The food at the clubhouse grill was great! We had the Detroit style pizza and peach cobbler! They were both fantastic. The service was great and everyone was so friendly. It is in the golf course clubhouse but there are plenty of tables and room. If you're looking for a family dining experience that isn't a chain, this is a great place to go! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME! This is the worst golf course I have ever played. The maintenance is spotty at best. The course ground is hard and scarred by multiple patches of no grass. The bounce of the ball is utterly unpredictable. It's unplayable. There are holes all over the tee boxes and everywhere along the course The design is fatally flawed. It's trackless grassy wilderness where there are narrow fairways right next to each other with unpredictable greens the size of a Walmart parking lot. The greens are also totally unpredictable. It takes one to two minutes to get from the green to the next tee in a filthy gas golf cart that is barely above walking speed. The only way to improve this course is to close it down and build houses like the cheap one surrounding it. Other players will hit balls near you constantly. Sometimes from adjacent fairways and sometimes on the hole you are own. There is absolutely no good feature of this pathetic mockery of a golf course. It's dusty and dirty and generally disgusting. We quit after 9 holes and couldn't wait to escape this mess. AVOID THIS OVERPRICED DUMP!! read more

$50 green fees get you a clubhouse that feels and looks like a converted barn with mediocre food choices, no water coolers on the course and no beer maids (in early August). oh, and aerated greens with clumps of grass cuttings (anyone have a blower?) that would make putting on a Belgian waffle easier by comparison. not coming back. read more

Very nice course. The course is in very nice condition:tees, fairways, greens. The greens are fast! There are plenty of traps and water hazards, but there is usually a general landing area or bailout. There are only 3 forced carries (which I appreciate, since I lost a ball on 2 of 3 forced carries). The layout had a variety of holes. This would not be a course to walk: there are several very long traverses between one green and the next tee. But the good side of that is that there enough space between holes and between the course and the surroundings that nothing intrudes on your game. I paid the weekday senior rate and I thought that was reasonable for the quality of the course. I will definitely be playing here again. read more

My daughter played golf for the first time this year. This was their home course. Staff was friendly and the location was convenient. They do have a nice small restaurant. I love the cold snickers and drinks available. Plenty of balls to find as well. read more

three stars. played this course for 16 years, It is in the worst shape that I have ever played it. Yes the weather has been hot, but the greens are awful! They really don't seem to care! Senior price during the week is $33. Definitely not worth the price. Customers don't fix there ball marks, drive their carts where ever they want. Have even seen 6 somes playing the course. Think they will eventually close the course and sell off land for new homes? Very disappointed! read more

This review is strictly for golf and golf course The course is a good course. Front nine is straight majority of the times while back nine has more dog legs and better pin placements in my eyes but the ground crews must never work as all the greens have terrible divot marking/holes that are never cared for. I don't know if I want to blame the golfers for not fixing or the course grounds crew. Putting on the greens is like putting on a table with sand and rocks. The ball bounces and moves different directions then what you read on the green. It's tough to give 4 stars when 18 holes of greens are rough shape. Not to mention the amount of goose poop on hole 7, Par 3. I just played today and same thing and that's what made me give this review. read more

Chas is the worst wedding coordinator around. Very disorganized, poor planner, and poor communicator in crisis situations. Ie wedding being rained out and having a solid contingency plan that wasn't thrown together. Facilities very unkept, leaking roof, carpet stains, mildew smell and not prepared for weather. We had to ask for the air to be turned on in 90+ degree weather and 90% humidity with storms. Southern dunes staff moved flowers that had been placed for the wedding for their own use. Front desk staff very aloof and not informed of activities coming into the club. Found the planner Chas in the bar having wine while we were supposed to be having rehearsal. Dressed very unprofessional in a shorts romper each night. read more

We recently held our 1st Annual Dean Johnson Memorial Golf Outing here at Southern Dunes. I can't say enough about the help we received from Curtis and his staff from start to finish. We had great feedback from our golfers and we raised a nice amount to donate to Mt. Pleasant Church in Dean's memory. We are already looking forward to next year! read more

Definitely enjoyed my round of golf here. The course was in good condition. A few holes and divots, but nicely cut and maintained. The cart was fully charged. I hate when a cart is about to die rounding the back nine. Luckily that didn't happen at all. I've played the par 3 and the regular course; Both provide a pleasant day out in the sun. read more

