My company had an event and had The Food Dudes cater our event. They served tacos and the chicken supreme as main and some appetizers. The food was somewhat disappointing. I had the (peri peri) chicken supreme and it was awfully dry. The appetizers were not bad but they were not spectacular. I did like the garlic shrimp out of all the appetizers that served. Hungry for food before some beer drinking at The Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival in Toronto, my Yelp drinking buddy ended up getting a BBQ Pulled Pork on Brioche ($10) to share with me It was not bad but didn't wow me. The pork itself was a little dry but I am never a pulled pork fan. The tempura bits did add an interesting crunch to the sandwich itself. Then a little later in the afternoon after some sampling, I was offered to share an order Nutella Bomb ($5) with him. When we broke up one of the bombs, all these sauce was oozing out and I know he would able to eat both bombs himself. They are just so good! Cornflakes batter deep fried, drizzled with Bourbon Caramel and real whipped cream on the side! 3 star for the sandwich but 4.5 star for the bomb! I think this will be the only thing I will get from Food Dudes from now on!! read more

Stop number two on my first night visiting the TIFF food trucks was to The Food Dudes. From the menu offering this night I chose the Captain Crunch Cod Tacos and the Nutella Bombs. The fish tacos come with a spicy guac, smoked sour cream, and lime spiked slaw and you get two of them for $8. The fish was moist and lightly breaded. The toppings were well balanced. While these weren't the best fish tacos I've ever had, these ARE the best fish tacos I've had from a food truck. The even better part was the Nutella Bombs ($4). These little nuggets of Nutella, banana bread and whipped cream hit the spot perfectly. The balls are covered in corn flake crumbs and deep fried leaving them with a nice crispy texture. The caramel drizzle finished the whole package nicely. Delicious! read more

Ordered the fish taco, the arancini, and the pulled pork. Really nice they also had napkins and a stand for people to rest their food at the Sony Centre unlike the other food truck vendors. The fish taco is to die for and heavily recommended. Still crispy in every bite, it packs the perfect "fish to tortilla" ratio, and packs a mean delicious guacamole that wasn't overpowering, but compliments the dish perfectly. The true standout was the arancini. Not really knowing what I was getting into by ordering it, it truly was the surprise dish ordered. Try them. They are delicious. It is warm, crispy and creamy while still drenched in a mouth watering tomato sauce. The only negative thing to really say about Food Dudes was their pulled pork sandwich. Maybe they aren't fully know for their barbecue, who knows but it was a full on grease bomb. It didn't have that nice barbecue flavour, and just felt sort of dense, and meaty with no sweet compliment. Unlike the fish taco, it was difficult to pick it up to each since there was way too much meat in the sandwich to eat it with its bun. Highly recommended. read more

We wanted to work with Food Dudes for our Celebration of Love dinner party because of all of the great reviews and al though I don't doubt the food is amazing we will never know because of lack of communication. We were assigned an event coordinator and at the beginning after having e-mails back and forth and a site visit we thought it seemed promising but then the lack of communication began. It was weeks at a time before hearing a response back and here we are approaching 2 months before our event and I have yet to receive a reply back regarding resending a pdf document......no menu was finalized, no deposit paid, no further planning was initiated on their end. Needless to say we felt as though our event did not matter and have gone with another catering company - one which communicates and we feel great about. It's disappointing that such a large company that seems so promising in their quality of food and service made us feel like our event did not matter and we had to constantly be reaching out to them for a reply. This may have just been a one off of who we were assigned to but regardless it put us off from working with them. read more

We tried to reach out to this company to inquire about catering our wedding next year and were immediately met with hostility and disinterest. Without inquiring about when our wedding would be, how large it would be, or what our budget was, they immediately assumed we were having a small, low budget wedding that and that we "most likely couldn't afford them." They told us we would be treated as "less of a priority" in comparison to their other events around the time of our wedding, and that they most likely wouldn't be able to give us the time of day unless we were willing to change the date of our wedding to make things easier for them (also keep in mind they hadn't even asked when it would be before telling us we would have to change the date). They made it seem like they would be doing us a favor if they catered our wedding. All we wanted was a nice classy non-traditional wedding, that wasn't just your average sit down plated dinner; budget was not an issue and we would have been more than happy to pay any amount for the right caterer. We thought Food Dudes would be perfect in helping us create a unique dining experience for our wedding. Instead they wanted nothing to do with us. read more

