I was looking for a place to workout when I am in town for work and found The FIT Potato. Initially I was somewhat hesitant, not sure what to expect but glad I made the decision to come in for One-on-one Training and a few classes. I really liked that the classes are small, every time I show up there is only 6-10 people in classes which is great for me and has allowed me to get more help with my form and accountability. I have also done 4 sessions with on One-on-One Personal Training with Coach Francisco so he could guide me and make suggestions so I can keep a routine going when I go back home. This has been priceless, I have never been able to maintain a fitness routine and get to the point where I enjoy it and miss not doing it. If you are in town for work or live in the area and you are seeking small personal classes with lots of teaching and accountable or seek more direction in the form of Personal Training I highly suggest you give The FIT Potato a try. So- I can't really rate this place since I've only tried it out one time, but I will since my experience was one of a kind. I went to the running camp one night at Dublin High School and checked it out. Nice group of about 6 people. Loved how everyone was doing their own thing- working at their own level. I met Coach Gomez and Coach Francisco, who both seemed to have a great personality, easy going and nice to talk to. About 2 years ago I had a Brain Hemorrhage and fell into a stroke - I am 33. I wasn't expecting to go through all of that at such an early age. Although I have recovered fully I am still a little doubtful as to working out. My balance coordination is still a little weak - No one can tell unless you really study the way I walk. Coach Gomez made me run around the track at my own pace - which was nice - but I was really out of breath and tired after the mile. All I wanted and felt like doing was sitting. After he told me to go up and down the stairs of the bleachers (totally not comfy doing this). I started - pushed myself a little but I realized I had to hold on to the side bar since I couldn't walk straight up and down. I actually just stopped and sat out for the rest of the workout. I think both coaches were thinking I wasn't serious about losing weight or working out, but I could care less given my past. THEN.... Coach Francisco came over and started talking to me about just running and stretching and stuff and I was telling him how I do yoga - starting off slowly so I wouldn't hurt myself. He told me that if I didn't run or work out, my husband will get curious of other girls. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I told him, omg I trust my hubby, it's not even like that. So he topped that of with well its not about trust. He will eventually get interested in other girls that are willing to work as hard as he is. I left the fit potato feeling uncomfortable, irritated and somewhat disappointed. Uncomfortable - because who says that really? Irritated - because seriously who says that? Disappointed - for trying to force myself into feeling badly that I couldn't work out to the coaches full potential. I wouldn't try the fit potato unless you like to feel bad and work out at other peoples opinions. read more

I did one-on-one personalized coaching with Francisco Gomez. It was pricey but worth every penny. Here's why: 1) Goals become reality! Prior to training with Francisco, I did 12 marathons. I had one goal - to finish in under 4 hours. Several times I came close but the goal eluded me time and time again. This year, I decided to do something different and signed up for weekly sessions with Francisco. First and foremost, he analyzed my gait and noticed that my right leg was much stronger than my left and that I was tight in several areas. As such, we worked on strengthening exercises and flexibility every single week. I was also injured, suffering from piriformis syndrome and shin splints, so he swapped 2 days of running on the weekly calendar for the elliptical machine. Francisco also ensured I did my long runs slow. If I'm being honest, I wondered how running less and running slow would ultimately help me run faster come race day but I trusted Francisco and his process. In late June 2019, I ran the Missoula marathon, had over a 5 minute PR, and came in at 3:57!!! 2) Family feel - the whole Fit Potato staff is warm, inviting, fun, and friendly. 3) Long term health - some places/people will push you too hard and you end up injured. Francisco and the Fit Potato team challenge you but they also know that you cannot achieve your goals if you're injured. I contacted Coach Gomez because I was new to running and wanted to have a running coach to help me lay a good foundation especially in terms of running form. As a stay at home mom, I train almost exclusively on the treadmill and sometime run with the jogging stroller. I do not have any background in the track sports; in fact I had stayed away from running for a long time because of an injured ankle that I acquired from running the mile in junior high P.E. class that would easily reinjure itself just from daily activities like walking every few years. So once I got back into exercising regularly and discovered that I actually enjoy running now as a 30-something mom, my first priority is to find ways to keep doing it injury free. I searched for and contacted quite a few trainers around this area and Coach Gomez was not only prompt, highly qualified, but affordable. Most importantly, he was most able to work with me given my weird mommy schedule. I am unable to participate in his group training bootcamps at this point and was looking for some one-on-one support that would fit with my schedule. After some back and forth over email, I decided to meet with him for a gait analysis. I will say that it was the best money I have ever spent on running so far. It cost a lot less than a pair of shoes and was a great investment in running injury free. Coach Gomez knows his stuff and I found my time spent with him to be very rewarding already. Coach Gomez actually came out to me to meet with me, which was something most of the other coaches would not do, at least not affordably. He had me run a few laps as warm up and videotaped my running for a bit, then he helped me stretch out and was able to gather where I am weak and have