There were people seated at various tables and a pretty long line waiting ready for their orders, and as this was my first time, I was waiting behind somebody who then told me that this wasn't the line for ordering and to walk up to the counter which I did. I ordered a large latte with cinnamon, a croissant for chocolate chip cookies and a heated cinnamon roll. All this took 20 minutes to get. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed by the amount of people and took very long time to fulfill the order. Which was unfortunate because the coffee is actually pretty good, and it looks like they have a lot of events at this space that would be fun to come back to. I'm confident that anyone could find a drink they love here. As a surprise bonus they also had a big food menu! I've had several pleasant experiences at The Fine Grind over the past few months. The place is large with plenty of seating and plugs, which makes it a great spot to work remotely. I typically order a hot or iced black coffee, and I've always enjoyed my drinks. However, my most recent visit was quite disappointing. I decided to stop by after some appointments to get some work done before my next set of meetings a few hours later. There were maybe 3 or 4 others in the shop. This time, I didn't order anything as I wasn't thirsty or hungry - I fast and only eat once per day. After taking a seat, a woman approached me with a menu. I politely accepted it and set it aside. I was approached two more times asking if I'd like anything, and I declined. Then, about an hour later, I was approached aggressively for a third time by the same woman who presented me her business card, stating she was the owner. She asked if I was only there for the free internet and told me that it hurts small businesses if I don't order anything. I was encouraged to leave. Due to how I was spoken to, I didn't bother to mention that I was a frequent paying customer. I packed up my things and have vowed never to return because of that interaction. In my opinion, the situation could have been handled much better, but perhaps she was stressed or bothered by something else. I will pray for her. I have nothing bad to say about the employees or the service I've received before, and nothing bad to say about the beverages I've enjoyed. We are never a fan of chain café or Starbucks for that matter. We got to know this from google and decided to try it out. We were meeting here with some friends. The vibe is quite cool, paintings, canvases are hanging on the wall and they are also up for sale. The place is beautiful very warm and inviting. Great cafe to go to with friends They don't have a typical menu consisting of traditional coffee, hot chocolate, mocha, and some crumb cakes. They have a wide variation in the menu from ample options in coffee to diff types of snacks, cakes, bars, sandwiches, panini. They also have a breakfast menu which goes all day long. We ordered cheesecake, Tiramisu cake, egg in the mug, marshmallow hazelnut coffee, Smoothie. The only thing disappointing was cheesecake. Stopped here for a warm up after a chilly walk. Upon walking it, the setting was exactly what I like from my coffee cafe's that meet Starbucks and then raise the bar. A fair amount of seating but a nice variety - this includes a loungey couch. stools for some elevation, and standard chairs. There is art work within the café for sale and café swag from Fine Grind as well as independent artists which fits right in here. As for the menu. Plenty of teas, coffee's, expresso's and desserts to get down on. The fresh baked scone was really good and they even heat it up and bring it out to you! Starbucks do that? Maybe if you sweet talk the baristas. There are also sandwiches and wraps that you'd expect at a café. The Fine Grind's location is part of a small strip mall so it doesn't scream cafe on a hip city block in a neighborhood, but it's all there. I order a couple hot chocolates and a cookie for my son! I received one of my drinks and was forgotten for 25mins as i watched other customers come in and overwhelm this lady! See knew I was there waiting and continued to make other orders and not fulfill the ones waiting! After 25mins and a sorry, i had already finished my drink and the other hot chocolate was made1/2 ass, lacking marshmallows like the kids like also his cookie! i think i will never visit this place again! ***3 1/2 stars*** I live in the same town as the Fine Grind, but despite going through a few mild dalliances with it, I usually end up going somewhere else. A significant reason for that is because it's in a slightly inconvenient area for me across town on 23 near Willowbrook (this is probably super convenient for a lot of other people, to be fair) that requires crossing traffic and a number of stoplights. I'd rather use the back roads to go to Cedar Grove in a pinch. Also, their hours aren't accommodating for an early riser like me - I tend to drink my morning coffee around 6am, and this place doesn't open until 8am on weekdays and 9am on the weekends. They're also open later though, and I recall getting an espresso drink here right before a 2015 Mets World Series game, which was very helpful. It's cuter inside than you would assume driving by the strip mall it's housed in - it manages to toe the line between a Starbucks vibe (the decor is very reminiscent of the iconic coffee establishment, from the numerous seating options to the significant merchandise section by the counter) and a small mom and pop business. It doesn't feel quite as comfortable as Cedar Beans down 23, but it's also a slightly different vibe. I don't think they have the same type of space to have an open layout, almost like a substitute living room, that Cedar Beans has. Your mileage may vary in that regard though. Also in terms of layout - and this was not a factor during this particular experience - their scones are in an awkward position on the counter that requires the barista to actually leave the counter area and walk all the way around to get it for you. For efficiency's sake, I'd recommend they let you self-serve the pastries (with accompanying foil paper perhaps to limit potential sanitary drama, etc.). I came here with my Millennial Chum this past Saturday night for an evening latte and a light quasi-dinner for her. There were two or three other customers there but it was pretty quiet. I ordered a rose latte, which was perfectly fine. Some of the flavoring was lurking at the very bottom, so it should have been mixed a little better but it did the job. The Millennial Chum was a little overwhelmed at the size of the menu, understandably so. It's probably one of the biggest I've seen for a coffeehouse. She opted for the cinfully banana oatmeal and a macchiato. Both were enjoyed, and the coffee was compared favorably to Starbucks (which is her go-to). The service for me was good; my drink was delivered to me within a few minutes, but my friend got the short end of the stick. Despite the minimal customer traffic in there, it took her almost five minutes to order. At least part of that is because the barista had to make and serve my latte, and he was the only one working the front. In instances like that, perhaps they should consider letting customers pick up their drinks - if it would have shaved a few minutes off my chum's order, I gladly would have walked back up there. He also spent a little bit of time chatting with someone he knew before taking her order. Not the biggest deal in the world, but given that she was right behind me and I had several minutes to sip my latte before she even provided her order, the priorities there should have been switched. It also took about 10-15 minutes for her to get the oatmeal (it looked like they had one other employee towards the back handling food orders), which strikes me as a pretty long time for oatmeal. So keep that in mind - it makes sense that they'd have what amounts to a skeleton crew on a Saturday night, but the service should have been a little better. Regardless, the barista was perfectly friendly/pleasant. There are honestly a few other places in the vicinity that I'd go to first, but I definitely don't mind stopping by from time to time. read more

I don't know for some reason I always forget to take pictures when I visit but will make it a point to take some next time. They sometimes do have some live music playing which is cherry on the top. They have different different types of lattes, hot chocolates or freshly brewed coffee. Also they have an amazing selection for breakfast sandwiches or some salad. Usually their coffee is too much in terms of quantity so if you plan on getting something quickly then recommend not visiting this place as it would be an insult to the place. The only reason this place gets a 4 star is because one time when we visited may be they had less staff or something, it took them almost an hour to get our order and even after that long wait they messed it up for some reason. Also I am not a big fan of their tiramisu and other pastries. In terms of coffee we have tried everything here and my fav is the S'mores latte and the Diana's. Their hot chocolate and whit chocolate are pretty decent too . It's definitely a nice spot to catch up with friends or just to study or to spend some quality time with someone special!