Two words for you people: Nutella Bomb! What is a nutella bomb you ask? Well it is banana bread stuffed with nutella, battered with corn flakes, fried, then topped with fresh whipped cream and caramel bourbon sauce. OH MY GOD, they were amazing. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, stuffed to the max with warm nutella and balanced out by the not too sweet banana bread, this was truly a perfect dessert. 2 good sized bombs for $5? No brainer; my only regret is that I didn't order 6 of them. Whoever created this magnificient feat of caloric excess should be knighted, then canonized. If countries dropped these instead of real bombs the world would be a much happier place where the only thing we would have to worry about is the insulin running out. I also tried their pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun ($10), which was a very generous portion of pork on a fresh bun. I am not a huge fan of pulled pork and this sandwich did not change my mind. The meat was a little dry and lacking any intense smokey flavour. The sauce wasn't overly sweet like most pulled pork sandwiches but it didn't impress either. Next time the nutella bomb can be my main and my dessert :-P The cashier was super nice on this occasion and even recognized me when I went back for dessert. The price tags seem a bit high for street food but these guys don't skimp on portions. This afternoon we checked out food dudes at canoe landing. The menu looked promising... I got the fish tacos. It was good, I wouldn't crave this dish but it wasn't bad. It was basic, I expected more taste. My bf thought it was bland. Their spicy sauce is spicy though, I'll admit to that :) Dave got the mac and cheese balls in a tomato sauce and pesto drizzle. Honestly... Mac and cheese is amazing as is... Some things are better left untouched. It concept was commendable and so was the presentation, but it lacked flavor. I thought it would be filled with more cheesy goodness. The Nutella bomb!! O.M.G. This was a deep fried banana bread with Nutella filled! I'd give this alone 5 stars. I attended a wedding yesterday that was catered by these guys. Everything was perfect. During the cocktail reception, they had servers walking around with little burgers, veggie samosas, little pizzas and Indian-spiced chicken meatballs. It was all delicious, hot and abundant. We had to stop ourselves so we wouldn't ruin our appetites for dinner. At dinner, I told them that I was allergic to dairy (they also knew in advance) and that wasn't a problem at all. The salad starter was absolutely packed with flavour. Greens, asparagus and crunchy seaweed threads in a sweet and savoury dressing. There was probably more to it, but it didn't last long enough for me to really study it. The bread that came on the side was a fluffy and sweet rosemary focaccia of some sort. SO GOOD. For the main course, we had seared rib steak and veggies. The dairy people had mashed potatoes as well, but I had a healthy extra serving of veggies. I can't believe how good the steak was, considering that there was 150 people at the wedding. It was perfectly grilled to medium rare and full of flavour, unlike the majority of steak these days. For dessert, I was expecting the usual fruit bowl that I get at weddings, but they surprised me with a dairy-free (other than butter) brownie with mashed berries. Everyone else got something that looked like a fancy chocolate bar. We were all cooing over how good it was. Service was excellent and they put down and took away plates quickly and quietly. VIBE I was able to try the truck at the Queen Street West Art Crawl. Their music was super loud but it was fun because they had Michael Jackson and Madonna blaring so you felt like you were at a party. It helps because you will wait a bit for your food to come. The dudes need to work out the kinks in terms of organization. I didn't know where to pay for my order or whether or not it had been up so that needs to be streamlined a bit more. I ATE The food here is excellent! I had the slaw, which has steak and calamari. It tastes a lot like Susur Lee's Singapore slaw. It's delicious but a bit too much for me. I heard the cod tacos were great so that's next on the list. I ended it with the nutella bombs and there are no words for how delicious they are. Tried this food truck last night @ the Ex... Bought the Mac & Cheese balls (3 for $9) Decent size portion.. Not enough guac. No flavour in the inside.. Worst of all - why did I find a long black hair stringed inside the mac and cheese?! Too late. It was past 9pm (it was already dark) so I couldn't catch it earlier before I took a bite.. I honestly hate it when I forget to take picture, because a picture says a thousand words. Here go the description of a reuben sandwich ($12 tax included) that I got from The Food Dudes food truck: in between 2 slices of rye bread, there sat 2 inches of sliced smoked beef. The smoked beef was so fresh that my dining partner could see the juice coming out when I sank my teeth in it. He chuckled at the sight of me stretching my mouth as much as possible to bite into the sandwich. The sandwich was held together by a toothpick, but it was no match to the 2 inches of meat. I was grateful that the overflown meat dropped off onto the container, and I picked it up with my fingers and devoured it all the same. I had the delightful pleasure of eating the Food Dude's Smack n Cheese recently on a trip to Toronto and wish I could get something like that back home! It was a tub of macaroni and cheese, topped with something akin to BBQ sauce and panko crumbs. Such a strange mix of flavors that worked beautifully together. I also tried a sandwich of theirs which had meat and pickled veggies that I honestly didn't care for. It was basically just a sandwich composed of grease. The bbq pork sandwich is pretty big, the pork is decent quality, but it's doesn't have much taste to. The fish taco is the same story, you get two decent quality fish tacos for $7, but it's rather small and the fish also lacks seasoning. The fried Mac & Cheese balls are actually pretty good here. Overall the food is ok, but it stands out from the mundane food court meals one get's all the time. So it's worth a try if you see the food truck nearby you. read more

