seems at times they are terrible understaffed) and exactly what you ordered. From Indiana and only stopping in Kansas to help a friend move here to wonderful McPherson, but found this gem on our first night here! Service was fabulous, food was delicious, atmosphere was marvelous, and the beer was phenomenal. Our server was so friendly and helpful and even after our 12-hour drive, we felt calm and relaxed and were able to joke around with both our server and the manager.