I will try to keep this short because there were so many things perfect that I could go on and on and on!! My daughter had her wedding here on July 7, 2018 and it was PERFECT!! We booked this venue a year ago with Chaz and got worried around February because we could not reach her. Finally, we connected with Paige Carson, the new coordinator, and she is WONDERFUL! She was so responsive and catered to our every need. The most impressive part is how honest she was and told us the previous coordinator had over quoted us on several things! It is rare that your total price actually goes down when planning a wedding! LOL. Leading up to the wedding, she was so easy to work with and you could tell she really wanted everything to be perfect! Here is break down of my thoughts of Rehearsal and the wedding day: Rehearsal: Paige was awesome! She helped guide us through the walk through and worked extremely well with our Pastor. We had our rehearsal dinner here as well and the food was fabulous! We did a pasta bar and it was excellent. So much more relaxing than going to a restaurant and the price was so much better as well! Wedding: Oh my gosh! It was so perfect! We arrived at 8:00am to begin hair/make up and the room was perfect for the bride to relax and enjoy. We had mimosas and was able to bring in our own food for breakfast. We had them prepare our lunches and they happened to be grilling that day for lunch so we had great sandwiches, fries and salads. Again, excellent prices for a group our size! The guys arrived around noon and enjoyed time playing with the golf simulators and relaxing. Kurt, the general manager, made a point to meet each person and offer his services. The girls kept saying they love Kurt and he "was their friend"! Paige and her staff kept popping in to see if we needed anything. They were all very attentive! When it came time for the ceremony to start, Paige was right there guiding us and everything ran like clockwork! (later I found out she had to step in with the DJ and provide power cords that he forgot! Never did she bring that stress to me....she took care of it and I never knew!) Decorating Crew: AMAZING! Everything was absolutely beautiful! We simply brought in things we wanted to be used and they took care of it. They also have a backroom full of items that you can use. We used their easels, backdrop lighting and material and material for the arch. It was beautifully done! Food: Chef Jeff is beyond amazing! Never ever have I attended a wedding or large event with such wonderful food! We had plated dinners with choice of filet or parmesan chicken. Everything came out hot and perfectly prepared! We received so many compliments on how excellent the food was! It was so good that we are definitely going to come back for their Friday night dinners! Well, I said I was going to keep this short but well....too many wonderful things to say to keep it short! If you are thinking about having a wedding or a large event, this is definitely a perfect spot! Feel free to ask me any questions but I highly, highly recommend! Thank you, Paige! It pains me to give only three stars to a very fun course, especially when it has such a unique clubhouse (albeit not "fancy"). However, the bad course conditions and huge number of mediocre-poor quality houses along the fairways simply won't allow me to give more. read more

DO NOT waste your time here. My son's small, intimate wedding was almost a disaster. We walked into the room where the wedding was to take place and there were dirty dishes and food left over from the night or two before. Nobody was around so we ended up cleaning the place up as much as we could before the bride arrived. The chairs for our wedding were taken from the tables where the food leftovers were and some were dirty. The officiant, who came as part of the package, showed up in jeans and tennis shoes! I called and spoke with the manager of the club, Kurt Schier, who blamed Indiana Weddings and said he'd "make it right" and promised twice to call me back the next day. This is being written two weeks later and I STILL haven't heard from him despite leaving messages and emails. Maybe I can get his attention through bad reviews. I just don't want anyone to go through what we did. There are plenty of other great venues in the Indy area--go there! read more

I went to a kick ass wedding reception here. Ok. It was mine. Back before I was divorced, I was married.And when I got married I had a wedding reception that was straight up ballin' out of control. Connie, the wedding planner that comes with the package, did everything. The food was impeccable, people were wanting more, we had a bar service of beer and wine with blue moon on tap and large trays of oranges. The scenery is stellar. There's a large wooden balcony and patio area overlooking a lake and an abundance of trees. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't get married or invite the ex-husband to the party, but I'd have a big party there again in a second. read more

The course is very well run. Brian Garrett, the course pro, is one of the nicest pros I have ever been around. It has a large clubhouse with simulated golf and an indoor putting green. Most every time I have played the course it has been in solid shape. It is fairly short therefore allows for good scores if you are playing well. They have an 18 hole course, a 9 hole par 3 course, and a new driving range. read more

Southern Dunes has the nerve to ask for $ 35 on a weekday ! I don't know who the super is but year after year they seem to drip fluid from a mowing machine to ruin a number of greens and tee boxes. I played in April when the course should be at it's best. It looked like late August. Diseased greens, horrible un-even tee boxes and the bunkers ! These aren't bunkers ! I understand the rocky waste areas 200 yards from the greens but, around all greens literally pea gravel, nothing close to sand.As a kicker the crappy GPS shuts your cart down dozens of yards away from shots where the course is obviously far beyond repairing. Can't believe Gary Player would put his name on this dump. read more

Call and booked 9 holes for 2 with a cart. Arrived for my first and probably last visit. Went in to check in confirmed I was there for 9 holes for 2 with cart. Person greeting "Dan" was rude / smart ass. When I finished paying. Ask where things we're was told outside. Ask where to get cart said if we have any the are outside. No help. When I finished and got home to enter my receipt in checkbook. I was charge for 18 hole for 2 and cart. Call back told I could get course credit. I don't want to play there again. read more