If i was going to a desert island and could only bring 1 food truck, it would be Food Dudes. Seriously they're amazing. I keep trying new stuff every time i've visited their truck and it's always been delicious. Not only that, but their truck looks damn professional, especially compared to some of the sketchy ones you see on street corners. They do catering as well which i can't recommend enough. I've been to several events that were catered by them. They carry the food around on these wooden platters that are a piece of art in and of themselves, not even counting the food on it! At the Metro Toronto Convention Centre they're also one of the preferred food vendors, so when comparing them to the competition there (such as Pizza Pizza), they absolutely blow them out of the water. Attended the Food Dudes 3rd annual Block Party event at the Exhibition Grounds this week. The Food Dudes did not disappoint. The event was a huge success and their food truck menu sold out quickly. We had the fish tacos and macaroni and cheese balls. A Reuben was also on the menu. The fish tacos were amazing! These dudes catered my bridal shower and did an amazing job. Renee was a pleasure to work with, and the food was outstanding. Everyone commented on how delicious it was and argued about what the best canapé was. The servers they brought were knowledgable and friendly and efficient. I was beyond impressed with all the details. Advice: get the French onion soup dumpling ! And the grilled cheese ... and the pulled Duck sliders ... actually you just can't go wrong! Private catering has taken huge strides over the years from roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans, and The Food Dudes are as good as it could get. The food.... oh my... the food! All guests adored their selections, beef tenderloin cooked in a dreadful oven they had to deal with, was the best I'd ever had even at a restaurant. The black cod exquisite. Possibly the best salad any of us had ever had, and a couple of us aren't salad fans, but took the chance and it was glorious. The hors d'oeuvres were unique and unbelievably tasty, as were the sides, the soup, and the cheese plate. Service was out of this world. Loved too that Chef Eric was there cooking, but also explained each of our courses as they were being served. Just an amazing experience! read more

While I think its silly for employees of a company to actually post about how good the food they make is (quite evident here) I must say that while food dudes is expensive, most of the time you will get a good meal, made by professionals and is evident in both the presentation and service you will receive. Was at Comi-Con Toronto and they were there. Surprised cause I had their mac and cheese balls before at Nuit Blanche and liked it. Since I was there early, I got to order minus the line up. This time I ordered the mac and cheese (not balls) which was great. There was this floral taste to it that I can't pin point to what it was, maybe bbq sauce? It def was in there. I also got the beef brisket hash, I prefered this over the mac and cheese. The meat was well flavoured, juicy, and with the bits of potato in there gives it a nice texture. The Food Dudes catered our daughter's wedding at Ward's Island. Jason, the Events Coordinator was wonderful to work with. He took care of all the logistics to get the food and necessary equipment to the island. Peyton, the site manager for the event was absolutely amazing! She and her staff worked very hard setting up of the venue with the tables, chairs and linens, serving the appetizers at the cocktail reception, preparing and serving the buffet dinner and the dessert which included cutting the wedding cake and serving it. The crew was amazing with the clean up as well. It was completed so quickly and efficiently which was not an easy task since all the cooking was done outdoors. They attended to every detail with knowledge, friendliness and efficiency. The food was the best we have ever had at a wedding. The appetizers were delicious, very plentiful and served on beautiful wooden platters. The buffet dinner choices were outstanding. We were very pleased at the quality, taste and presentation of our chosen dishes. Our guests had nothing but rave reviews. They were the most disappointing perogies i've had after paying $6 for only 2. There was no filling in the perogies and there was more garnish and sour cream then perogies.
