"I feel sick."
I've been listening to my husband repeat this phrase for the past three hours.
We had a 30-minute wait for our food, and when our food finally arrived one of our group was served the wrong meal. She had a further wait for her meal to be prepared.
There are far too many items on the menu for the kitchen staff to master. Some items were not even close to restaurant quality, like sandwiches that looked like they were made by a university student rather than a chef. Almost everything comes with chips, whether they suit the entrée or not... even my enchilada.
I've eaten many amazing enchiladas in many countries, but I strongly suspect that my enchilada was made by someone who had never actually eaten one. It was really just random vegetables in tomato sauce and put them in a tortilla accompanied with bland, gluey guacamole.
My husband's macaroni cheese dish was overpriced, thick, and oily, and came with bread that was clearly microwaved. His cheesecake was bland, nauseatingly sweet, and soggy, with a sweaty sheen on top. It's the first time I've ever turned down a second bite of cheesecake!
The very dark and dated decor would seem charming and quaint if the food was kickass. And it could be, if the menu was trimmed back to focus on traditional fare with a fresh, modern twist.
One final suggestion: they really need to spellcheck their chalkboard menus! read more
