The Fort is very pretty. It is a Pete Dye design. So, you get extremely well-designed holes with layouts that catch your eye from every tee box. Each hole is playable and if you are a well-rounded golfer, you can score low here. Lots of birdie holes! The only negative I had was the pace of play on the day we went. read more

STAFF IS RUDE! I tried to buy a range bucket at 5:30pm after driving 25 minutes to get there. Old guy in the pro shop yelled at me to get out after selling a range bucket to someone in front of me... Considering the area around the course is pretty flat, we were pleasantly surprised by how hilly this beautiful course is. The only bathroom is at the turn, they also don't have GPS. Carts didn't have club coverage for rain so we needed to buy umbrellas. The fairways are very tight. Outstanding staff! read more

I love the driving range here, on a sunny day it is beautiful. I will be booking a full day of golf here in the coming weeks and very much look forward to it. The driving range itself is set on a beautiful 300 ish yard piece of grass, and it looks nothing like your regular driving range. It looks more like a gold course. I highly recommend for anyone like me who wasn't confident to take on a full course but wanted to develop my skills. read more

I was a volunteer at the Fort Golf Resort for several months and in exchange for working 4 hours was given one free tee time for the one day I worked each week. I was unable to work my volunteer shift serveral times due to family responsibilities and did call 15 other volunteers each time I had a conflict to see if they could sub for me on those days. None of the subs on the list given to me by the ProShop manager ever agreed to cover my shift. The manager decided to use another volunteer to take my shift which I understood. The slap in the face was that the manager said the tee times I had earned were no longer any good. So if you ever consider volunteering at the course bear the above in mind. As to the course, it is pristine, difficult, and a good challenge for any golfer. The driving range is the nicest I've seen. read more

Nice hidden course on the east side of Indianapolis. I dare say a hidden little gem. The cost was not bad, the driving range and chipping area where well kept and the pro shop is fully stocked with whatever you need. As for the course, you may use every club in your bag for this course. I really enjoyed the challenge. You need to be hitting it straight because some of the fairways are tight and lined with trees, there isn't much bailout area, club down and keep it in the fairway. The area around the greens and the greens are well kept and smooth. They have a couple of 'natural habitat' areas behind a few greens where if you hit it in you take a drop because course rules do not allow you to hit out of it (this helped me a few times!!!) If you are a weekender looking for a challenging but fun course on the east side give it a try. read more

The fairways were in decent conditions but the greens and sand bunkers were just awful. The greens are littered with holes and bare patches. The sand bunkers literally had no sand and tall weeds growing out of them. At the start of the round there were four employees/grounds keepers hanging around the starters box just talking and enjoying the day. After we made the turn, about 2 hours later they were still at the starters box just hanging out. Why these guys were not out taking care of the course is beyond me. It's no secret a lot of retirees work/volunteer here just to play golf. I asked one of the guys why the greens were in the condition they were in, he started griping about the state needing to invest more money. This was a highly recommended course to play, now it's a highly recommended course to stay away. read more

This is a fantastic golf course. Challenging, scenic and in good shape despite heavy volume of play. Ignore any older reviews complaining about condition of course, they simply don't apply. Considering the popularity of the course, I don't think the staff could do any better. The greens are fast and roll true. Not the cheapest course around, but there is a reason for that. Highly recommended, especially for serious golfers. read more

A friend and I decided to play this golf course while we were in town. When we got to golf course the starter was very rude and didn't seem very welcoming. The greens are in terrible shape, ball marks everywhere, and dead spots through the green. The tee boxes are rough as well. The bunkers feel like gravel and not sand. Two selves of the worst golf ball titleist cost 20 dollars. The golf course has a good design, but the conditions of the course itself heavily outweigh this. The worst part of all is that it cost around $65-$85 dollars to play. read more

Beautiful and scenic course located in Northeast Indy. Shots are rewarded with extra distance and even funnel back to center when hit semi straight. Things get rough when misses go extremely right or left but you could get lucky and find your ball sitting on top of one of the hills or within view of the accessible woods. Love the fact that this type of terrain makes you forget you live in the city for a few hours!! read more

One star solely because of the jerk in the clubhouse. Cool morning with plenty of times available. Nobody pulled in the parking lot while we got ready. We go in to pay and the prick at the desk Stephen grilled us about being late even though we still had 5 min to tee off. He said the next tee time was ten minutes behind ours. Road construction caused us to be later than we wanted to be. Instead of saying something and letting it go he continued to be a complete jerk about us not being on the box 5 min BEFORE our tee time. Our last guy teed off one minute after our scheduled time. We had a foursome and by hole 6 a two some caught us and we asked them when their tee time was and it was an HOUR after ours but they let them go a half hour early because it was so dead. The course was beautiful as ever even with aerated greens. The complete asshole in the clubhouse made it unbearable the first few holes bc we couldn't stop talking about it while on the course. Never in my 20 years of golf has someone been such a jerk. Even when we've actually teed off behind schedule at another course I've never experienced anything like that. They weren't even busy and the guy was an absolute prick about us being 2 min behind their "schedule" when there was maybe a total of 5 groups on the entire course. For such a high class course to employ such narcissistic assholes is beyond my comprehension. We were treated like children and it was very unprofessional. A joke. read more

I was in town for the final 4 and we decided to play The Fort, the staff was very friendly and accommodating for all of us. They had our rental clubs ready and got us everything we needed. The course was in fantastic shape as we played the The Brickyard the day before and were disappointed in the greens being punched. We will definitely go back any time we are in town. read more

Bad Experience. 1/2 hour late teeing off, cart path only, over 5 hour round, expensive for the condition of the course. And rude Cart Boy!! Never go back!! People not friendly at all. There are so many nice courses in the area to play this course!! read more

STAY AWAY...... The course was in good condition especially after all the rain that we recently got but the employees at this place are some of the worst I have ever seen. We took a group of guys here that are all responsible, good guys ( Ages between 33 and 67 ) so we weren't a bunch of young guys just going out there to get drunk and act like idiots. We felt like we were all 2 year olds that were being babysat by the neighborhood teenager. Rangers are all over this course and they are constantly watching you and constantly stopping at the cart to tell you your doing something wrong. We paid this course thousands of dollars to Stay and Play for the weekend and the treated us like crap. Concession prices are a little high also so be aware. $4 for a hot dog, come on now, how much profit do you really need to make? Our recommendation would be search around and find a place that will treat their customers with a little respect and not like kids. Plenty of good courses out there that take great care of their clients. Needless to say we will surely not be back to this place and would never recommend it to anyone we know. read more
