I got a chicken shawarma from this place and it was really good. They're owned by the same people as "Al Shami Shawarma" in Paterson. The workers are really nice too. My only gripe is that the restaurant is sometimes closed without being marked closed on Maps, so I'll sometimes order online and then get there to find that the restaurant is closed. The guy working the register was really helpful though, and helped me get a refund. My only other complaint is that the interior is a little cluttered because they sell SO much stuff, from deodorant, to vapes, to chips. Overall good experience for food, just wish they'd put some kind of warning for when the restaurant is closed on the website or an answering tone for the phone. read more

Terrible. Based on reviews here and in a local FB group we stopped in for sandwiches. Got none because "no pork products". Well that leaves out a ton of options on their posted menu! What a shame! I think there are new owners. The menu changed no pork products, NO ITALIAN SUB, NO HAM AND CHEESE, NO TAYLOR HAM ON EGG SANDWICH, NO BACON unless turkey. Business and religion should not mingle. In retail you give the people what they ask for. Personal beliefs should not play a part in inventory. Everyone is still very nice (miss the old staff they made a better sandwich.) It really doesn't matter since I won't be stopping there anymore. The place lost their identity. Used to be Exxon with great food and snacks. Now the place looks like they don't care. The sign is broken and missing, when you walk in, not sure if you are in a pot shop, sandwich place or gas station. Absolutely shocked by the size and quality of the breakfast sandwiches. 3 eggs? Cheese? Your choice of Bacon (had to be 6 slices), TH(4-5 thin slices...crispy!!) or sausage (2 patties!)? Time Out Cafe is deli/pizzeria with seating and all connected to an Exxon gas station of all things. I've been here a couple of times before and the food isn't bad. The pizza looks okay although I have never tried it. I ordered a whole wheat wrap because they were out of whole wheat rolls. They pile a good amount of meat in it but the lettuce didn't taste too fresh. Definitely not enough oil and vinegar and the wrap just tasted dry and bland as a result. Unfortunately they never seem to have their full menu. I've never been here once where I was able to get exactly what I wanted because they were out of one of the items. The location is very convenient since it's right at the corner of a busy area in Wayne. Their menu includes a whole bunch of things that include wings, breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Sometimes they only have one person doing everything so it can get slow, but usually there's at least two people working. read more

I have never been disappointed with the food and service at this place. It's a regular stop for myself and friends after our gym time. Our signature sandwich of egg, cheese, and bacon on a toasted roll is so delicious. And Andy and his staff are always so pleasant. Keep up the good work!! Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese on a roll is literally my FAVORITE breakfast sandwich EVER. As a true Jersey girl, this is what I miss the most when I'm traveling out of State. A lot of places can definitely screw this sandwich up but Time Out does a really good job with it!! I always ask for it with ketchup, mayo and pepper (there's already enough salt in the Taylor ham) on a roll and it hits the SPOT. If you've never had it, you have to try it. read more

WORST SUB EVER! First off I ordered a #10 FROM THEIR PAMPHLET(turkey, ham, salami, provolone) What I got was a #10 their way (turkey & Provolone)!! When I brought it to the guys attention and showed him the pamphlet he was DUMB founded! But.....they remade it to what I ordered. Hmmm the sub, yes very big but big isnt always better first off why does the guy put the lettuce, tomato, mayo, and oil vinegar on the bottom and then pile the meat on top? This place was such a great place when it opened. Price of cold cuts has went up a couple bucks. Sandwiches are inconsistent. This Exxon station was recently bought and renovated. The old station used to have garages and operated a repair shop. They also had a small store. The new owner has converted the garages and small store into a beautifully done store with a deli called, "Time Out Cafe". Their prices can not be beat! $4 for a 7" sandwich is crazy cheap! The sandwich was good but not exceptional. The bread was average. If they had better bread their sandwiches would go from good to excellent. They use all boars head products. The store itself is Impressive. Multiple flat screen tvs, granite counters, clean, and very good Kona coffee. Atmosphere and store design - 5 stars Cleanliness - 5 stars Service - 4 stars (the people operating the deli need some experience. And need to be faster.) Gas prices - 4 stars. This is a 5 star rating except the sandwiches brought it down to 4 stars for me. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but like i said not excellent. His prices can not be beat. So if he can improve on his sandwiches and menu, just a little bit, he definitely has something special here. I will continue to visit this establishment. read more

The pies might be good, but the management & service are awful. One oven. One delivery guy. Ordered 2 small pies and a sandwich at 5pm on a Saturday and by 7pm was still waiting. Calls we're met with scathing indifference and a "too bad" attitude. Never again. This place is a joke. Update: food arrived finally, after 4 phone calls, at 745 and was mediocre at best. 4.5 stars. I've ordered lunch here three times in the last 2 weeks and was pleasantly surprised each time at both the quality and price to value. I say surprised because time out is basically in what would usually be a convenience store of a local gas station. It's not where one would traditionally find an out of this world deli. Granted, it's not a full scale deli with pasta salads and such, but if you are looking for a place that serves a great sub or wrap piled high with fresh meat then look no further. This was my first ever visit to Time-Out located on the Exxon gas station property. It was noon on a Saturday. The decor is fancy especially for a space so tiny. Half the space goes to the workers while there are maybe 7 small table with two chairs each crammed into the location. It's amazing how I counted nine televisions. Contempory urban music played in the background. People started coming in and the place was getting crowded. I ordered the half size Eggplant Parmesan sandwich, the half size New Jersey hero to be eaten later and a fountain drink. The Eggplant was piping hot and plentiful in size not to mention delicious. My hero dinner later on in the day was amazing as well. Too bad I didn't need gas. read more

Been here a few times since it is a literally a 30 seconds drive from where I live. The portions here are huge and definitely meant to be shared. You can get your own custom personal pie or get one of their specialties pies which I recommend. The staff is friendly and there's plenty of TVs around to keep yourself entertained while you wait for your food to finish. Overall, nice little spot to go to that doesn't break the bank especially on a student budget and would definitely been the place to go if it was open back when I was in high school. read more

The food is just OK. It reflects the low prices for their food but if you want cheap eats it's not bad. Beware ordering online though. It's not a real ordering system and more importantly it's not encrypted which means your credit card information is exposed to whomever wants to see. If you make a mistake and can't cancel your order you have to go to the store and present your credit card which is what happened to me. They did nothing to help just said there was nothing they could do and I would have to come in. So I contested the charge with my credit card company and decided to write this review. The first time someone suggested lunch at TOC, I was a little skeptical. It's in a GAS STATION after all. Mark this under "don't judge a book by its cover." The place is spotless inside, including the bathrooms. On to the food...everyone has their favorite sandwich spot. This is North Jersey, competition is steep. This place has become my "go to" spot for a quick sandwich. They use only Boar's Head meats, and they are priced cheaper than if you bought them at the cold cut counter.
