Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon ~it is small, clean, well-organized, and full of great finds. There's a wide variety of items, from clothing, accessories, home goods, and antiques. All in great condition and thoughtfully displayed. It's clear there is pride in keeping the store tidy and curated. Was meeting with a friend in the area but had some time to kill so I stopped by "Upscale Thrift" which was nearby. Figured I could browse their paperbacks and grab a book to read while I waited. There were some clothes racks outside their front entrance which I glanced at briefly. Definitely did not appear "upscale" as their name suggests. But I figured maybe inside would be better. Walked past the dresses section by the door and looked at pricing. Each item is individually priced, which is understandable for small businesses like this. But to price a simple dress for $25 that you'd find at Goodwill for maybe $8-10 seemed a little too steep. Other items seemed more fairly priced for a thrift store, like $5-6 for a top. I'm all about supporting local businesses so I figured I'd find a book or something small to purchase and be on my way. I was in the store probably 2 minutes tops when an older guy said to me, "Excuse me!" I thought he was a customer so I said "Yes?" Was bracing myself for a strange conversation since you never know what to expect when a random person starts talking to you. Had no idea he worked there. He then tells me that I'll need to check my bag at the front counter. I was in disbelief. I was just carrying a simple handbag, no huge tote or backpack. Just my normal purse that I carry everywhere and have never been stopped. I was so surprised by his request that the first thing I said was, "Me?" Like I was shocked that he would even think I'd try to shoplift or something. I guess they have shoplifting issues since there is a sign on their front door about checking in backpacks and large bags. But I didn't think it applied to me since I was just carrying a purse/handbag that's not considered large. I told the guy, "I'll just leave then" and I walked out. I was in disbelief that a thrift store that sells unwanted donated items that are not even "upscale" is having people check in their bags. I would not trust them to watch my purse at the counter, so why would I check it in? Just a bad sign when you walk into a business and want to support them but end up being made to feel like a potential shoplifter. Perhaps if the guy had been very apologetic and said it was a store policy that they have to enforce with everyone, then I wouldn't have been so taken aback. It's a thrift store. I get it that you're trying to make some money by stopping potential shoplifters, but this business needs to rethink how they approach first time customers. Not a good experience. Plenty of local businesses to support that treat their customers better. read more

Such a fun thrift shop to explore! I managed to pick up an amazing vintage Made in USA dress with a style I always go for when thrifting, cute compact mirror, watch, and purse and although I spent more than I usually do while thrifting, these items you really can't find anywhere else, as is true when finding treasure while thrifting. Store has a lot of stuff to look at which I'll spend more time browsing next time. They have clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry, unique vintage home decor and just fun and interesting things to look at that are a part of history. I really like this store. It feels like it's owned by a small family, which I like. I was able to find several hand tools that I have been looking for. They even have some old cameras which are super cool. I even appreciated the way they hand write the receipts! What a fun store! Lots of items to look at even though it is a smaller shop. They have a lot of variety! Prices range from cheap to a little more pricey, but overall, great deals! it does smell really bad in there. I had an unfortunate experience when I went, the black dog came out barking aggressively towards a lady, I froze in fear and got scared we were going to get attacked. The dog then turned its attention to me. owners were in the back not paying attention. the dog wasnt leashed and I dont think it was a service animal because usually those are trained not to act like that. This place is AMAZING!! I went to check out their books and left with 2 amazing pieces of art from local artists at an unbelievable price!! The first is a wood piece, hand carved octopus with dolphins. The second is an iron sculpture on rocks. They buy from Estate Sales and have original local art. Super friendly, the gentleman packed me up and helped me out. It's very rare you can find original art like this, I was so happy! I will be back for sure! read more

I like coming to this store. Yes, it is relatively small (compared to say, a Goodwill shop) but I like that about it. Their prices seem fair to me, in general. They've had some pretty decent clothes when I've been there, some vintage. The people seem nice and their dog is cute too. As for the name, Upscale Thrift, I don't really feel it fits. I haven't found their inventory to be particularly "upscale". However, I do enjoy this store and have purchased a few items at really good prices. PS - Some reviewers mentioned the store smells like smoke, but I've never noticed a smokey smell whenever I've stopped in. I'd like to rate it 3.5 stars read more