muscle imbalances. He then showed me how to strengthen the muscles where I am weak and show me what a good gait looks like. After our meeting, he followed up with emails documenting his recommendations on my running form and was definitely available to answer questions and offer guidance. He is available via phone and using the Tango app on the iPhone in addition to email as well. It was very fortuitous timing that I met with Coach Gomez when I did because I started to experience symptoms of overreaching due to my lack of rest. By evaluating my exercise regime (which is a combination of home DVD and Hal Higdon training schedule downloaded from the web), Coach Gomez was able to tell me where he thinks the problem might be and will work on getting me a more personalized training schedule. I am impressed that Coach Gomez not only knows his stuff but has a real passion for helping people improve athletically, get better performance beyond just looking good. With his guidance I feel I am on my way to improving my fitness in a guided and balanced manner. read more

Having been a part of running clubs in a few countries, this has been my best experience yet. The coaches know their trade very well, and can tailor their styles and approaches to suit different individual needs. The support between members of the club make running a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. The Fit Potato changed my life. I have never lost so much weight at once and kept it off. I remember joining weight-watchers over and over again. The meetings were insightful, but something was missing. I'd lose about 30lbs and then gain it back 6 months later. I exercised here and there but it was never enough to make a huge impact. I used to think people that said "I'm addicted to working out" were crazy! Now I know exactly how they feel. The best part about this program is that you compete against yourself. Each workout I wanted to improve more and more. I wanted to increase reps, do more sit-ups, to jog and not walk. When I first started, I remember not being able to jog 2 laps around the baseball field. I quickly built up enough endurance to jog around the baseball field without a problem. I remember Coach telling me, "one day you're going to ask me to give you more laps because you'll say that was easy". I was huffing and puffing as he was telling me this and I didn't know if that day would ever come, but it sure did! The day I was able to run a straight mile without stopping was a milestone for me. I had NEVER been able to do that before. The boot camps quickly became my happy hour. I found them to be lots of fun. I was finally gaining speed and enjoying what I was doing for myself. I lost a total of 60lbs that I've kept off since then! I really don't know where I would be today without this program, it literally saved my life and I will be forever grateful to the wonderful Coaches for that. He was super thorough in explaining the problem, the work we needed to do to get back on track. I have been attending classes with both coaches Juan and Francisco for 9 months. I've never been able to stick to a workout routine until now. Both coaches are enthusiastic about health and motivate their clients to reach their goals. It isn't just a workout class, they educate you about why each exercise is important and how to improve your form to reach your goal. I am older than most that want to work out. I went through a painful and protracted divorce but now my child is grown and it's all about me. I had seen the Fit Potato studio driving by and swore many times I'd stop in. Dang, wish I had stopped sooner rather than spending $185 each month for Club Sport that I never went too. I met Francisco and signed up to get personal training. I took the middle package thinking if I didn't like it I wasn't losing much. Francisco started me out slow which I thought...hmmm..I can do this...being in the over 55 group I figured I didn't have many more chances to get my shape back as I had gained a lot of weight through 14 years of divorce (over 100 pds! shhhhh). But there it is... I went through 4 of the sessions and it seemed to be getting harder (what's that about?) Ohhhh I'm supposed to progress in strength as he tells me....so I'm progressing thinking THIS IS HARD!!! So after the 8 sessions I had paid for ...guess what... I signed up for 12 more...and now I can't wait to meet with Coach Francisco. Coach knows what he's doing and I trust him that he isn't going to break me (well, not much anyway!) and I'm feeling so much better..SO MUCH BETTER... He showed me where I was at with weight, age, all that stuff, he didn't promise me like others have except - if I want to put the work in he'll show me how to get there...it was a partnership right then and there. I'm ready if he is... I'm a newbie being 1 1/2 month in but today my 24 year old daughter is asking me to slow down when we walk! I have more energy than I ever thought I would again, I'm seeing tiny muscles (MUSCLES CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?) they are tiny underneath the softness but they're peaking out! - so cute!) As I sit here today writing this I am aching to go exercise ...it's Sunday so I'm going for a walk..(me? walking? seriously?) yes WALKING! Up hills no less! Totally strange since I would just sit on the weekends and do almost nothing. Highly recommend! I worked with Francisco to train for the 2019 Boston Marathon and it was the best decision I could have made to prepare for the race. Francisco was very responsive to my questions and concerns and incredibly knowledgeable about developing a training plan for me. He taught me a great deal about proper training, nutrition, stretching and preparing for the 26.2 miles. Not only did he focus on helping me physically prepare for Boston, but he helped me mentally prepare for it, as well. I have been a member of 'The Fit Potato', and had an excellent experience here. Coach Gomez is very understanding and very knowledgeable. I have spondylosis problem , so Coach Gomez paid special attention and made sure that I was exercising right and not putting incorrect pressure on my neck. He explained me how I could do certain exercise and still not put undue pressure on my neck. The classes are very interesting and well planned. They are planned for all fitness levels.
