I have visited this place every year since I was born and it has never disappointed me. They have a wide variety of fresh fish and a couple of meet entrées. I love their martini menu as it has a lot of different options and flavors. The restaurant is dark on the inside, but very inviting. The food and the cocktails were delicious. We sat in the lounge. It is decorated festively with Christmas lights which creates a romantic, fun environment. The food and service were great! I ordered the Grilled Alaskan Halibut and it was very delicious, very moist, and it was quite a big portion....probably an 8oz or 10oz cut of fish. I enjoyed it very much! My husband ordered the Pistachio Crusted Chilean Sea Bass and that was very moist, buttery, and delicious as well! I would definitely come back and recommend this place! The service was ok. Our prawns were overcooked and the shrimp in the ravioli was overcooked. Tough and stringy. The excellent creamy garlic dressing they use to have tasted more like creamy Italian. When asked if we got the wrong dressing we were told they had changed a few ingredients. The clam chowder was lumpy and very thick. An old fave that we like to visit when we come back "home" to Peoria. I remember my best friend and I would go here in college on occasion but only during their "early dining special" menu. Felt fancy. Well, this place hasn't changed a bit. Pretty much out of a set from Mad Men. Dim lighting and chill vibe, finer dining but business/casual dress. We last visited in November 2020 as it was our anniversary (we didn't tell them). The servers wore masks and the tables were distanced. Once we sat down we were able to remove masks. It felt "safe". We had the new charcuterie board and that didn't disappoint. We ate the grapes, meat and cheeses and took the cute little jar of fig jam home. We also shared a Caesar salad - I think their dressing is some of the best I've had. It tastes authentic with the anchovies (or maybe I just want it to be). For entree, I had the crab/prawn combo with drawn butter. SO good. Heavenly. He had the grouper Oskar which was fantastic. We have lost about 60lbs total in 2020 so we forgot about our keto mindset and indulged in two of their warm knot rolls each and we shared a side of the augratin potatoes - two things you must have when you visit the Fish House! Since their capacity is limited right now they are taking reservations. Everything was great except the group in the bar got loud and our table was right next to the bar. Next time I will ask to be away from that area, just took away from the ambiance a bit. Also it's difficult to take a decent pic because the lights are so dim but that just makes me keep my phone in my bag and enjoy dinner! Really glad to see this gem in Peoria is still going. If I want a seafood meal with great food but louder atmosphere and heartier portions, we visit their "rival" across the river in East Peoria which I shall not name here but we wanted the quieter, old school atmosphere. Just finished at the restaurant and couldn't wait to write this review. Actually, I can't wait to go back again and order and eat the same thing I just had. I'd never been to this establishment before but that sure won't be the case going forward, God willing. The rolls were warm and fluffy. My salad with Blue cheese dressing with the blue cheese crumbles was excellent. My entree was the blackened halibut with au gratin potatoes. Have you ever had a bite of food where you tasted it and then all of sudden your get a big smile on your face because what you just tried for the first time is so good and you found an item on that particular menu that you'll always order again because it's so delicious? The Fish House has been a family favorite for 4 generations. We have celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations there. The service is always very good and the food is also very good, always cooked to perfection. We get oysters Rockefeller and shrimp cocktail for starters. I love the shrimp platter and my husband gets the prawns or one of the daily specials. The fresh bread, salads, and lobster bisque are delicious. Old school (in decor and smell) and dark inside. Food was better than Jonah's, but the service was abysmal. Had 7pm reservation/call ahead and waited 10 minutes. Waters were dropped off almost immediately. The waiter stopped a few minutes later, said he had to grab drinks for other tables but would be right back to let us know tonight's features then he disappeared. One of the runners stopped to refill my water, so I asked him for bread since I was getting hangry. About 15 minutes after the initial stop, the waiter returned, "Did I tell you about the features?" Umm, no. Luckily, we had ample time to review the menu, so we ordered before he could get away. For both orders, he tried to upsell the hell out of them which seemed desperate. The waiter dropped off the house salads quickly... and another basket of rolls. So dark in there he probably didn't see we already had one. This is my second time here. Would be there more often IF I didn't live in Portland OR! Had fresh oysters to start and calamari. Oysters fresh and firm.
