Definitely the best selection of shells in the area at very fair prices. We arrived 10 mins til close (not knowing closing time) and the owner was extremely helpful, obviously with a niche for all things of the sea. They have a vast selection of large horns, conchs, whelks and megalodon teeth amongst other things, all individually priced based on condition, size, etc. If you're looking for something to decorate your beach home, or to take home from vacation, this is the place! read more

Drove 40 minutes to this souvenir shop that we thought would have interesting gifts for family and friends. Asked a simple question from an older gentleman I assume who was the owner regarding their products and the authenticity and was shocked at how rude and condescending he was. Found this through locals in St. Pete Beach. I am working on a big craft project to make a mermaid outfit for Halloween. I needed shells, lots of shells. I plan to make a headpiece, a top, and a belt. This place has an amazing selection of shells!!! There were big bags of large or medium or small shells. There were individual shells, there were mini painted shells. Shell nightlights. Wow. And Andy, behind the counter, was so helpful. He was amazing and very knowledgeable about crafting with shells. He gave me some great tips. I also bought fishing netting and a beautiful mermaid nightlight. I asked Andy to package everything carefully for the flight home. I could have spent all day in this store. Stopped by this shell shop to grab a couple souvenirs to take home to family. The shop is filled ceiling to floor with amazing gifts! Upside: This shop is NOT too touristy--the owner is accommodating to the large tourist industry, BUT he has a wonderful selection of shells, star fish and ocean animals for nerds like me and my daughter who love natural history. This would be an awesome shop for young buyers, as they can purchase small treasures for as little as 25 cents. I did notice that the owner pulled out some speciality shells for customers who asked for them. His prices are very fair, much better than other shell shops. Also, his shop is clean and organized well. It feels small because it is packed, but has has quite a large stock of interesting items. Downside: Packed with people! It's busy for good reason, but when you enter be prepared to wait for others before you get over to that special thing you have to see. Also, when I asked the owner some questions, he was a little condescending. He was checking other people out and my questions may have been asked at the wrong time? Middleside: Others complain of parking, we found a spot with no problem. But if you're worried about COVID-19 you might want to wait to visit when the parking lot is empty signifying that the store will hopefully be less busy. read more

As a local, have passed this shop for years and never went in. I finally stopped today to look for shells for hermit crabs we rescued two years ago that are getting surprisingly big. Patrick was great, showed us all the shells (huge selection with everything we could possibly need). Prices were extremely reasonable and better than anywhere else. I'll stop here again for cool house decorations, there were many artistic items. On the way out Patrick gave us a little free gift for the crabs, and we talked for a while about dogs and other animals we had rescued. I highly recommend this shop. read more

OMG!!!!! I absolutely love this store! Linda and her baby dog (don't get mad Linda I can't remember the name). Linda is so incredibly helpful and can tell you anything about anything in there! My daughter is a shell fanatic even though she was born and raised in Florida. There is so many great and unusual gifts in this store. My daughter and I have been 4 times but I just forget to check-in. It may not be a stop on your list but if you are in the area it might be worth your while to stop. Me? What a great shop. My wife, 3 kids and I drove by it a few times and decided to stop in the other day, and I'm glad we did. This shop reminded me of the type of shell store my parents would take my siblings and I when we were kids visiting South Padre Island, TX. We spent about an hour there, talking with Andy and buying a bunch of shells, necklaces, jewelry boxes and other vacation keepsakes. I highly recommend the store. I will say that I really love the Florida Shell Shop. My husband has been going here his whole life and I have been visiting for the past four years. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this store while on vacation. What a find! We were amazed at all the really cool, handmade items for such an inexpensive cost. We purchased a couple of things as Christmas gifts and were anxious to get them back to NY. Well...we accidentally left them in the rental car at the airport and the rental car company wasn't able to locate them. Sad face. So, I called Florida Shell Shop and described some of the items we had purchased over the phone. The gentleman found the things I was describing quickly and is shipping them to my house!
